We stayed at Kaamasen Kievari from the 28th of December to 4th of January. Everyone we encountered here were lovely people and they couldn’t do enough for us. The room itself was very cosy and comfortable, we had two single beds in our room so we just pushed them together. The surrounding areas are beautiful and we were glad we had a car to travel around in. I would definitely recommend trying out some of the activities on offer, all great value for money and really good fun. Thank you for all the staff making our holiday perfect!

We didn’t stay in the hotel but joined both the snowmobile and aurora hunting activities. Not only are both activities well planned, the hosts of the activities (Kirsi and Antti) are also SUPER FRIENDLY! They took good care of us during the activities in the cold winter and offered us very useful local advices. We surely will miss this place and we hope to return again very soon! *we had also dined in the restaurant and the meals are great :) ** sorry that pictures of aurora hunting are not provided here since they are not on my phone but in the camera and not yet been backed up

We stayed here in 2013 and decided to return on this trip too for 2 nights. Definitely recommend! The staff are so helpful and the location is great to explore Inari, visit the Sami Museum and enjoy this picture postcard area of Finland! There is a restaurant and small shop. Food is great. Breakfast very nice and lots of choice. As with all Finnish cabins you have to pay extra for bed linen and towels. Cabin can accommodate a lot of people easily (just 2 of us!). Sauna was lovely (private sauna in cabin). No WiFi in the cabin but there is in the restaurant. TV has lots of working channels. Our only complaint-there was a noisy air conditioning unit we couldn’t switch off, and it would have been lovely to be able to light the fire but no logs were provided. Owner has a beautiful dog and can give you lots of local information. We really wanted to go on a trip to a reindeer herd but the herder was too busy with his animals - the owners can organise trips for you, really helpful. Thank you for a great stay!

Three of us stayed here two nights during our fishing trip to nearby lakes. The apartment was very spacious and sauna was great after spending the day outdoors. Breakfast was very plentiful and delicious. Once we also ate at the restaurant and portions were ample and appetizing. Staff is very friendly and ready to help you whatever your problem might be. The bar is also worth checking, there you can meet some locals eager to give you friendly advice whether it comes to fishing or playing pool (they do have a pool table!).

We had a perfect trip at lapland staying in apartments with sauna. The apartment was warm, nice and cozy. Staffs are super friendly and caring. Food was great at the restaurant. We joined a few activities including aurora hunting, snowshoeing and husky ride. We were able to see the northern lights on last day of the stay :) Thank you Kaisa & her family!

Warm hearted staff let you feel invited. Here you meet real people living real life. This place should include in every man general knowledge who visit north Lapland. If you have not yet been here, next time you are driving European route E75, do stop by, it will be worth of it:)

We stayed in the cottage as part of the Aurora services. It has a room with 2 single beds at level 1 and another 5 single beds at the upper deck. We are happy with all the facilities except the washer (the water inlet want connected)...otherwise it will be perfect.

Did not stay for a night as I had reserved another place, but had lunch on two days and the food is good. It's also the place where you can get fishing licenses, which is why I happened on the place. Staff seemed friendly well.

We had seen some of the earlier reviews and as this was part of a package tour for an Aurora Lights tour, we were expecting to have issues. WOW were we wrong! The management has changed recently and it must be the difference. Our cabin was exceptionally nice, very modern, clean and comfortable, super warm -and even with an internal Finnish sauna! It was just perfect and when down by the frozen river watching the northern lights (it's the perfect spot , we could warm up every so often by the log fire in the common hut. Our hosts Kaisu & Sam were lovely and could not do enough to make us and everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Highly recommend this little spot. We stayed a week and wanted to stay 3 - we will be going back again.

We were placed in Kaamasen Kievari as part of an Aurora Service Tours package, in one of the cottages with a mezzanine and a sauna. This is not a 5* location, so don't expect luxury - these are basically summer holiday cottages that are not used in winter. The review & rating is made on that basis. The cottage was clean, comfortable & warm, despite outside temps hitting -28˚C. The beds were quite firm, but we tend to prefer them that way, and the cabin was quiet despite being near to the road.We slept in the bedroom and didn't use the mezzanine sleeping area so can't comment on it - the stairs up to it are very steep, more like a ladder, so may not suit every traveller. We also didn't use the sauna or the wood fire, though others in our group did and seemd to like them. The cottage had Wi-Fi using a 3G hotspot, but I believe that was provided by the tour company, not KK. The location is excellent for viewing the aurora - the kota (fire hut) is a good place to sit & talk between aurora episodes, and standing on the frozen river gives a wide field of view. The streetlights go out at 11PM, making it good & dark - but the kota or your cabin aren't far away if you need to warm up or have a comfort break. We only ate in the restaurant once - the menu is fairly limited and not great if you don't eat red meat, though there are fish & vege options. The food was basic but tasty, and we enjoyed it. The cottage kitchen was reasonably well equipped, and the tour company took us to the supermarket in Ivalo on the way to Kaamanen so we had plenty of supplies. The two small shops at Kaamanen obviously have a limited range of stock, but the basics are there if you've forgotten anything. Overall, the experience was very good, and entirely in line with our expectations for this type of accomodation. (by the way, for those wondering about Kaamasen vs. Kaamanen: we were told Kaamasen is a possessive form, so Kaamasen Kievari translates as "Kaamanen's Tavern")
