Firstly, you will know by now (if you’ve read lots of the previous reviews) that this hotel is amazing and there’s many reasons for that:
The location: it is close to the airport! And it was fairly straightforward coming out of the airport to the find our bus transfer. We thought we were going to be the last one to be dropped off but actually, we were the first one so that was truly a pleasant surprise! The hotel is also close to a little town called Tsilivi. It’s literally a 2 min walk from the hotel and it is buzzin’ with bars, restaurants, shops etc. it’s really lively and also nice for a walk
The hotel: The overall look of this hotel is incredible! It is located by a really nice beach with clear turquoise waters and there’s also plenty of pools for everyone! Including an indoor pool! This hotel is literally chill vibes for adults. If you want to fully relax, this hotel is for you. If you’re looking for loud music and party scenes by the pool, look elsewhere.
Check in was super easy. We arrived just after 9pm, the fresh towels and refreshing drink was a nice touch especially after travelling for hours! After filling in the necessary forms, we were asked if we wanted to go to our rooms or go to dinner as it was going to be finishing soon. We went straight to dinner as we were hungry then went to our room afterwards to find our suitcases already there :) also, thank you for the lovely bubbly and red wine guys!
Food: Is really good here! The buffet has loads of variety and I don’t think we’ve been to a buffet where the food is really of very high standards. My husband loved the meat varieties. He’s a fussy eater but even he found lots of stuff he liked and tried new things too! They had certain themes each night for dinner, we loved the Greek night the most! Breakfast is also very good! I don’t know the guy’s name who makes the omelette (we just called him Mr Man) but he makes yummy omelettes. The guy who is in charge of fried eggs and poached eggs etc- he’s also very nice and friendly and greeted us every time he saw us! Also do yourself a favour and try Freddo cappuccino with caramel! Lunch is also very good, lots of varieties again! We went to the beach bar a lot for lunch! Delicious food! My husband’s fave was the spaghetti Bolognese and the Zante Maris special pizza and I really enjoyed the pork souvlaki! Also, we loved the beach barbecue that happened once a week!!
You also get 1 visit per stay to the Al la carte restaurant called The Culinarium. We decided to book on our anniversary day. Oh my oh my… the food was INCREDIBLE! I was really worried that my husband won’t enjoy it because he’s a fussy eater but I was so surprised because he had a truly enjoyable meal!!!
Room: We had a swim-up double room with inland view and terrace. My husband and I loved our room and our swim up pool. After breakfast, we spent our mornings in our swim up pool because it would get lots of sun then in the afternoon either go to the beach or by the pools! Sun loungers by the pools are more popular I would say than the beach. We always found a sun lounger on the beach and we would normally go after 1 or 2pm and we went at peak season!
Activities: We took part in a few activities ran by the hotel from entertainment to exercises. We did meditation, stretch and relax, Pilates, functional work out but my favourite was the Casino Night maybe because I won hahaha! But also it was a fun and memorable night! They have quite a few activities going on, you will need to book via the TUI app but it’s easy peasy!
Excursion: We did the sunset cruise (booked via nefis in town) and the St Denis festival in Zakynthos booked with the TUI reps in the hotel. We were lucky enough to be in Zakynthos during the celebration of St Dionysios! Loved seeing Zante at night and seeing the procession and loved watching the fireworks from the boat!
We are almost done, sorry for the long review but I have saved the best for last. The staff. My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks and it felt like home for 2 weeks. The staff here are super super nice, they will smile, wave and say hi to you when you pass by them. They will check on you to make sure you are having a nice time. They are hardworking and provide service with a smile. I hope the big boss man is proud of the people he’s hired here because they don’t just do their jobs, they do their jobs very very well.
There’s lots of people we’d like to thank especially during our stay:
Achilleas- you will see him mostly on the beach taking and delivering drink orders. Such a hardworking lad and he’s even remembered what we like to get without asking us. He walks up and down the beach in the baking heat checking that people have drinks.
Egris - he is in charge of pool and beach towels! He is ever so friendly and nice and one time, he ran out of clean towels so he couldn’t give us any. We were happy to go back and get it ourselves but when fresh towels came, he went looking for us on the beach to give them to us. We love stopping by to chat to him!
Maria K: she served us at the beach/ snack bar. She was always so smiley and friendly and so nice to us. She also explained to us the starters we were having for our Culinarium dinner and we thought she did a great job!
Angela: She also worked at the beach/ snack bar/ The Culinarium. She was very welcoming when we came for our dinner at The Culinarium and also explained what the evening entailed. She’s also really really nice and super friendly and said hi and smiled to us every time we saw her!
Kostas-You will find him at the snack bar/ Culinarium. He was brilliant at explaining to us the food that we had at The Culinarium. Great knowledge and so professional! Thank you for passing by the lobby bar to say goodbye when we were leaving.
Gerald- your main man for the best freddo cappuccino coffee!! He works at the swim up bar and they do get busy there but he will make sure to serve you drinks with a great smile!
Maria- she works at the spa but she sometimes goes round the pool area or the beach giving complimentary massages. My husband and I really enjoyed the complimentary massage, she’s a lovely lovely lady and she’s very good with her massages!
Aris and Elsa works at the buffet restaurant. Elsa is so nice, she’s so smiley and she will make sure that you have everything you need. Aris is so professional and will ensure you are attended to.
Thanasis- king of the pina colada! You will find him mostly taking and serving drinks in the evenings at The entertainment area! So friendly and always served our drinks with a smile.
Rovena- she cleaned our room everyday and she is so hardworking and she’s so good at making our room clean and tidy. She is ever so polite and always respectful.
Aida- she was in charge of our mini bar and made sure we always had water in our room. She is ever so nice and she would always check with us if we’re ok/ we need anything else if our room.
Makkis- you will find also find him walking up and down the beach taking drink orders and serving them. Such a hardworking young man! He would always wave and say hi to us every time we saw him!
Joanna- We mainly saw her in the evenings at the entertainment area. smiliest person there and always gave us a smile and wave when we passed by her!
Tony, Evie and Hayden- they are the TUI reps in the Lobby. They are so nice and so friendly and just generally awesome and are so knowledgeable of the area and the excursions. Sorry for asking so many questions and visiting the table so many times guys and thank you Hayden for answering all of my one million questions ahaha! Tony, thank you for letting us follow you around during the St Dionysios festival- we would be lost without you- literally 😂. Evie- thank you for waving us off when we left- although it was a bit sad 😢
Cherith- she runs the fitness classes at the hotel. She’s so lovely and very good at her job. My husband and I really enjoyed all the classes that we attended with her. She would sometimes change things up to make things a bit more challenging which really worked for us. We especially enjoyed bumping into her and stopping for a chat :)
Bill- works at reception and was very professional and very good at explaining everything to us when we arrived. Thank you for waving us off when we left and thank you for being so nice and welcoming every time we entered the hotel.
Theo- You will see Theo everywhere. Because he’s always checking in on guests to make sure they’re happy and being attended to. Theo is such a nice man, he would always ask us how we are, if we are having a ice day, just generally making sure we are happy. He loves a fist bump so we made sure we gave him one every time we saw him. He is so approachable and happy to chat to guests whenever. We loved our chats with, he’s got great personality 😊
The staff in TUI Blue Zante Maris are all fantastic. We just really want to say a massive thank you to everyone there for making us feel at home for 2 weeks. Never been on holiday where we got friendly with lots of the staff and it was all a bit emotional leaving. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting some chill, relaxing time by the sea. Great location, fantastic food and awesome people!
Service and staff were also amazing. Best all inclusive cocktails I’ve had although they did change sometimes so I think all staff could have better training on cocktails so you know exactly how to expect it when ordering! Nevertheless most were still drinkable (apart from the fluorescence green mojito)!
It’s a fairly small complex but has a range of areas for both sunbathing and eating with 3 bars and a few pools. Generally comfort wise it was amazing with the best sun loungers I’ve ever used (more like beds!) but some of the seats at the bar were uncomfortable but I heard from someone else that the manager has already had bad feedback on those chairs and will replace for next year which is amazing.
The manager and tui rep were visible nearly every day, multiple times a day - so attentive and you can tell they are keen to keep up the high standards. Some of the staff serving food (behind screens) could improve their English but baring in mind Covid foods for the first time prevented guests accessing the buffet themselves I thought they were excellent.
Tsilivi is a busy, touristy area but plenty to do if you want a break from the hotel. The surrounding beach isn’t great quality so if you like a long beach run or romantic walks on the beach then this area probably isn’t for you.
Only criticism is the cost of the spa treatments - it was far too expensive. I don’t know if they were fully booked but I doubt it. Afterwards we went to Athens and I had a 5 star treatment 90 min treatment for 75 euros... the Zante Maris hotel were charging 125 Euros for a 75 minute Cretan Massage from memory.
Massages a short way up the beach were only 20 euros for 30 min too. I appreciate the service and treatment would have no doubt been exceptional but the prices were too expensive relative to what customers had paid for the holiday and custom was missed out on.
Room service was a reasonable price to get the all inclusive room delivered to your room.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this hotel.
Lyndsey
Honestly the best European all inclusive resort we’ve stayed at and will definitely be back.
Arrived at 3pm to a welcome drink, check in was smooth with luggage taken to room 377 on the second floor.
The room was Pool facing with a side sea view and balcony but only had the sun from sunrise until 10.00am.
The room was modern in design with a walk in shower, safe and fridge. If you need Tea/Coffee making facilities just ask at reception.
Staff everywhere in the hotel were exceptional from the manager to the cleaners and nothing was too much trouble..
I had mobility issues so used my mini scooter to get around the hotel, they arranged overnight storage and charging facilities in the laundry room close to then room.
They also reserved space in the restaurant and sun beds on the beach for us.
The main buffet served an excellent selection of food and was very Covid friendly despite many choosing to ignore the one way system. The A lLa Carte restaurant was quality but not sure I would pay 40 euros per head for a return visit!
The drink selection was vast but be sure to ask if you want branded drinks or you will be given alternatives, the Passion Fruit Cocktail is a must, either on the beach or the hotel.
The entertainment team worked tirelessly but having to arrange through the Tui App appeared to discourage guests from participation.
Tony was particularly helpful in completing the Passenger Location Form.
The holiday was made extra special by meeting good friends, big thanks to Dave & Mel from Goole and Mansfield Dave and Di
2 negatives were
1) Poor Evening entertainment
2) Sun Beds being reserved around the Pool and Beach at 6.30aam and not utilised until 11.00am
Overall a great break and would were return, a big yes!!
The hotel is spotless. They have all the right protocols in place for COVID. We saw everywhere constantly being cleaned. All tables have a 'sanitised table' sign on them so you know which have been cleaned ready for the next person. All staff wear masks and gloves which can't be easy in the heat. We even saw all the sun loungers being sprayed down at night (credit to the guy who works on the beach from morning to night cleaning and tidying the sunbeds, he never stops but is so friendly).
Rooms aren't cleaned daily but that's not an issue. You can easily request clean towels and bedsheets via the app.
The rainfall shower is amazing, so powerful and the same goes for the handheld shower.
We had a swim up room which got the sun in the morning. It felt really private and nice for when you just wanted to chill.
All food menus are available via the app only. This is a nice touch to keep cross contact down. We liked the fact the main buffet is served to you. I actually hope this continues going forward - it is more hygienic and it must reduce food waste where people would normally pile their plates unnecessarily high. If you wanted more of the serving the staff have put on your plate you simply need to ask.
The beach house for lunch is amazing and we ate here every day. The souvlaki is great as is the Greek salad and lemon pie. The staff, in particular the manager and Betty are wonderful and deserve so much praise. They are so friendly and helpful.
The beach staff are also brilliant. They work tirelessly all day long constantly taking drink orders.
The service throughout the hotel really was outstanding and we won't hesitate to go back to either here or another TUI Blue hotel.
The hotel is heavily TUI branded. You need two TUI smartphone apps, one primarily for travel purposes and one for booking activities and dinner each night. Surprisingly the information on the Blue App is not kept up-to date: for example the Lobby Bar is listed as open from 08.00-00.00 daily but it never opened when we were there. The reps' welcome meeting was listed in the Lobby but actually took place in the Pool Bar. We were also given a leaflet when we arrived detailing themed nights in the restaurant: none of these materialised. Things are just a little haphazard and not joined up.
I would also blame TUI for overbooking: we were informed a couple of days before departure that our first two nights would be in another hotel. No compensation was offered and we were repeatedly encouraged to cancel our holiday.
The staff are almost all lovely but a few of them seem to be overworked causing bottlenecks in service. Commonly, queues would form for drinks with one poor sod struggling to service both guests and waiters. Room cleaners seemed to be struggling to cope in the heat, being required to work in rooms with masks and without aircon.
The food, in our estimation, fell far short of five star standards. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner the hot food was always lukewarm, not helped by being served on cold plates. There was plenty of meat, mostly pork, and always very, very thoroughly cooked. The names of the dishes changed every day but they still looked and tasted the same. Salads and fruit were fresh and appetising but the rest was seriously lacking spice and flavour.
We looked forward to the one dinner were allowed in the Culinarium. The appetisers and amuse bouche were beautifully presented but the “Beef fillets”, served rare as I requested, were actually four medallions of pork – served rare. Words fail me.
Drinks were good by AI standards, although where a choice of brands (eg Finsbury Gin or Gordon's) was listed only the cheaper was usually available. The house wine, however was poor: the red was undrinkable and the sparkling was far too sweet for adult tastes, to the extent that we ended up foregoing the AI offering and buying a bottle of Prosecco from the local Spar. A polite request for an ice bucket was flatly refused: so much for five star service.
We enjoyed our stay and the hotel has five star potential. However, as it stands, with lukewarm, bland, repetitive food and a lot of queuing that is still in the future.
Download the Tui Blue app - everything you need when arriving is there, including booking evening meal & activities.
I understand there were teething issues in August as the hotel only recently opened.
None of the issues were apparent to us.
Very lucky to get a swim up pool view of left side, never used the main pools as ours was 3m x 25m.
The beach is nice, darker sand and quite stoney, I would enter sea far right in front of beach house, crystal clear warm waters, a few fish, and apparently a turtle hatched on the beach one afternoon!
All food excellent, we went for breakfast before 8, no queues whatsoever, all food hot. Fantastic welcome every morning from Elena.
Artemis and the girls give fantastic friendly service at the beach house - lunch off the menu, in evening The Culinarium was a beautiful dining experience, great quality.
The beer and spirits were fine, big range of good cocktails.
The bar staff and waiters are fantastic, always chatty and smiling. Waiter service to your lilo, sunbed, beach bed... blissful.
Thanks to all, Especially Michaelis, Dimitris, Xanthi, Betty, day and night they seemed to work and often brought drinks over when running low before we needed to ask!!
Harry and Reya doing a fantastic job under tough circumstances, great fun doing darts, bowls, quiz, bingo etc, Harry has a wicked sense of humour, Reya never seems to stop on the fitness side.
I booked a late room for 40 euros, but the hotel waived this as nobody was flying in after quarantine announced. A lovely tough on our last day.
Everything we could wish for and more was provided. A stunning hotel, great range of couples and met some great people from UK, Germany Holland..
Can't wait to return hopefully when the world is more normal!!
Tui - you should be really proud of all staff, manager to cleaners.
Hope everything works out for all in uncertain times!
