We had a lovely weekend at Wolfscote Grange Bed and Breakfast. A truly peaceful hideaway, perfectly situated for exploring the Dove valley and neighbouring villages of Hartington and Alstonfield. The rooms are characterful, clean, spacious and cosy with great views. Huge thank you to Jane, Jo and family for making us feel so welcome!
The people, food, accommodation, local area and peace and quiet are all exceptional. Joe, Jane and Grace are all lovely, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was an absolute delight. Very comfy bed with tea making facilities provided. Nice, powerful shower. Excellent location for walking with an excellent pub around 20 minutes walk. Would recommend a lengthy walk by the river.
We stayed at Cruck cottage, a quaint, cosy cottage that had everything we needed. Jane and Jo, the owners, were friendly and happy to help with anything. The walks from the door were amazing, especially along the river. We didn't find the road to the cottages a problem, plenty of passing places. Hartington village is about 25 minutes walk with some lovely shops and pubs. All in all a wonderful relaxing break.
There is a little bit of magic in this beautiful corner of the world and none more so than in the self-catering cottage we stayed in at Wolfscote Grange. Hosts Jane and Joe were happy to take a same day booking for 5 days. They were flexible, returned calls and very helpful with directions. The cottage itself was perfectly clean and had the best quality kitchen appliances and cutlery I've ever experienced with self-catering accommodation. The view from the cottage was gorgeous and the general ambience of the location second to none. Yes it's a couple of miles out from town and for us that really added to the adventure. Would go back in a heartbeat - it's a shame we live on the other side of the world! Was also very good value for money.
An altogether great experience that was filled with seclusion and beauty. Do note that the road up to the cottages is very narrow and and difficult but we managed with a large car and is to be expected!
