We returned for a second two week stay and it was still the same - excellent. The staff all remembered us and made our visit very welcoming and comfortable. The food is still excellent and the entertainment still the same lively stuff. This time round we did a one day safari to Shimba Hills with W.T. Safaris – a good...

We have just returned from spending 2 weeks at southern palms. What a dream !!! The staff were amazing as was the hotel, food and of course the beach itself. If you get the chance go to Kim4love along the beach, what an amazing experience, its a beach party that is frequented by a lot of locals every saturday and...

Spent a week at the Southern Palms in early March. First time in Kenya and a great place to go for some winter sun. Hotel was fab in every way. We upgraded to the sea view room which meant we could lie in bed and look out on the Indian Ocean - well worth it. Swimming pools are simply the...

This was my first time to Kenya and we travelled with Thomas Cook. We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights and 6 nights Safari. I am well travelled and have to say this is the best swimming pool I have ever seen. The restaurants are all excellent and we did not have a bad meal, I do not really...

TRANSFER The transfer from the Airport to the hotel takes normally about 2 hours. But at busy times it can take longer. We got given a bottle of water when we got on the bus which was a nice. I would advise taking another bottle on the bus with you as at busy times it can take longer to get...

The trip from the airport can be a bit of a nightmare due to the ferry crossing. Ensure that you have some bottled water with you as you can wait up to 2 hours on a very hot bus at peak times. When you get there it's worth it. Lovely hotel, good food and plenty of choice, nice rooms, great...

Got a good price on the AI deals but be careful what is/not available. Local brands only for wine, poured out in small measures but spirits a little more generous. To buy drinks are not cheap. Main problem is the beach where there are nowhere enough beds ot thatched shades. People were down at 6 in the morning to get...

Have just returned from two weeks in southern palms beach hotel. Our first time AI but would not bother next time.Prices are reasonable for food and drinks and as only local drinks available on AI and NOT ICE CREAM it is not worth the extra you pay for AI. However the staff are fantastic and nothing is too much bother....

Stayed at the hotel between the 8th and 22nd of January 2011. The hotel management/owners need to decide if they are going for half board/full board or all inclusive guests. Running three systems is a farce. I understand that having stayed in the Caribbean many times on AI dealls that we have obviously been spoiled. Southern Palms just don't get...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This dramatic hotel with its fantastic pools and beautiful beach is the perfect spot to relax after a safari… or simply visit to relax! The warm and very African feel of the hotel with comfortable rooms, well appointed bathrooms and selection of restaurants offers guests plenty of places to lounge in the sun and almost as many shady spots to enjoy a bit of a breeze and a good book. All rooms have quiet, split unit air conditioners, televisions, mini fridges and coffee and tea making facilities. There is a safe (chargeable) in each room and a business center located in the main building with internet or wifi access in public areas. The drama of the huge, traditional makuti (thatched) roof in the main restaurant offers the Chef a terrific showcase for a varied selection of local and international dishes on the buffet or you could indulge at one of the a la carte restaurants (chargeable) for a special occasion or just a quiet evening for two. ... more   less
