This was a return visit to Barefoot Manta, with 8 members of my family. It was even better than previously! With wonderful diving and beaches still a feature, we were delighted with the great food and the constant improvement in accommodation. Previously know as a backpacker resort, it is much better than that now. But one thing has not changed...

I stayed four nights at barefoot manta and this was my favourite place in the Yasawas. I got the six dive pack and I highly recommend it if you are into diving. The dive team is great (especially my guide Lai). Both the snorkel and dive are great in this area. The resort has good facilities and food. It's comfortable...

Stayed there for 1 night over Christmas. Very pleasant, well run resort. My only gripe was the food plan. The meals were good quality but servings way too small. Rather than restaurant style food I would have preferred a buffet or at least more generous servings for FJD85 per person a day. Other than that an enjoyable stay so 4...

This one was of my favorites in the Yasawas. It was very hard to leave. The beachfront bures are perfect and the staff were really helpful and friendly. The food was very good also. For a solo traveller this is a perfect place to meet fellow travellers. totally recommended!

I stayed at Barefoot Manta Island for 2 weeks and I highly recommend it to everyone! I traveled solo and I stayed in a great bure right on the beach with a private hammock. I enjoyed the food there; lunch and dinner offered 3 different choices and breakfast was buffet-style with a made-to-order egg station. Tea and coffee were available...

Couldn't disagree more with the previous review. Beautiful island, the best snorkelling in Fiji, the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating (especially to my mediocre volleyball skills) and the food was amazing. Incredible to see after most of the buildings were destroyed less than a year ago by the tsunami. Very interesting to meet Justine and learn about all the...

Dear Management, Do you ever read your reviews? You should. If 45 out of 50 people complain about the food, shouldn't that make you rethink your Kitchen setup?? You charge a whopping 85 FJD (about 40 USD!) per day for food. Guests have to pay, no matter if they eat or not! And you serve lousy, mostly cold/semiwarm food without...

Dear NFZ2015, Thank you for your feedback. We read all reviews and take them seriously since they are the best way to see if we are getting it right at the resort. I am not sure where you got your statistics in regards to complaints from. We review our kitchen set up and meals regularly (along with all operations at...

Just across the channel that Manta Ray passes by for food. We saw them 2 days in a role during our stay. Beautiful beaches that can snorkel right outside our room. Friendly and helpful staff and nice meal :)

I visited this island for two nights at the end of a week catching up with friends in Fiji. I had an en suite Bure on the sunset beach, with a delightful outdoor bathroom, its own deck and direct access to the beach. Perfect for a relax before returning home to work. Loved the food: 4 choices for lunch and...

Barefoot is for those that want to get away from it all. I loved the Beach Front tent style bures, watching the sunset on our little deck and really feeling back to nature. The food is absolutely fine, there's plenty of it and when choosing an island in the middle of nowhere at this great price point, expectations can't be...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Going Barefoot" is about the feeling of freedom and living in harmony with our environment. We don't refer to our island as a "resort". Our eco-lodges are about living simply and sustainably. Rather than a tourist destination run by technology, Barefoot is a concept fuelled by feeling. Our island is deliberately uncomplicated, unfussy and unpretentious. For both guests and staff, the sensational natural environment - land, sea and air - brings about a special frame of mind - carefree, receptive and aware. Barefoot Island, known traditionally as Drawaqa Island, lies in the Southern Yasawa Islands of Fiji. The breath-taking coral gardens, situated just off the coastline are amongst the finest in the world. We offer visitors a tranquil environment, with the gentle sound of the waves lapping the shore. Our eco-lodge is the perfect destination for nature lovers in search of a one of the few Fijian islands unspoiled by man. Guests can expect unparalleled manta ray safaris in one of the best locations for dive enthusiasts: spectacular snorkelling and excursions, beautiful coastal and forest trails, visits to nearby Fijian villages, kayaking...the list is endless. Step onto our island and lose yourself in the world of Blue Lagoon and Castaway. Allow yourself to settle into "Fiji Time," and you'll come to discover a virtual treasure trove of things to explore - both on land and in the surrounding waters. ... more   less
