We stayed for 1 night(7th Dec 2018)for my husbands 60th birthday treat.
I was a little apprehensive after reading a few recent visit reviews but I needn't have been concerned. Our room was lovely, reception staff very pleasant as were restaurant & bar staff. Both our evening meals & breakfast were very enjoyable and well presented (although breakfast is a hot & cold buffet) plenty of choice on evening menu and lots to help yourself to at breakfast. The only negative point of our visit was that there was no drinks menu in the bar so you couldnt gauge cost of various drinks and particularly the cocktails

.....we travel all over the world and I would give our experience a good 8/10 & would def return sometime in the future

I really cannot understand the poor reviews that are being left for this hotel. We had 2 nights here last week and could not fault the place! The room (210) was gorgeous, large and airy with a lovely bathroom - everyone really clean. The restaurant and the food was really good - massive portions, so big that we both couldn't finish our mains! Breakfast was really good with so much choice - pancakes, teacakes, crumpets, toast and that's without mentioning the large hot buffet! The young lad working behind the bar was a delight to talk to, he was so down to earth and friendly. Infact, all the staff were extremely friendly. The spa facilities were also fantastic - pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna and again, the staff there were really friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Knaresborough, Harrogate and York too.

If you go looking for faults, people will always find something to complain about i think but all in all, this was a really good stay and we will definitely be back!

Took my wife away for her birthday, really looking forward to our stay.
This hotel suffers from a lack of identity and atmosphere.
The atmosphere comment was reiterated by other guests, some of which decamped to the local pub for a meal as they weren’t able to get into the restaurant.
The lack of attention to detail is my main criticism, on three different occasion l had to have glasses replaced as they were dirty.
We had lunch in the bar, both having fish and chips it reminded it me of a school dinner.
It is very disappointed that the menu is the same for both lunch and dinner
My wife order the sirloin, asked for medium, the meat hadn’t been rested so the plate was covered in blood.
The only saving grace in our stay was our room, 210 was lovely
Receptionist Leah was very good
Rob in the restaurant, considering it was his first night, was exceptional professionally and attentive.
For an establishment to market itself as 4 star it lack off attention to detail is inexcusable
The barman could take a look at his appearance.
Some may think this a trifle overboard but having stopped in other 4 star hotel the standards set in this one leave a lot to be desired
All these comments were passed on to Leah on reception before leaving

Between us me and my friend have stayed in five different Qhotels so when we decided to visit York we looked for a Qhotel and the Aldwark manor looked lovely on the internet. We paid for a two night stay in a twin room.
First impressions were good. The outside is beautiful and the main reception is in the old part of the manor house and there was a roaring fire to greet us. We checked in, booked a table for dinner and went up to our room. This was in the newer part of the hotel but we are only sleeping there. First issue. The bed is a double, not twins. Down to reception we go and we are assured that the bed will be made into twins (it was later). We go to the spa and then for a drink before dinner. The waiter in the bar ignored us for a good five minutes even though we were the only people waiting to be served. We finally ordered the drinks asking for them to be put on the room. We were told a tab hadn't been opened and we needed to go to reception. I was made to feel I had to go immediately even though we were staying the night and eating in the restaurant. I went and set up the tab. We were not asked to do this on arrival even though we booked the restaurant when we booked in.
The restaurant was canteen style, no atmosphere. The food was "ok", the drinks expensive £10 for a glass of average red wine. At least it had some taste which is more than can be said for breakfast. How on earth they managed to find bacon that was completely and utterly tasteless is beyond me. We had to ask for bowls for the cereal and the waiter actually came out to check there were no bowls before going to get some more.

So we complained before going out to York for the day. We were told our comments would be passed to the manager. We collected our key on returning in the evening but nothing was said about our comments. We went to our room to discover that the cleaning staff hadn't even replaced the wet towels we had placed (as told by a sign on the mirror) in the bath tub. As the towels were still in the bath tub we can assume that the bath wasn't washed out either. The shampoo and shower gel hadn't been replenished and neither had the tea and coffee. I think the only thing that had been done was the beds had been "made"
Needless to say we won't be returning to this hotel and I will consider carefully before booking another Qhotel.
We did complain again at checkout and they did take some money off our bill but we would have rather have had a nicer stay than saving a few quid.
Shame on you Qhotels

We stayed in the bridal suite. When we got there the room was nice but there was orange peel and banana skin left in the bin. The bed sheets were stained and there was hundreds of dead flies. We ordered a hot chocolate to the room and it was cold. For the money we paid we didn’t feel valued as a newly wed couple.

Dear Faizal M I was disappointed to read your review and am sorry that you didn’t have a good experience during your recent stay. The lack of cleaning you describe is something that is simply unacceptable at our hotel and I’ve already discussed your feedback with our housekeeping team, who take pride in the hotel and are making sure that all bedrooms are as clean as possible. Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. Best wishes, Steven Lawson General Manager

Hi I think it was about 30 minutes away by car, there may be a local bus from the village but it is situated in the countryside.
