Holiday Village Valle is family owned small hotel in the most remote and peaceful area of Finland – Utsjoki! We offer high quality accommodations, food and activities, with out big industrial tourism. Our roots are strongly in the area and in the indigenous Sámi culture. We stand in the northern most point of Finland, surrounded by great wilderness, just 80km away from the arctic ocean! Utsjoki is one of the best places in lapland to see the aurora borealis, the northern lights, because of the extreme northern location. Statistically there is northern lights in 3 of 4 nights! Welcome to experience the pristine arctic scenery and the vast quietness of Utsjoki!

This quaint little place is located along the border of Norway and Finland and proves to be one of the most prefect places to tick off seeing Aurora Borealis from your bucket list. The owner and manager of the place, Henry, is one of the most generous and enterprising hosts we have ever met. He is extremely involved with planning and executing of all your activities at the Holiday village and is very patient and accommodating as well. Since he himself is Sami, the entire experience is very authentic and memorable. We did the snow mobile safari the very night we reached, followed by the Ice fishing and a Snowshoe trek on day 2 and Husky Safari on day 3. Henry also shared a meal with us in our cabin one of the nights while entertaining us with stories on Sami culture while cooking…

Great location and cosy, clean accommodation perfectly tailored for a adults and kids to explore what the North has to offer. The personal touch through the owners' direct involvement in the activities in combination with the independence and privacy thanks to the individual spacious cabins (sauna included, of course) made this an unforgettable trip.

We stayed in Holiday Village Valle for three days in mid-December 2015. We arranged the trip directly with Henry, flew to Ivalo and hired our own car to drive up to Utsjoki. Utsjoki is a border village on the Finland/Norway border. The holiday village is just outside Utsjoki, a little collection of cabins in a peaceful, scenic location by the side of a river (frozen in the winter). The cabin was lovely and cosy with its own sauna. We had all the facilities for self-catering, although whilst we were there, a little restaurant was being built which I imagine is finished now. Henry Valle is a brilliant and charming host, and organised everything for us, including extra layers of cold weather clothing. On the first evening we had an amazing time chasing the northern lights in…

One of the best places I've ever stayed in - a cabin to myself with all mod cons, a sauna, an open fire, right on the river front; clothing for all activities provided by the Valles themselves; great activities; and amazing customer service. Henry Valle's son - also named Henry - runs all the activities, and was an amazing host: collecting me when I arrived, bringing me to the local shop for groceries, driving me to the Holiday Village, providing the activities, and dropping me back to the bus station when leaving. The cabin itself is huge, comfortable, warm and just blissful - post-activities, there's nothing like firing up your own sauna, followed by your own open fire as you relax. Just perfect.

A cabin in the mountain, next to the river, with a sauna and a log fire. This is like heaven on earth. Certainly the best place we've stayed the entire time we've been in Finland. Henry is a tip top host. Good idea to bring some basic food and drink supplies if you arrive late at night (bread, coffee, milk, that kind of thing) as nothing much around here. We love it - quiet, peaceful, picturesque :-)

I had a great week at Poronpurijat, Utsjoki. This was my first trip to Europe and to Finland. I chose to spend a week at Utsjoki to photograph Aurora Borealis. I got to know of this location and Henry Valle from the website, http://www.onlyinlapland.com/meetthelocals/local/734/ Henry was most responsive. I was lucky to have got to this place when early snow gave a glimpse of winter in late autumn itself. From day 1 of the trip day 5, I got great guidance about the place, its history, environmental aspects, energy demands, salmon fishing, sami culture, flora & fauna, reindeer, shopping etc. I was very well looked after by Henry. I was provided required snow clothing to manage the cold. I went from 30 deg cel in Bangalore, India to minus 10 at Utsjoki. The cottage was…

This was truly a holiday of a lifetime, every activity was totally amazing, the snowshoe safari, the ice fishing and a explanation of the Sami Culture and history really was so very interesting. The snow mobile safari up into the wilderness of the fells was another highlight, as was Henry's skillful driving, the Northern lights evening will stay very long in my memory. The day spent with Eric and the remainder herd again having a lunch and pan coffee in a traditional Sami hut was fabulous. Seeing the elusive ptarmigan, wild reindeer and Elk, The husky safari was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had. Our log cabins with sauna was, warm, very clean and a superb location. The loan of the boots and warm overgear were fabulous. Skis and snowshoes were ours to…

We booked our tailor made week at this amazing place through White Circle Travel. Our trip as a party of 5 friends turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences ever. I honestly cannot fault this place in any way. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt part of the Valle family, experiencing the Sami culture and wonderful home cooked meals, sometimes served by a campfire in a traditional tepee and which often consisted of local produce straight from the fells. If you have any special dietary needs Anna will ensure you have whatever you need - in my case an intolerance to lactose and nothing was too much trouble, including when taking packed lunches out for the day. Our host for the week was the wonderful Henry who made sure we had everything we…

Seeing the Aurora Borealis (Northern lights) had turned from a dream into an obsession. So when I started researching Lapland, Utsjoki made sense as it was high up in the North and one of the top 3 places to see the lights in Europe. So I made contact with www.saamivillage.fi who put me in touch with Henry Valle, who's family ran the Lomakyla Valle holiday village in Utsjoki. Right from my first email exchange with him till the minute I departed, every element of my trip was well planned and executed. I had a beautiful cottage with my own kitchenette, sauna, TV room and bedroom. The family dogs woke me up everyday. Henry provided me with arctic gear - overalls, mittens, woolen socks, snow boots, head gear, balaclava and a helmet. He planned my 4 days very well - I went white…
