I came to this piece of paradise for a birthday treat and oh, what an experience. The hotel is stunning, the surroundings incredible, the staff first class. Each meal was a sensation for the taste buds and what better than to swim in a private lake, kayak, climb the local volcano

After our first stay at Jicaro Island Lodge and I need more stars and diamonds to describe our experience.

My husband and I had never before traveled to Nicaragua and a last-minute decision to escape from work ahead of the holidays landed us at Jicaro Island. Before we even

Dear Sarah, thanks for this wonderful review and thanks for being the first couple to come visit us after the reopening of Jicaro. We loved having you at the lodge and are so happy that you were able to connect with the warmth of our local staff. Thank you for trusting us when we told you it was safe to come to Nicaragua as a visitor right now. And of course, we look forward to when you come back to rent out the whole island with your group of friends in February. See you soon.

I've been fortunate enough to stay at Jicaro Island Lodge on multiple occasions, and it truly is a magical experience.

Firstly, I think it's really important to acknowledge the people who make Jicaro Island so special. In my experience, everyone I've met from the front of house

My wife and I visited Jicaro Island Lodge in May 2018 for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. Jicaro Island is a very small island in Lake Nicaragua. The resort is reachable only by boat from the Granada Marina--about a 35-minute drive from Managua Airport. The resort com

Hi, My husband and I are considering a three-week stay at Jicaro Island Ecolodge. Would that be too long given the seclusion? Do you think we should limit our stay to two weeks? Thanks, Ellen
Dear Ellen and Arnie, Greetings from Jicaro! Thanks for contacting us by this way. We have answered the questions by email :). All our best,

How remote is this island from the main town that tourists often frequent. How accessible are adventure excursions from here such as hiking and watersports? What is the timeframe from landing in nicaragua and getting to the eco-lodge?
Dear Akadorrris, Greetings from Jicaro Island Ecolodge! We hope you are doing well. Jicaro Island is one of the Isletas (small islands), just a few minutes boat ride from the colonial town of Granada, Nicaragua. Feel free to visit the town of Granada on your own! We have available boat transfers to the port at no extra charge for all Jicaro guests. You can reach Nicaragua and Jicaro at a time no later than 20:30 A variety of activities are available on the island such as yoga, wellness treatments, kayaking or artisanal fishing. At the same time, we offer full day and half-day tours to explore the nearby attractions such as the Mombacho Volcano Cloud Forest, Canopy Tours, Colonial Granada City Tour and many more. Don’t leave Jicaro without exploring our nature, culture, and history with our experienced local guides!

Hi, I have been doing research regarding traveler safety in Nicaragua. I have been seeing very discouraging posts related to mugging and kidnapping in Nicaragua. Did you have any safety concerns while traveling there? Did you have experiences there that made you question your safety? Thanks for your help! Amanda
I traveled to Nicaragua with a friend and had no problems with safety. As with any other country be smart about flaunting valuables. The people are very friendly and we had nothing but good experiences.

Hello - just wondering if there were any warnings about the zica virus that's been in the news. Were there a lot of mosquitos when you were there? Is there a better time to visit or is the weather good all year round? Thanks, Mel
Thanks for your question. As we all know, Zika is a reality, even in the US now. But we are in a remote destination in an intact ecosystem. So the likelihood of getting Zika at Jicaro is low. But of course, it is good to use repellent and be especially careful in more crowded areas. Let us know if you have any further questions via the website.

"Each casita has its own unique view, but they are all equally gorgeous. My favourite is no. 7, though purely for nostalgic reasons."
"All rooms are very good."
"every Casita is the same set up, the views are a bit different - #3 had an AMAZING view"
"All rooms are the same. If you want more quiet, I suggest asking for a room farther from the pool."
"Some of the casitas look to the rear of the property (ours was #4), still a nice view and very private, but others have a better lake view."
