I chose this hotel due to the many good reviews. Unfortunately I was very disappointed about the hotel and staff. The receptionists seemed stressed and not very friendly. I got food poison from either the breakfast or lunch at the beach. I have stayed at many hotels all over the world and the standards of this hotel is not 5 star. The interior of the rooms are dull and the breakfast restaurant is very “sterile” and not very welcoming. We also had to pay 4 euro to get a proper coffee instead of the machine coffee. The location is beautiful and the beach is really nice. Also the lifeguard working at the beach was very friendly.
I stayed at this hotel for a week as part of a Yoga trip from Norway. The room was very nice, and the hotel had set me up in a conjoined room with my friend. The food was excellent, especially the Italian restaurant. The beach was beautiful, and the water is so clean and nice to swim in. Beautiful location for a yoga trip or just a trip with family or friends.
The hotel is exceptional - 5 stars are just not enough. The views are stunning, all the staff are amazing and always go the extra mile. The rooms are beautiful, and the food is great. The Italian restaurant is superb and really worth trying
First stayed here 9 years ago. It was top quality then, even better now due to revamped main dining room and the exceptional a la carte restaurant, Segreto. I say exceptional because not only was the food selection and quality first class, the service provided by the lovely staff was of the highest order. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and although the hotel is built on a fairly steep slope, it is no problem staying there due to the availability of the club cart service if needed to ferry up and down (thank you Grig for your wonderful friendly service). And Chrisa in the main dining room, so helpful at breakfast time All staff so well trained and helpful.. Car hire tip-Broumis in Nidri will deliver and collect from hotel.
I have been fortunate enough to stay at many hotels from back packer hotels in Old Hanoi to former royal palaces in the Middle East. And the Porto Galini is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Having arrived at 3am thanks to a stressful and significantly delayed flight from Easyjet we were greeted by smiling faces of the helpful staff who, despite the hour presented us with a tray of fresh fruit and sandwiches. Having missed dinner were also provided with a voucher for a post check out lunch in the restaurant. The hotel exceeds expectations (and the photographs and description on the website) in every way. No tired decor, fixtures or fittings but high quality and spotlessly clean surroundings. The bedroom (superior with sea view) (recommended) was perfect, comfortable with everything we could wish for and a view to die for. The food, both selection and quality was high end restaurant standard. Great variety and beautifully presented. The chef's are clearly very experienced and well trained to maintain such standards with such a variety of cuisines. All the staff from reception, restaurant, cleaning, ground staff and pool side were excellent. Helpful, happy, smiling, accommodating and couldn't do enough for you. The grounds by the way are wonderful. Peaceful, superbly maintained with a lovely array of plants, shrubs and flowers. The location is stunning. About a 30 minute taxi ride from Preveza airport and with a beautiful mountain backdrop and private beach with fabulous views across to the mainland and surrounding islands. Would recommend car hire to visit some of the rest of Lefkada and particularly the more remote west coast where there are some beautiful and more remote beaches. Overall, I couldn't rate this hotel highly enough and would commend anyone to stay here. The world is a small place with so much to see and I rarely return to the same place twice, although may make an exception for the Porto Galini!…
This was our first stay at this Hotel, but have stayed in Villa's in Lefkada for 6 years prior to Covid. The staff at this Hotel were very friendly and in particular the Restaurant staff ( Waiters and chef's) Cleaning Staff etc and we cannot fault anything. We loved our room with a great view, even though it was good exercise, to and fro the Restaurants, it was handy for reception. There are Golf Buggies available to take you up & down if needed, and the staff operating them were very helpful. We had a great time and food was good and varied. We will certainly be going back again and next time we will stay for 3 weeks !
It was our second time in Porto Galini, we decided to return because of amazing experience we had the first time, especially huge sea view terrace. During booking (via travel agency) it was not possible to note sea view but since it was a more expensive Superior type room for 4, we wrongly assumed it was going to be sea view. The room we got was garden view, if you call “garden view” the road outside of the hotel. We did ask to change the room, we willing to pay extra to have the sea view and a more comfortable room. However, we were told the hotel was booked and that was it. The room was too small for 4 persons (2 adults, 2 kids). It was very noisy - because of the road, could hear every car driving by at night. Also, the toilet wouldn’t flush (this was repaired). The shower was a disaster - really outdated, could not regulate water temperature either boiling or cold was coming out of it without any logic. Tiny, narrow balcony (with a glimpse of sea at its end) only with 3 chairs (we were 4). Balcony door was broken (would get stuck, one of its corners stuck out, wont close properly). Otherwise I agree with other reviews regarding amazing beach area, lovely territory, great breakfast and dinner options. Clean pools, good cleaning of the rooms, smiling staff, etc. One would need a car (or motorbike or something motorized) to get anywhere but that’s part of the experience - to drive those mountain roads and enjoy the curves.…
I never booked a hotel or trip twice before, but stayed at the Porto Galini twice already and it won‘t be our last stay for sure. Wonderful hotel, stunning views of the Ionic Sea. Every single member of the staff makes us feel like family.
Just back from a week half board at the Porto Galini Spa and resort and wishing we were still there. We wanted a relaxing stay and that is exactly what we were given from start to finish. Greeted with cool towels to wash away the grime from travelling and then taken by 'golf Kart' to, our rooms with an explanation of where things were en route the staff here are of the highest caliber, friendly and helpful and always smiling. Our room was a basic one but to be honest it was larger and of a higher quality than most of the rooms where we have stayed in other hotels, a small terrace with table and chairs and a drying rack to the side of the entrance and all windows have shutters that can be closed at night to block any light. Entering there was a nice seating area with a TV and clothes storage and off of that through another small 'hallway' there was more storage with cupboards and wardrobes. Through this was a large bathroom with plenty of room, a walk in shower and a large sink and mirror. The bedroom was large and had a very comfortable bed with side tables and lights and another TV. We loved our room and could not fault it at all. The Asterias restaurant was large dining area which offered a huge range of food covering all food types and easily catering for Vegans/Vegetarians and of course being Greece meat eaters. It was spacious well lit and had great views out over the sea. Breakfast selection was vast with freshly squeezed orange juice a hot favourite for many as a beverage. You could easily have an excellent 3 -5 course meal here and each night was a different theme, Greek, International, Fish etc. That said there was plenty of variety again so they catered for all types of diets. The Dining Staff were diligent and attentive also very friendly and helpful. Meal times were spread over a long period so there was never a rush to eat and the plates of food were continuously refreshed (and hot where necessary)! Oh and there is the Segreto A La Carte Italian restaurant, not cheap but if you have the budget treat yourself to an amazing experience with food of a very high standard and 'special' desserts, we will leave that for you to discover as a surprise! The pool areas were very clean, spacious and well laid out with lots of seating. The hotel has it's own private beach with plenty of sunbeds all of which have there own shade. There was a life guard both in the pool areas and on the beach which is more of a small smooth gravel beach not sand and we would advise suitable swim footwear to both protect from the pebbles and the hot stones! One last great thing George and Mario are your waiters for the pool and beach area and you can either use an App or press a call buzzer to alert them or just go old fashioned and chat to them, they did an amazing job of keeping food and drinks flowing to all the guests all of the time. Nic the beach lifeguard is there to help also with the water sports equipment which although limited is free and fun, Canoes and Paddle boards, he is there all day apart from a short lunch break and was always happy, smiling, helpful and friendly. So are there any downsides to this little slice of Paradise? Yes, it is on a hillside and so from top to bottom is for anyone with mobility issues a problem, that said the hotel I'm sure could and did use the Golf Kart to ferry people up and down as there is a 'roadway' and some sloping paths to help, but beware there are still many steps to negotiate! A taxi to Nidri just 4 Kms down the road was 8 Euros and as there is no footpath this is by far the safest was to travel out and about. If you are used to driving abroad then hire a car, we do and Lefkada is a small island with plenty of places to visit. We also hired a boat from Nidri for the day at 60 euros plus used fuel. Transfer to the hotel from Prevesa Airport is around 40-60 mins.…
Absolutely loved this hotel The views, location and quality of accommodation are outstanding. Set next to the calm blue Ionian seas with its own private beach with views of mountains the hotel offers peace relaxation and calm. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. Rooms are well equipped and to a high standard. Food is of a really good quality and plenty of choice and the half board option is great value with a different type of cuisine each night. Spotlessly clean resort with beautiful pools, sun loungers, parasols and drinks served on beach. Wifi is excellent throughout the hotel including on the beach It’s rare I go on holiday and want to return to the same place but I’m definitely coming back here!
