My wife said it best - "There are two things wrong with Ballyfin" To which I thought - Really? You can't be serious! She continued "Leaving and no other property can ever live up to it."
Ballyfin is, by some margin, the nicest place we...More

Rumors and reviews did not disappoint - wow factor from when you walk up the steps. Returned to a different era but yet not uncomfortable to lose yourself in. My favourite was the "Versailles" room, draped in Gold with sublime chandelier from Napolean's sister!. All...More

Hi, I haven't done it myself but I am from the vicinity. The train from Dublin takes approx 1 hour. You can book your train seats in advance via Iarnoid Eireann. The taxi drive from Portlaoise station takes a maximum of 15 minutes. I'm sure if you call Ballyfin in advance and let them know what time your train arrives that they will gladly send a car for you. Enjoy your stay there, I hear it's out of this world. Hope this helps!
