Absolutely perfect; the only complaint is that our stay of four days was too brief. It is hard to compare this establishment with any other top hotel and restaurant, and it is certainly at the very top. If one could imagine the Bristol in Paris or the Gritti in Venice designed and built by a noted Japanese architect, and filled...

My husband and I stayed at Split Apple Retreat in February. Lee and Pen have created a unique place for the sophisticated traveler; their warmth and caring create a comfortable environment for all. The healthful food, the amazing Asian art collection, the beautiful views, and amazing service make this a very special place. My husband does not usually like places...

We recently spent 3 nights at the Split Apple Retreat as part of our honeymoon in New Zealand and from the moment we arrived it was just perfect. It's a spectacular part of the world and the retreat itself is just as as amazing. The owner and host Lee goes out of his way to make your stay very special...

My wife and I spent two wonderful days at the Split Apple. I echo every sentiment expressed in these reviews. Lee is a terrific host with a great sense of humor. Pen is a fabulous chef and the quality of the nutritious food is unparalleled. We even threatened to stow Pen away in our bags and take her home with...

We were lucky enough to spend three nights at Split Apple a couple of weeks ago - and we had an absolutely super stay. Lee and Pen have created something very special, which is quite unlike anywhere we have stayed before. Split Apple quite beautifully expresses their belief that wellness comes from a combination of healthy living and healthy eating............

Stayed for 3 nights in Jan 2016. We are high-end travel foodies based in London who love small ultra-luxury boutique hotels in remarkable places with exceptional food. We have been lucky enough to stay at many places around Split Apple's price bracket and our expectations were understandable high. Split Apple was, without doubt, the best place we have ever stayed....

Stayed 4 nights over Christmas 2015. Split Apple is a remarkably special place. If you visit Able Tasman, you’re missing out if you don’t spend some time with Lee and Pen at Split Apple. Food— Pen and her crew create incredible gourmet meals, founded in science-based wellness. What’s amazing is that—if you didn’t know it—you wouldn’t even know the meals...

Dr Lee and his wife Pen have created a spot extraordinaire! The home that they designed and now share with guests is beautiful, relaxing and comfortable with views that are truly awesome. Pen is a fabulous chef. Her meals are healthy, beautiful for the eye and the palate. It is a long way to travel (from New York area) but...

Lee & Pen have created one of the best boutique hotels of the world, snuggled in the hills overlooking Sandy Bay and the Abel Tasman National Park. Suffused with oriental flavours in it’s museum quality art, its precise so carefully thought out fittings and exquisite food, so subtle and yet complex, so fulfilling and yet not overfilling. An magnificent hand...
