#1 of 19 in Kamphaeng Phet
We have 5 bungalows, each with 2 spacious bedrooms, set in a riverside garden. 7 of the rooms have comfortable king-sized beds; 3 have twin beds. In 2 of the bungalows the rooms are connected. All rooms have modern bathrooms with good hot water supply, strong showers and safety rails, plus separate dressing areas with big mirrors and built-in closets. The rooms are all air-conditioned and have LED TV sets, easy chairs, desks, fridges, fans, bathrobes, slippers and tea & coffee facilities. We have a top-rated indoor/outdoor restaurant, called Mango House Cafe and Restaurant, in a beautiful garden on the banks of the majestic Ping River. It features a green-themed coffee shop and serves a variety of coffees and teas, as well as both original Thai-fusion food and country-style Thai cuisine. Our restaurant has been awarded an official Thai Select Certificate, an assurance that we offer authentic Thai food. Our room rates include breakfast (Thai or Western dishes) served at the table. We cater for big functions, such as weddings, seminars, parties and official lunches and dinners. All areas can be accessed by wheelchair and free WiFi is available throughout.

Mango House Resort is a wonderfully laid-back resort on the banks of the Ping River. The bungalows are spacious with very comfortable beds and all amenities. Perhaps the highlight is the riverside restaurant/bar/coffee shop area where you can enjoy great-value Thai food and drinks served by the attentive staff while enjoying live music.

This is a great place to stay to break the journey to or from the North of Thailand by Road . The rooms are simple but clean and there is a good riverside restaurant . There are only about ten rooms . It’s also a great place from which to explore the ruins of the old city of Khampaeng Phet which is a bit of a hidden gem and much less crowded than the more we’ll known Sukhothai Historical Park

Kamphaeng Phet, despite its well deserved UNESCO listing, is off the well beaten tourist pathi. It's a sleepy mid-sized Thai rural city that has maintained its laid back character. Staying here is like stepping back in time to experience traditional up-country Thai hospitality. We spent four nights in Kamphaeng Phet, exploring the historic ruins, markets, museums and nearby national parks. We could easily have done a day trip to Sukhothai which is only one hour away. The resort owners, David and Nichapa, are full of helpful information on what to do. All the staff are friendly and efficient. I was really surprised to read one or two negative reviews of Maeping Mango, although I did note that the vast majority of reviews had an excellent rating. I suspect the negative reviews might be from local competition. This is a very special resort. The grounds are nicely laid out, with lots of impressive trees. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. A very comfortable bed and a great shower. The restaurant, which has a lovely setting along the banks of the river, serves delicious authentic Thai cuisine. A huge menu. The food was so good we didn't eat anywhere else during our stay apart from lunch at some excellent noodle shops in town. The Tourism Authority of Thailand should do more to promote the hidden delights of Kamphaeng Phet. It's only a four to five hour drive from Bangkok on an excellent road, and half way to Chiang Mai. We plan to return.

One thing I like about this review is that you have taken time to talk about the town and its attractions. It is one of rural Thailand's hidden gems. And I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your generous review: I'll tell the team you appreciated their service. If we get unfavourable reviews, we try to learn from them. Even if we disagree with them, they make us think about what we are doing and how we are doing it. Naturally, we like to get good reviews - but we know we have to work hard to earn them. If - when - you return we'll try to make sure you enjoy your second stay just as much as your first. Thank you

Set on the bank of the River Ping, this should be an ideal location. We went for dinner. Sitting on the river bank was relaxing. Now, down to business: The place has a run down/ slack look, dogs everywhere. Poor lighting, both driving in and walking. Expensive The dishes taste OK, but nothing special.

Thank you for dining at our restaurant and for writing a review. You are entitled to your views but I am puzzled by your comments. May I explain: (i) We employ two gardeners/handymen to keep our resort looking good. (ii) There are three dogs. They "adopted" us when we were building the resort. In the evenings, they stay together in one area. They are docile and friendly, de-sexed and vaccinated. Many of our customers rather like them. (iii) The lighting on the road in is standard street lighting. Within the resort/restaurant area, the lighting is softened, in keeping with the relaxing, dare I say romantic, atmosphere. But there are many, many lights throughout the resort, the garden and the restaurant to make sure no area is in darkness. The beautiful array of lighting through the trees on the property is a feature that customers like and often photograph. Lighting, in fact, is a defining characteristic of the resort. (iv) Comparing like with like, the restaurant is competitively priced. (v) I'm sorry you thought the food was nothing special. Many of our customers think differently: our restaurant is rated #1 in Kamphaeng Phet. The kitchen- and wait- staff work hard to keep it that way

Situatated in middle of nowhere location, Maeping Riverside Resort. Once staying there, you are cut off from everything, the nearest attraction is around 20 km. Yes, 20 km may not far but this is a small town, that's mean very far. The room price is same level as 3 - 4 stars hotel a night which is considered expensive. The food taste is average while staff service is fair. Only positive thing is river side view restaurant. Think twice before making this resort to be your destination. Only you desperate to spend a overnight stay is acceptable.

We're sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Yes, we are a little out of town. One of the attractions of our boutique hotel is that is our Ping River location is quiet and serene. We are a little over 2kms from the university; about 5kms from the hospital; 5-6kms from the centre of the city; and about 8-10 kms from the World Heritage historical park. You are entitled to your opinions but may I say, just for the record, that Maeping Mango is an officially registered hotel, the #1 small hotel in the city, and the restaurant is also rated #1. Thank you for staying at Maeping Mango Riverside Resort and thank you, for taking the trouble to write a review.

I had no idea Kamphaeng Phet had so much to offer: traditional teak villages, a stunning historical park full of atmospheric ruins, excellent museums, beautiful national parks nearby boasting magnificent waterfalls, and so much more - with barely a tourist in sight. And Maeping Mango Riverside Resort is the perfect base from which to explore it all, set peacefully in lovely gardens on the bank of the majestic Ping River. Its large, comfortable rooms and shady verandahs are perfect for post-touring relaxation, but the riverside restaurant is the pièce de résistance. I couldn't believe the huge array of excellent Thai dishes that came out of hostess Nichapa's kitchen over our four-day stay, many of which were local specialities. My only complaint is that the live music could be a little loud for quiet conversation. The plentiful staff are happy and friendly, the rooms are spotless, and the price is exceptional value for a mid-range resort. We'll be going back.

Some people have said Kamphaeng Phet is one of Thailand's hidden gems. Most people we know who have explored it agree that it is. And we like to think Maeping Mango is part of the surprise. Thank you for your kind thoughts about the city and its attractions and about our resort and restaurant. The country-style food served by the river makes a different dining experience. Our apologies for the music: it was too loud and we have spoken to the musicians about it. We hope you can find the time to come back. You would be very welcome

We're pleased you liked the bed! When we fitted out the resort, we spent a lot of time tracking down good mattresses, as many places in rural Thailand have rock-hard beds. We appreciate your comments on the food and the location. Kamphaeng Phet has quite a few points of interest - ancient temples, museums, hot springs, rugged national parks with spectacular waterfalls, old teak buildings. I wish people could spend more time here and get around to see them. Many thanks for your kind review

Kampaeng Phet has a lot going for it. There's the UNESCO world heritage historical park, the Phra Ruang hot springs, great night markets, a distinct lack of tourists and the terrific Maeping Mango Riverside Resort. For starters, the setting by the riverside and tranquil gardens are well worth the stay alone. However, there were many things that we enjoyed about our stay at the Maeping Mango Riverside Resort. The food takes some beating, it really was of the highest quality. We had a superb evening meal and the breakfast is absolutely tremendous. The owners pay great attention to detail. There's the creative artistic designs for the towels, dressing gowns, slippers, tea / coffee facilities and a lovely table and chairs for the balcony. The bed is incredibly comfortable. I can only say, What more could you want...Excellent and thank you.

We spent four nights here while exploring the surprising treasures of Kamphaeng Phet by day. So nice to retreat from the heat of the day to our spacious, cool and comfortable room, beautifully decorated and so well equipped, even extending to an adjacent veranda. The property is so well thought out, with a multitude of dining and sitting areas catering to all occasions. From breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, the kitchen never failed in delivering generous and sumptuous fare, and a modest but adequate wine list served us well as we enjoyed our evening meal dining riverside with accompanying live but unobtrusive entertainment. The eponymous mango tree presides amidst a lush, shady garden that encompasses the property, which suits couples and families alike. Hospitality at its best, and in rural Thailand to boot. Kudos where it’s due, and the Maeping Mango crew deserve it. Thank you for a wonderful stay at an extraordinarily reasonable price.

This is a very generous review and we're grateful for it. We have tried, in designing and running the property, to make sure the comfort and needs of our guests always come first. It's nice of you to give our modest wine list a pass-mark. We would like to offer a more extensive list but the demand for wine in rural Thailand is low and it is expensive to keep a lot of stock. But the main thing is: my wife Nichapa and I are pleased you enjoyed your stay - and that you found Kamphaeng Phet to be interesting. We hope that means you might visit us again. You would be very welcome
