We are 2 couples who came to Harriniva Wilderness Hotel for a week of Aurora Borealis hunting at the beginning of February 2020. The trip was booked and organized through Responsible Travel in the UK who are very very efficient. The package includes a number of nighttime activities all designed to maximize the chances of actually getting to see it in all its glory. We were not so lucky in that respect as the weather and solar activity did not play along but...everything else is delightful. From the pickup at the Kittila airport to the check in to the amazing food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, the equipment quality and organization, the well planned activities, it was all a joy. Coming back to food, it was way beyond our expectations given the remoteness of the area and time…
I would absolutely reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting a winter activity holiday. Everything from arrival to departure was excellent. Very welcoming staff always happy to see you and friendly. Our room was lovely and comfortable and lovely and warm. Bathroom had a heated floor so nice and toasty. The food was very tasty we had breakfast and dinner included we were both very happy with everything we had. We also paid to have lunch as well. Hotel was lovely and clean. We also had included excursions Huskie safari and panorama snowmobile safari. Our guides were all very good. The Huskies are well looked after. We also booked to go to arctic sauna world at hotel jeris we really enjoyed it we did the evening and the saunas were lovely and quiet then I went for a dip in the…
Chose to visit Muonio primarily to catch the Northern Lights but didn’t manage to see them. Lodging itself is basic but nice. All rooms are in the main building, but rooms itself have a wooden cabin feel. All meals were provided onsite - surprisingly good food. Standard set of activities which include snowmobiling, husky sledding (the best activity), snowshoeing at night and a (very short!) reindeer ride
On the plus side this hotel is in a wonderful location next to the river and is stunningly beautiful in winter. We stayed in a log cabin by the river which was cosy and quiet (although we felt the basics like some tea, coffee and milk could have been provided). Also we were here for 7 nights with no cleaning whatsoever during that time - I believe there is a 10 Euro charge levied for cleaning. Meals ( taken in the main hotel) are of a high standard and food is plentiful and well presented. Staff are almost all ( with one marked exception - see later) very helpful and friendly. However for the first 3 - 4 nights there was a large group of (Portuguese?) people drinking in the bar who were drunk and very loud. The staff took no action whatsoever to address this. Worse was to follow…
Loving the simplicity of the place, friendliness of their staff, the freezingly cold weather, yet warmth of the room. Nothing fancy, but the real adventures in the snow safaris. Alaskan huskies are so cute and energetic. They're set to sky rocket once you lift your feet off the sledge. Ha ha ha... so much fun on the huskies sledge, snowmobile, reindeer sleigh, snow shoeing. Amazing people from other parts of Europe working here full of passion.
Accommodation: We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Harriniva. The accomodation was really lovely and cosy. Bathroom and living area downstairs and bedroom upstairs - open plan. Nice decoration, clean, tidy and comfortable! Lots of toiletries and a kettle provided. Standalone shower in the bathroom with towels etc. The room has central heating, which you can adjust. The room is always warm! We found we had full 4G coverage everywhere even when were were out on safari. Hotel Wifi was very good (we managed to stream movies). Unlimited tea, coffee, warm milk & powdered chocolate in the restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay. Breakfast is unlimited buffet style. Basic toast, scrambled eggs, various cereal, porridge, fruit, cheese etc. For dinner there's…
Absolutely fantastic pre Christmas trip to Harriniva in Lapland. This lovely cosy lodge is set in beautiful scenery. Activities organised including snow mobiliing, reindeer sleighs, husky riding, gingerbread baking and a fab personalised visit to Santa. My cynical 7 year old totally bought into the magic. Marie our guide, organised us all in a fun and friendly way without it being overwhelming or feeling commercialised. The food was good, although choice a little limited. The standard rooms were spotlessly clean, cosy and simple but perfectly adequate for a family of 3. The decor was authentic and the beds very comfy. Thank you Harriniva!
It was a nice stay in that hotel that is well organised. The food is incredible! The hotel rooms are comfortable. They supply the equipment you need, that is really a good address i would highly recommend. Only small negative point is that the shower is quite small and there are no other activities in the neighbourhood except the ones organised by the hotel. But this is great for a family trip with kids
My wife, 26 year old daughter and I have just returned from this amazing resort where the hosting and organisation is second to none and the experiences they provide are exceptional. We booked through Nordic Experience. From the minute we arrived our guide Mari was welcoming, knowledgeable and felt like our friend - she introduced us to husky sledding, snow mobiling, reindeers, saunas, Finnish culture and more. This included meeting Santa and his elves (which as adults was quite emotional to see the childrens reactions and took us back!) Mari also encouraged us to try an icy dip after the sauna - which we are so glad we did as we were reluctant at first but it was exhilirating. Staff all helpful and nothing too much for them - true that the Lappish people are happiest. We…
We spent one night in the aurora dome. The view is spectacular, and the hospitality is great. However, when we booked, no one told us there is no toilet in the dome. This means walking 100m in snow and -14 degrees. I am above 70 years old and need toilet a few times a night which made it impossible to sleep. Also, tempature in the dome is very hot and we couldn't adjust to have comfortable sleep. Still recommended, but not more than one night!
