We offer high quality accommodations, food and activities, with out big industrial tourism. Our roots are strongly in the area and in the indigenous Sámi culture. We stand in the northern most point of Finland, surrounded by great wilderness, just 80km away from the arctic ocean! Utsjoki is one of the best places in lapland to see the aurora borealis, the northern lights, because of the extreme northern location. Statistically there is northern lights in 3 of 4 nights! Detailed Reviews
Having failed in our attempt to seek out the Northern lights earlier in 2017 in Nellim, we decided to go venture even further north to Utsjoki and ended up at the Holiday Village Valle over the Christmas week. And what an excellent decision it turned out to be!
The Aurora Borealis greeted us four nights out of the seven nights that we spent in Holiday Village Valle with the best display on Christmas Eve over the Holiday Village itself.
As for the Holiday Village... the Holiday Village comprises log cabins, a newly built hotel and a restaurant. We stayed in the hotel. The rooms were warm (it was -30 degrees outside on some days) and comfortable with TV (albeit with limited channels but we did not watch much TV), fridge, hairdryer, kettle, tea and coffee making facilities, modern bathrooms (shower not bath) and amazing Wifi.
Deatnu restaurant was where we had all our meals and it is about 70 m from the hotel. Breakfast was simple but adequate with the usual cheese, cold meat and fish, bread, cereal, yoghurt, bacon and oatmeal, boiled eggs. Lunch and dinner was usually a soup, salad and a main dish (changing each day - fish, chicken, beef reindeer, elk etc. Fish was particularly delicious and tasted much better than the fish we get in the city). The food was delicious and of high quality. There is also a bar in the restaurant and Tommy, the bartender makes a mean gin and tonic.
The Holiday Village is located in a very remote area of Finland and is sparsely populated. It is a wonderful retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life in the city and you can finally hear yourself breathe and savour the silence and clean air. Utsjoki village is 2 km away where there is a supermarket, handicraft centre, petrol station, cafe and bar. Having been in both Nellim and Utsjoki, if you compare the two, Utsjoki is more rustic and the tourism industry here is less developed than around Lake Inari, which is more organised. The landscape is very different too with Utsjoki much more hilly and rougher (Nellim surrounds a lake and is much flatter).
Activities are available and we went to a reindeer farm, a husky safari (across the border in Norway, an hour's drive away) and did some snowshoeing and dabbled with cross country skies. Warm winter clothes, mittens, hats and boots were also provided as part of the package that we had booked.
The best aspect of the Holiday Village Valle must be the amazing group of staff. Headed by Henry Valle, they were all wonderfully friendly, sharing stories of their lives; extremely helpful and going out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible - Danny, Tommy, Lornatuli (apologies if misspelt), the chef, housekeeping etc. We were misinformed about the time for breakfast on boxing day and some of our group arrived long after breakfast had ended, but the kitchen whipped up separate plates of food for the late comers which I thought was a nice touch. Just an example of how helpful and obliging the staff are!
Utsjoki and Holiday Village Valle is a wonderful and comfortable retreat with modern facilities and good food in a remote beautiful location. I have no hesitation recommending this getaway to anyone.

Seeing the Aurora Borealis (Northern lights) had turned from a dream into an obsession. So when I started researching Lapland, Utsjoki made sense as it was high up in the North and one of the top 3 places to see the lights in Europe. So I made contact with www.saamivillage.fi who put me in touch with Henry Valle, who's family ran the Lomakyla Valle holiday village in Utsjoki. Right from my first email exchange with him till the minute I departed, every element of my trip was well planned and executed. I had a beautiful cottage with my own kitchenette, sauna, TV room and bedroom. The family dogs woke me up everyday. Henry provided me with arctic gear - overalls, mittens, woolen socks, snow boots, head gear, balaclava and a helmet. He planned my 4 days very well - I went white bird hunting, ice fishing, snow shoeing, skiing and finally husky sledding. I saw the lights every single night just outside my doorstep! i didn't have to pay exorbitant prices for sightings. The experience was fantastic. Anne Valle was a very warm hostess and cooked delicious meals. The Valle family were very kind, generous, welcoming and loving. I will go back again just to see Utsjoki in summer. I highly recommend this holiday village to everyone looking to escape commercial tour companies in return for great hospitality.

We did not stay here but we did take part in a Sami Event/Dinner organized there. Henry Valle was our host and it was really a nice experience, to hear all the stories about the Sami people and eat the typical Sami food (the mushroom soup was excellent!). Henry even sang for us <3

Vietettiin mukava loma. Pääsiäismenu oli erinomainen. Lomakylä veti ystävälliseti ladun tunturiin, joten oli hieno hiihtää. Uudessa hotellissa oli nukuimme erinomaisesti. Wc/pesuhuone oli todella suuri. Hieno paikka Tenon rannalla

Olen useiden vuosien aikana patikoinut, vaeltanut ja hiihtänyt Utsjoen tunturiylängöillä. Vuodesta 1987 alkaen tukikohtanani on ollut Lomakylä Vallen Tenojoen, kuuluisan lohivirran rantatievalla sijaitsevista laadukkaista mökeistä joku. Etelässä niistä käytettäisiin pikemminkin nimitystä huvila - niin hyvä on niiden taso ja varustelu monipuolinen. Lomakylä Vallen lähiympäristössä sijaitsevat Kaldoaivin paliskunnan alueella, Utsjoen itäisellä puolella muinaisten saamelaisten pyhä Ailigastunturi sekä Paistunturin paliskunnan alueella Utsjoen länsipuolella mm. Pieni- ja Isoäimäjokivaara. Niistä länteen Rihtaoaivilta luoteeseen on vanha poroerotuspaikka, jossa erotuksia pidetään vuosittain ainakin huhtikuun alkupuolella. Suunnistamista helpottavat kauaksi näkyvät Ailigas, jonka laella on korkea viestintäliikenteen linkkimasto, ja Utsjoen kylätaajamasta noin 30 km:n etäisyydellä itäluoteessa Norjan Ruijan korkein tunturi Rasttigaisa (1066 m).

As a group of 3, we stayed in one of the 2 bedroom cabins down on the river for 3 nights in late September. It was so cute!
In addition to the 2 bedrooms, each with 2 twin beds, you've got a nice bathroom, private sauna, spacious living room area, kitchenette and a table with bench seats. We had stopped at a grocery on our way so we had breakfasts in our cabin while enjoying our view of the river and all the fall colors.
Your choices for eating out are limited but the Deatnu Restaurant, on premises, is a great option. It was too cold to enjoy the deck but the restaurant is lined with huge windows to enjoy the scenery from the warmth.
We did not take advantage of any of the activities, but they did look interesting. We hiked along the river and just relaxed. Having a sauna right in the cabin felt very luxurious!
It was very cloudy while we were there, so we only saw the northern lights one night. It was very magical to sit on the porch of our cabin and watch such a special natural phenomenon.
Our only regret was only have 3 nights.
The personalized customer service that we experienced was top notch!

We spent the last week in February 2019 in this wonderful hotel. Starting from the arrival at the airport we had a fantastic time in Lapland. The hotel arranged the transfer from the airport, which worked without any problems or delays. We had a booked a nice, modern and charming room in the hotel. Everything was very clean, the food was fantastic and also the hospitality. It is a nice, quiet and beautiful area, which helps a lot to slow down and relax. We have been extremly lucky to see fantastic Northern lights during 2 nights. In addition we had wonderful activities like a tour to the northern ocean, a husky tour, hiking with snow shoes etc. All activities have been perfectly organised from the hotel and here also a special Thanks to our guides, Antti, Henna & Anne. All of them did a fabulous job to make this week to a very special and unforgettable time. Not to forget an impressive traditional dinner at a Sami hut. Thanks to all for a fantastic week and hope to see you again in the future !

Booking.com.

Hello! Yes, we have on list also some glutein free serving
Hi there!
Everything is possible up here. Most challenning part might be fisrt 100 kilometer from Utsjoki to Ivalo. Anyway it so early winter and usually we get bad snowstorms in february so i believe you will have good roads on that time. Thought i still recommend to leave in morning. You need one hour for check in to flight and three hours for driving just in case if something happens on the road.
Hello Wendy, I think you already sent a message for us via email, but anyway i will answer in here aswell so everyone else also can read answer.
We are full booked on those dates unfortunately.
You will find our website from company's info. There is information about our tourpackages, activities, accommodation and foodservices.
Nearest airport is in Ivalo, 170 kilometers from Utsjoki. Second is in Kirkenes in Norway, 220 kilometers from Utsjoki.
If you book a tourpackage airport transfers are included. In other cases i recommend to check public transportations.
We also provide private airport transfers for private groups. Send us an email and ask offer.
I hope there was any help for you. Don't hesitate to take contact for further information.
Best regards,
Henry Valle
