Mango House Resort is a wonderfully laid-back resort on the banks of the Ping River. The bungalows are spacious with very comfortable beds and all amenities. Perhaps the highlight is the riverside restaurant/bar/coffee shop area where you can enjoy great-value Thai food and drinks served by the attentive staff while enjoying live music.
This is a great place to stay to break the journey to or from the North of Thailand by Road . The rooms are simple but clean and there is a good riverside restaurant . There are only about ten rooms . It’s also a great place from which to explore the ruins of the old city of Khampaeng Phet which is a bit of a hidden gem and much less crowded than the more we’ll known Sukhothai Historical Park
Kamphaeng Phet, despite its well deserved UNESCO listing, is off the well beaten tourist pathi. It's a sleepy mid-sized Thai rural city that has maintained its laid back character. Staying here is like stepping back in time to experience traditional up-country Thai hospitality. We spent four nights in Kamphaeng Phet, exploring the historic ruins, markets, museums and nearby national parks. We could easily have done a day trip to Sukhothai which is only one hour away. The resort owners, David and Nichapa, are full of helpful information on what to do. All the staff are friendly and efficient. I was really surprised to read one or two negative reviews of Maeping Mango, although I did note that the vast majority of reviews had an excellent rating. I suspect the negative reviews might be from local competition. This is a very special resort. The grounds are nicely laid out, with lots of impressive trees. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. A very comfortable bed and a great shower. The restaurant, which has a lovely setting along the banks of the river, serves delicious authentic Thai cuisine. A huge menu. The food was so good we didn't eat anywhere else during our stay apart from lunch at some excellent noodle shops in town. The Tourism Authority of Thailand should do more to promote the hidden delights of Kamphaeng Phet. It's only a four to five hour drive from Bangkok on an excellent road, and half way to Chiang Mai. We plan to return. …
Set on the bank of the River Ping, this should be an ideal location. We went for dinner. Sitting on the river bank was relaxing. Now, down to business: The place has a run down/ slack look, dogs everywhere. Poor lighting, both driving in and walking. Expensive The dishes taste OK, but nothing special.
Situatated in middle of nowhere location, Maeping Riverside Resort. Once staying there, you are cut off from everything, the nearest attraction is around 20 km. Yes, 20 km may not far but this is a small town, that's mean very far. The room price is same level as 3 - 4 stars hotel a night which is considered expensive. The food taste is average while staff service is fair. Only positive thing is river side view restaurant. Think twice before making this resort to be your destination. Only you desperate to spend a overnight stay is acceptable.
I had no idea Kamphaeng Phet had so much to offer: traditional teak villages, a stunning historical park full of atmospheric ruins, excellent museums, beautiful national parks nearby boasting magnificent waterfalls, and so much more - with barely a tourist in sight. And Maeping Mango Riverside Resort is the perfect base from which to explore it all, set peacefully in lovely gardens on the bank of the majestic Ping River. Its large, comfortable rooms and shady verandahs are perfect for post-touring relaxation, but the riverside restaurant is the pièce de résistance. I couldn't believe the huge array of excellent Thai dishes that came out of hostess Nichapa's kitchen over our four-day stay, many of which were local specialities. My only complaint is that the live music could be a little loud for quiet conversation. The plentiful staff are happy and friendly, the rooms are spotless, and the price is exceptional value for a mid-range resort. We'll be going back.…
After a week on the road, on a fabulous trip, we topped it off with the most comfortable beds ever, quiet aircon, and delicious food, some of the best in Thailand. This resort is a hidden treasure, located down on the Ping River, the setting is idealic. Charming hosts and good service, We loved our stay.
Stayed at this fantastic resort in June this year. Our best bed in Thailand by far. Great food in a great riverside location. David the owner has a detailed knowledge of local historical sights to help get the best from your visit.
Kampaeng Phet has a lot going for it. There's the UNESCO world heritage historical park, the Phra Ruang hot springs, great night markets, a distinct lack of tourists and the terrific Maeping Mango Riverside Resort. For starters, the setting by the riverside and tranquil gardens are well worth the stay alone. However, there were many things that we enjoyed about our stay at the Maeping Mango Riverside Resort. The food takes some beating, it really was of the highest quality. We had a superb evening meal and the breakfast is absolutely tremendous. The owners pay great attention to detail. There's the creative artistic designs for the towels, dressing gowns, slippers, tea / coffee facilities and a lovely table and chairs for the balcony. The bed is incredibly comfortable. I can only say, What more could you want...Excellent and thank you.…
We spent four nights here while exploring the surprising treasures of Kamphaeng Phet by day. So nice to retreat from the heat of the day to our spacious, cool and comfortable room, beautifully decorated and so well equipped, even extending to an adjacent veranda. The property is so well thought out, with a multitude of dining and sitting areas catering to all occasions. From breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, the kitchen never failed in delivering generous and sumptuous fare, and a modest but adequate wine list served us well as we enjoyed our evening meal dining riverside with accompanying live but unobtrusive entertainment. The eponymous mango tree presides amidst a lush, shady garden that encompasses the property, which suits couples and families alike. Hospitality at its best, and in rural Thailand to boot. Kudos where it’s due, and the Maeping Mango crew deserve it. Thank you for a wonderful stay at an extraordinarily reasonable price. …
