Accommodation:
We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Harriniva. The accomodation was really lovely and cosy. Bathroom and living area downstairs and bedroom upstairs - open plan. Nice decoration, clean, tidy and comfortable! Lots of toiletries and a kettle provided. Standalone shower in the bathroom with towels etc. The room has central heating, which you can adjust. The room is always warm! We found we had full 4G coverage everywhere even when were were out on safari. Hotel Wifi was very good (we managed to stream movies).

Unlimited tea, coffee, warm milk & powdered chocolate in the restaurant.
We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay.
Breakfast is unlimited buffet style. Basic toast, scrambled eggs, various cereal, porridge, fruit, cheese etc.
For dinner there's unlimited starters on the buffet which include soup of the day and fresh bread (which to me was the tastiest thing I had!) and a few salads. Mains are ordered, including 2 options of either meat/fish and vegetarian. Vegetarians dishes were very plain & basic, very small portions so make sure you fill up on soup / starters! Eg, one dinner included 1 bean patty, 2 slices of potatoes, 2 carrot pieces and some sauce. Desserts are tray bakes like fruit crumble and some biscuits. Not sure on the meat because we are pescatarian. We had fish 1 night and it was ok, nothing to rave about, lukewarm when it came out from the kitchen.

Activites:
We did the husky ride and snowmobiling activities on our stay.
The husky ride is really good fun! Two to a sledge and opportunity to switch halfway through. 15 km through lots of beautiful scenic routes!! 6 sledges in the group. You can get up close with the huskies afterwards and get some pictures. The guide gave us lots of information about the dogs and introduced us to a 6 month old husky.
The snowmobiling was a 30 km ride into the wilderness and up & down a mountain with stunning views of the horizon! Rode through the forests and across vast frozen over lakes. Opportunity to switch riding halfway through, 2 to a snowmobile.
Activities are on time and well organised, guides are lovely.

Everyone is provided with snow equipment a full body snow suit, winter boots, thick warm socks, mittens, & thick leather gloves, ski mask. All the snow equipment you take out when you arrive and return when you leave so you can use it whenever you want. So you don't need to bring with you, expensive outdoor clothing (definitely recommend thermals for underneath clothing)

1 km away there is the bridge over to Sweden, to take pictures at (careful of cars crossing). 3 km, there is the town of Muonio you can walk to (we found it tough in snow gear).

Overall a really nice trip with some unique experiences which is why I would definitely come back in the future!

We had a great holiday experience staying at this hotel. Rooms are cosy warm with an attached wet room. Food was brilliant and they catered for our gluten free friend very well. Wine and other alcohol was very reasonably priced and free tea, coffee and hot chocolate was available all day and evening. The equipment we were loaned for all our experiences was first class, very high quality and clean. You really don't need to bring anything.

Not long back from an amazing stay at Harriniva Hotel, Thanks to Minna for helping to organise our stay with you, we had a great time! Stayed in a cabin by the frozen river with fantastic views, cabin had underfloor heating and it’s own sauna, which was much needed to thaw out after activities in the snow and late nights chasing the Northern Lights. The Husky sled ride of 15km was a real buzz, absolutely loved it! The Snowmoble ride of 30km was unreal! But the highlight of course was seeing the Northern Lights on two nights, we were incredibly lucky as they of course are not guaranteed. The staff are great and very knowledgeable and extremely helpful, thanks again Minna! Airport transfers provided, also, Extreme outerwear, balaclavas, gloves and boots are provided by the hotel, remember layers and wool fabrics. Amazing memories made here!

Chose to visit Muonio primarily to catch the Northern Lights but didn’t manage to see them. Lodging itself is basic but nice. All rooms are in the main building, but rooms itself have a wooden cabin feel. All meals were provided onsite - surprisingly good food. Standard set of activities which include snowmobiling, husky sledding (the best activity), snowshoeing at night and a (very short!) reindeer ride

Stayed in a cabin with a group of friends for 5 nights. We had all meals included. The buffets were so large that we could have skipped lunch a few times. Food was delicious.

Activities: We did the snoe-shoeiing, dog sledding, snowmobile tour and a reindeer ride at night. The reindeer sledge was a total bummer. You just sit/lay very uncomfortable in a sledge and a lady walks beside you to guide the reindeer. It's a very slow circle around the lake and that's it. Afterwards we were not allowed to pet or touch the reindeers, had a drink and that was it. Total waste of time and money.
All other activities were great!

Upon arrival; Harriniva provides you with all the gear you need which is very handy.
Cabin was quite a walk in the snow but it was cosy and comfortable with a sauna. They provided wood for the fireplace and everything else you might need. Good bathroom and kitchen. Bring drinks/snacks with you, there are no stores in the area.

We hiked in the area and around the lake when we had no planned activitities. Hotel also booked us a taxi to go to the Ice Hotel. Very much recommended but keep in mind a return trip costs around 300 euros.

Would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic pre Christmas trip to Harriniva in Lapland.

This lovely cosy lodge is set in beautiful scenery. Activities organised including snow mobiliing, reindeer sleighs, husky riding, gingerbread baking and a fab personalised visit to Santa. My cynical 7 year old totally bought into the magic.

Marie our guide, organised us all in a fun and friendly way without it being overwhelming or feeling commercialised.

The food was good, although choice a little limited.

The standard rooms were spotlessly clean, cosy and simple but perfectly adequate for a family of 3. The decor was authentic and the beds very comfy.

Thank you Harriniva!

We have just returned from a 3 day trip via Inghams and wanted to leave a review with a massive thank you to Harriniva for making our stay truly amazing.

We had a mezzanine suite which was ideal for us a family of 3, giving us separate sleeping areas. The decor was traditional with a modern twist. Lots of the other hotels we looked at seemed to be quite basic, but these suites are really lovely.

All of our excursions (reindeers, snowmobiles, santa, snow fun, huskies) were included in the package and they were run so well & all so enjoyable. Mari looked after our small group and she is an absolute asset to Harriniva, she was so friendly, helpful & great with the kids.

We had the added bonus of having an introduction to skiing which was unexpected, we all had so much fun that we're now thinking of booking a ski trip.

The food was included in our package which was a set menu each day but also with a vegan/vegetarian and a kids menu. Though the choice was limited, the food we had was good and presented incredibly well and there was soup, salads & breads too.

I'd say we have pretty high standards when it comes to hotels and this didn't disappoint.

We would return in the heartbeat. Thank you again Harriniva.

Had the pleasure to go in our first husky safari with Harriniva, from their safari point in Kilpisjärvi, and it was simply an amazing experience.
The whole thing happened at beginning of March, started at about 10:00 with getting the equipment needed, spending some time with the huskies and watching how the sledges were prepared, getting the instructions of how to control the sledge, and followed by the ride itself. And when the dogs start running, it was like something unreal was happening. A wonderful feeling in the heart of the nature, with snow all around. At the beginning the sky was clear and sun was warming up, after about 4 km we got in a snow storm, and at the end was again sun and pleasant atmosphere.
The guys from Harriniva are extremely thoughtful and friendly, so everything was perfect.
We could not choose better for our first husky safari, it.s a memory that will stay in our minds forever. And my wife, who wished for this experience for years, was extremely excited.
Highly recommend them, our next safari with them will be snowmobiling and hopefully next year we’ll be able to go to the hotel in Muonio as well.
Thank you Harriniva!

Just back from a week’s trip to Hotel Harriniva. Hubby and me and our 14 year old daughter. Every part of this trip was a highlight. Seeing the Northern Lights twice from just outside the hotel next to the frozen river, husky trips, cross country skiing trails, ice fishing. Also visited Artic Sauna World at Hotel Jeris and the reindeers at Torassieppi. Everything was wonderful about the activities, all of the guides were super friendly and well informed. All of the staff at the hotel were so friendly and genuinely helpful and they made the whole trip very easy as everything thing was organised so well. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We were half board with a hot and cold buffet breakfast each morning and delicious hearty meal each evening. We had an early flight home and they provided us with a breakfast bag for the trip. Our accommodation was basic/standard but spacious and extremely comfortable. We were sad to leave and felt truly blessed to have visited this wonderful place.

Hi! A ski coat should be enough for when you're out on your own but not for more than 1 hour or so. You'll also need many extra layers in order to avoid being cold. We were also given the opportunity to rent overalls for the day should you want to go for a walk, I strongly recommend it since you won't be warm enough with just your ski coat for a full day.
