The hotel has beautiful grounds. The staff are friendly in all areas except for a few of them in the main restaurant often reluctant to set up a table of your choice but if you sit there and simile they have no choice. The girls that do massages and beauty treatments are only nice on the first day when they...

We were given the option of transfering to Southern Palms from Bamburi Beach in the North Coast of Mombasa (of which Southern Palms is the sister hotel and they were trying to promote. The staff were cold, unfriendly, unhelpful and the food for vegetarians was the same for lunch and dinner. Upon entry to our room I used the toilet...

Arrived here after spending a week on the Thomson Best of kenya safari. Was a big let down after the lovely lodges we had stayed in during the trip. Food was the best aspect of the hotel - was very good, plenty of choice and some delicious curries in the main restaurant. The Grill and Italian were also good. Pool nearest...

This hotel is a lovely resort. Me and my partner stayed for 2 weeks half board. Within those 2 weeks we went on a Safari for 4 days with JT Safaris and i cannot recommend Julius (the guy who runs JT Safaris) enough. He made sure our safari was exactly what we wanted and phoning us once every day whilst...

The food is still excellent and the entertainment still the same lively stuff. This time round we did a one day safari to Shimba Hills with W.T. Safaris – a good...

Spent a week at the Southern Palms in early March. First time in Kenya and a great place to go for some winter sun. Hotel was fab in every way. We upgraded to the sea view room which meant we could lie in bed and look out on the Indian Ocean - well worth it. Swimming pools are simply the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This dramatic hotel with its fantastic pools and beautiful beach is the perfect spot to relax after a safari… or simply visit to relax! The warm and very African feel of the hotel with comfortable rooms, well appointed bathrooms and selection of restaurants offers guests plenty of places to lounge in the sun and almost as many shady spots to enjoy a bit of a breeze and a good book. All rooms have quiet, split unit air conditioners, televisions, mini fridges and coffee and tea making facilities. There is a safe (chargeable) in each room and a business center located in the main building with internet or wifi access in public areas. The drama of the huge, traditional makuti (thatched) roof in the main restaurant offers the Chef a terrific showcase for a varied selection of local and international dishes on the buffet or you could indulge at one of the a la carte restaurants (chargeable) for a special occasion or just a quiet evening for two. ... more   less
