Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located just outside of the city of Toender, very quiet place and staff very friendly. The rooms are clean and sufficient to pass one or several night near the danish border. I didn't try the breakfast so I can't judge.

Conveniently located in walking distance to the city centre. Stayed one night from Sunday to Monday in connection with a booked arrangement "sort sol" (black sun). Did not expected much but luckely a pleasant surprise! Nice comfortable bed and bedding of ok quality. Our room had everything we needed, a small table and two chairs as well as a tv (only DR). But it seem like it varies a lot from one room to an other. Our bathroom really need a serious work-over! The lighting in the bathroom could be better. The cleaning and maintenance of the building and surroundings seems ok. One of the bed lamps did not work properly, the bulb was flashing. Upon arrival the key was placed in an envelope in a basket, no staff. There were rarely staff on the site, however, they could be called. Wifi was ok. The including dinner after the Black Sun, were simple, only one course (chicken breast) and some of the side dishes were empty when we entered the dining room a few minutes after opening. Breakfast was ok, not a big selection. There was not enough coffee, the thermocouples were almost constantly emptied. Therefor I only succeeded to get one cup. My first piece of rye bread was moldy! But I guess one get what you pay for and it is not a hotel.

This is a hostel where i will always return with pleasure most because the personel and the manager. It's more like a summer camp with a trailer parking nearby and with free access to an indoor swimming pool belong to Tonder city. You can find a shared clean kitchen and a dining room. Have only breakfast here and explore the area for new experiences the rest of the day. German border is at few miles and In Niebull you can find Rhodos Taverna where Niko offers an excellent Greek Kitchen. See Westerland on Sylt Island.

You pay separately for breakfast and for sheets and towels here, but all in all, this place is cheaper than anything in the area, and you get what you pay for. It is a standard, simple Danish hostel with private rooms available. We stayed here to cut our holiday drive in half, and it was sufficient. Not in any way charming or cozy, but a bed for the night with very friendly staff and tons of families and nice people around. The room we stayed in had its own bathroom and shower, and there was actually enough space to accommodate 4 people. Noise levels were not the worst, but the walls are quite thin so a bit noisy. All in all, if you're looking to save some money, not bad, but be prepared for something simple.

We came to Tonder to get married and one of the requirements was a bill of 3 nights in a hotel. We wanted to find a cheap option and got recommended Danhostel. We booked a double room on phone. The linen and the towels were supposed to be not included in the price and we booked a room without a TV as we knew we wouldnt watch it anyway. When we arrived, we got upgraded without even asking for it, we got free sets of linen and were allowed to park our car right in front of the reception. The room that we stayed in was clean, had its own shower and toilet, a flat screen TV. It was freezing outside, but we put the heaters on full therefore the room was warm and cosy. The INTERNET WAS FREE - paper slips with the passcode were stacked at the reception window. There was a coffee machine at the reception (not free of charge). We were also informed that there was a kitchen and a pool. We didnt use the kitchen and we only saw the pool while driving past - it looked really big and bright as it had a glass wall. The location is perfect for those who come to Tonder to get married as the Råthus, the registry office and the town center are 500 meters away from the Danhostel. It is right at the border of Germany and there are Lidl and Aldi 10-15 minutes drive from the hostel. Easy and quick access to Sylt (by a rail). It was the first time we stayed at a hostel, but I must say Ive expected much worse. There was nothing I could complain about really, keeping in mind the price we payed and the location.
