Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's almost unbelievable how good this place is. It's an old house with amazing attention to detail in every respect - fascinating quirky artwork, handmade joinery in the bathroom (by the owner to a very high standard) and arguably the best breakfast we have ever had. It was worth the 3 hour drive for the quince marmalade alone, and the breakfast trifle is a masterpiece. The bed (in the downstairs room ) was also huge and very comfortable. David is as kind and attentive a host as you will ever find. This is how bed and breakfasts are meant to be, but so rarely are.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed everything Hartington and Parsons House has to offer. I am pretty sure you had a good break and you obviously enjoyed the home made quince marmalade. Unfortunately future guests are going to have to wait until October when the quinces are harvested. They will have to manage with homemade 3 fruits marmalade !

One of the best B&Bs we stayed in our two months traveling in the UK. The B&B decor is a quaint and quirky mix of styles. There was free onsite parking and the B&B is very convenient to local pubs for dinner, although it may be worth trying to book ahead for dinner. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh ingredients and tailored to individual preferences. No TV, but we don't watch TV, and no kettle in the room, but tea on a tray was always ready on time. The ensuite shower had sufficient water pressure and hot water. Hartington is an attractive place to stop in the Peak district, an archetypal English village. Nearby Bakewell is rather touristy, but a tourist can't complain about that.

This is our second visit and it was just as good. B and B is very conveniently situated in village so handy for walks and pubs and cafes. The house is beautifully decorated, comfortable and David, the host, is wonderfully hospitable, offering us tea and excellent coffee whenever we came in. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Enjoyed the chat too.

Parsons House is a very nice, cosy yet rustic environment. We had a great personal service from David, the long term host. If you like a a fresh pot of tea at any time, he's our man! It is set in a beautiful location and is just wonderful. Mind not to trip over Maude the Cat!

Warm, comfortable and extremely welcoming and friendly. Outstanding breakfast with great conversation. My wife and I have visited many bed and breakfasts around the UK and this is up there with the very best of them. Thoroughly recommend.

Thank you for such a fantastic review. I have been carrying out bed and breakfast for 18 years and I still really enjoy it. You probably knew that anyway. I know I have said this before in many reviews but we are so lucky with the local produce.

This stay was a wonderful birthday present from our daughter. Very comfortable B&B.. Lovely mix of decorating styles. Host, David, couldn't do enough for us. Font of knowledge on all things local. Excellent breakfast. Home made marmalade not to be missed. Highly recommended.

Really comfortable B&B in pretty Peak District village. Breakfast was lovely, full of home made goodies. We had the warmest of welcomes and would wholeheartedly recommend this B&B. There are lovely White Peak walks to be had from the front door and decent gastropubs a strollaway.

David was the perfect host. He was very attentive without being instructive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The room was extremely comfortable. His home cooked breakfasts were out of this world. The tray of freshly brewed coffee waiting for us at our door every morning made us feel like royalty! The endless pot of tea and shortbread on return from a beautiful 10 mile walk on the doorstep was perfect! Good beer and pub food available in the village. Great communication from David and a car parking spot on the drive. We had the perfect, relaxing break. Thankyou David.

From start to finish, our weekend break here was devine. From the moment we arrived David was attentive, friendly and relaxed. I cannot praise the service we received highly enough! The B&B is charming; the bedroom luxurious with a fantastic shower. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, made with locally sourced produce. The personal touches made staying here an absolute delight! It had started to snow as we were preparing to leave. . . We received a phone call from David later that day to check we had got home safely; just so very kind! We are already planning our next visit and we look forward to it very much. For anyone thinking about staying here. . . You will not be disappointed.

An excellent stay; we were well looked after by our host who went out of his way to meet our needs whether it was a breakfast choice from local produce or simply a pot of tea. It was all very welcome as was the recommendation of places to eat. We also loved the quirky, arty, industrial retro vibe of our room which was very comfortable. We will be booking again!

Thank you for this review. As I have said so many times before we are blessed with really good local produce. I am more than happy to recommend places to eat but in these times it is still important to book in advance. Having said that the confirmation email always contains the telephone numbers of these local establishments. Once again thank you for the review.
