What an amazing hotel. A gem nestled in Diani beach. The small nature of the hotel makes it feel so special and unique and you never feel over crowded or as if you are just a number like you can in some bigger hotels. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and we were bowled over with the location, the rooms and the staff. It’s truly a paradise which we were sad to say goodbye to. Everyone was so warm and friendly, Abdul went above and beyond to make sure we did every activity that we wanted as well as making the bookings for us. Everything is taken care of and we especially loved how fresh aloe was prepared for us when we stupidly got pretty bad sunburn! (Abdul and his team, again, were absolute saviours!). Would not hesitate to recommend this paradise.
Waterlovers resort was the perfect spot to wrap up our honeymoon for 6 nights! We had just finished trekking with gorillas in Uganda and a safari in the Maasai Mara and were looking for a place to relax a bit for the remainder of the trip. Waterlovers was perfect for us because it had an incredibly relaxed atmosphere, but access to abundant activities as well (we snorkled, kitesurfed, participated in beach workouts, kayaked...) The room was spacious, with an awesome 2nd-story deck that provided beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. We loved having snacks and drinks delivered to us up there as we recovered from a morning run! The bathrooms were huge and clean, and the AC worked very well (importamt in summer months!) The location was ideal--it was right at the center of Diani Beach with miles of white sand in either direction and all off-resort activities within walking distance (glass bottom boats, sand bar trips, bush baby feeding, jet ski safaris, kitesurfing, local malls, bars, and clubs...); but truly, you could spend an amazing week here never leaving the resort. As you pull in through the entrance, it looks like an idyllic slice of paradise. Perhaps the biggest differentiator we found was the staff at Waterlovers: they made the honeymoon unforgettable. By the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends and we could not wait to plan our next trip back. The managers, Veronica and Valentina, catered expertly to their guests' needs with incredible warmth. They personally call in restaurant and activity reservations around town, making inquiries and ensuring that your stay there is everything you want it to be. They even helped me plan a few surprises for my wife! Thank you Veronic and Valentina! On the staff front, I'll also note my appreciation of Abdallah--you'll never have another bartender like him! He was hilarious and knew what each guest was looking for--quick with a joke, story, and drink recommendation. Our stay wouldn't have been the same without him, and I know other guests felt the same--thank you, Abdallah! I would say that compared to the larger resorts, I loved that the small size of Waterlovers meant that you got to know and interact with the staff a lot more--by day 3 we were talking soccer and discussing Kenya's best beers! It was nice to see familiar faces and really lent itself to a community feel. The food was fresh as well--you order your day's food in the morning, and they literally go to the market and purchase the ingredients that day. I got the catch of the day every night, which was some of the best fish I have ever had. There is a relaxed pace of meals and service here, but one that we very much appreciated as we slowed down and unplugged. Wifi is available, but who needs it when you are at Diani's best resort, a little slice of heaven! I'll let a few wonderful surprises remain unsaid, but know that the staff here go above and beyond to ensure you have an unbelievably memorable time--my wife are already nostalgic for our stay there!…
Waterlovers in Kenya is a truly idyllic and luxurious beachfront hotel. The location, on the white sandy beaches of the Kenyan coast, is absolutely breathtaking. The service provided by the friendly and attentive staff is impeccable, always going above and beyond to make sure that guests have an unforgettable experience. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-appointed with all the necessary amenities, including air conditioning and free wifi. The hotel's restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine, and the bar has a great selection of drinks. The outdoor pool and spa are the perfect places to relax and unwind after a day spent exploring the area. The hotel also offers complimentary afternoon tee time with biscuits and coffee, a great way to end the day and enjoy the lovely surroundings. Overall, I highly recommend Waterlovers as a fantastic choice for a beach vacation in Kenya. It was a wonderful surprise to come back to my hotel room in the evening and find the beds turned down and crisp linens freshly pressed. The extra attention to detail truly made my stay at the hotel feel luxurious and relaxing. Thomasine and Gustaf with 2 children…
The rooms, staff and location were fantastic and it would have been a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the over priced drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic, and food . I appreciate that the food is cooked fresh but seemed strange that you had to order your evening meal at breakfast.
We spent only one night here unfortunately. Its a small boutique hotel with direct access to the beach. Beautiful cottages with sea view and spacious veranda. Lots of personal touches that make it very special. Service is excellent. Being small food options are limited but fresh. Breakfast is excellent with local fruits. Fabulous place and highly recommended. One downside that they have to fix is that the telephone numbers to reach the front desk/reception provided on the website, by Booking.com and even in the room dont work.
What a lovely little resort. Valentina and team were very welcoming, very courteous and always on hand to provide advice and support. It was lovely to chill out (after some full-on safaris) and enjoy the sea views and sound of the waves. We were BnB so we took the opportunity to explore various places to eat - the nearby Funky Monkey was good, and a Tuk Tuk ride to the (very good) Salty Squid (15-20 mins) was a lot of fun. Our walk along the beautiful white sandy beach was great - even if it did feel a little bit like running the gauntlet (of traders) at times - but i guess that they need to find ways to survive, and this comment is pertinent to all hotels/ resorts, not just Waterlovers. There is a large supermarket, and ATM about 5 minutes' walk away. We'd recommend the trip out to the sandbanks on a wooden canoe/ boat - i am not a strong swimmer and have only snorkeled once before - but i enjoyed the experience and there were plenty of colourful, coral reef-based fish to see. The Vervet Monkeys were indeed cheeky and fun to watch, and i will forgive the one that stole my chocolate brownies, in a flash, when i looked the other way. Overall, a really nice venue. …
This is our second holiday at Waterlovers and this was even better than the first time. It is the best place to relax and enjoy superb views of the Indian Ocean. Friendly and professional service, comfortable and beautifully appointed. The food is delicious. We spent ten glorious days in this very special place and we can’t wait to return.
We stayed at Waterlovers for 6 nights after a weeks safari in Masa Mara and Amboseli. This place is truly awesome, it exceeded all our expectations and so much more. The resort location and photos speak for themselves but what they don’t highlight is the amazing and charming staff. They are all so passionate about their environment and the service they provide to their guests. Luckily we met the owners Ricardo & Valentina who are truly inspirational people and who have created and nurtured such a wonderful holiday resort, lovely relaxing environment and caring ethos. The managers Abdul, Valentina and Veronica were so helpful and made sure we felt at ease during our stay. As for the staff I just cannot thank them enough, I can honestly say we were choked up to say goodbye to such a wonderful team. Special thanks to our friends Abdala, Amina and Anthony who welcomed us everyday with kindness and a smile. Thank you all for making our wedding anniversary so special, a final last mention to Anthony who we’ll both remember with great fondness. Hopefully we’ll see you all again one day….. Steve & Mandy xx…
This was the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with incredible food. The property purposefully does not book too many guests at once, so it feels frequently like you have the place to yourself. The food is incredible and in a 6-day stay we ate most of our meals there, never getting bored of the options. (Plenty of veggie options.) The staff is friendly and accommodating. This place has everything you need for a "plug and play" stay. And if you need adventure/activities, they can point you in the right direction. We will definitely return.
We went to the Waterlovers Beach Resort at the beginning of August for 7 days after our safari. All was perfect: - The exceptional set up of the resort from the reception, the rooms, the breakfast/lunch/dinner area, the bar, the pool, the incredible beach.... - The quality of the room was exceptional, a lot of details and great taste - All meals were adapted to our taste - A lot of possible activities: kite surfing, canoeing, snorkeling, swimming, walking along the beach for hours and much more - The staff was outstanding always trying to please us - The management and owners were exceptional organizing everything we needed: restaurant bookings outside the resort, transportation back to the airport, organizing activities with local providers... Would highly recommend the resort. Hope to be able to come back.…
