The beer was excellent, but the food was - as it was last time in the early spring - disappointing. We used to love coming to this pub and had many a good lunch pre-lockdown at reasonable prices and with good quality. Today we had two lunchtime Coabatas and some chips. The chips looked tired and reheated and for a smalal potion cost £2. My beef and red onion Ciabata for nearly £9 was a dry piece of meat with a bit of side salad garnish. The wife said her's was better even that looked less than appetising. Both salads looked tired and ythr leaves past their best. For a tenner a time (which was what the meal seffectively cost) we don't expect the world, but we do expect better than this - and whats more we used to get it at this very pub - and not so long ago either.
Called in for lunch after spotting the inn on the way from Leek.. Decided on hot roast beef ciabatta to share and a cup of home made tomato soup each. Thick slces of beef, melted in the mouth, soup hot and very tasty. Side salad and coleslaw lovely and fresh. Will definitely call in again.
Sorry for negative review but after worst Sunday lunch we ever had I have to comment. We went here after our first preference in Hartington had stopped serving between lunch and dinner. The pub is in a nice location and looks clean and tidy. Menu looked OK and the Sunday lunch was reasonably priced, or at least we thought so. When the food arrived it was instantly obvious that we had made a mistake. Vegetables limp and sad looking, cauliflower cheese was just a mushy, lukewarm mess, Yorkshire pudding was dripping in oil, stuffing ball was more like a cannon ball. On the plus side the meat and potatoes were OK, the coffee was nice and the staff were friendly. Perhaps the kitchen staff need training.
The Manifold Inn is a lovely old coaching Inn lovely Bar welcoming polite staff. Taking you dogs into bar or conservatory is not a problem. However although the menu is comprehensive and accommodates vegetarian and vegan it is poorly cooked left to dry out under infra red lights and main ingredients substituted - it would seem that the kitchen really don’t care what they turn out from lazy and badly run kitchen. The back door of the kitchen is open to the car park for all to see. Shame really because it could be a really cracking pub!
We went for a family meal due to we used to go here prior to all the lockdowns and also if camping close by . We were very disappointed and wont be returning for food again unless there are changes . The prices were incredibly high for what we got . £16 for gammon and chips but the gammon was like shoe leather and there was an insipid mushroom and tomato on the side . Very poor . The broccoli which was served with a meat pie was inedible because it appeared to have been microwaved forever and was hard rubber ,I dont know how it could be served . Someone in the kitchen obviously doesn't understand food and quality. Were so sad ,we used to love it .
