This 100% ecofriendly lodge is definitely worth a stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everyone who works at stonefly are very kind and friendly, the cute yellow lab as well, although he takes warming up to. Kate and Jon were great, and eager to tell their story about the building and dream for the lodge. The food was fantastic,...

We recently spent 3 nights at this delightful lodge. The wilderness setting is fabulous, the lodge is designed to be environmentally sustainable and fits perfectly with the location. There are only 4 guest rooms, all large, comfortable and offering scenic views out over the Motueka River and surrounding mountains. The spacious lodge has a large open design kitchen, dining room,...

Stayed 2 nights at this very comfortable lodge, renowned for access to fly fishing. We do not fish, but this lodge is superb no matter what your interest. The views are amazing, and the food here is exquisite. The evening meal, prepared by chef Dean, is first class and better than many top flight restaurants in the city (any city!!)....

When we arrived at the Stonefly Lodge for our five-day visit, the weather had been fairly wet for the last several days, but as soon as John and Kate opened the doors to welcome us it didn't make a difference what the weather had been, they and the lodge were bright and cheery. The lodge is first class but appropriate...

We can't say enough about our experience at Stonefly. The lodge, the surroundings and the service were all outstanding. Our daughter and son in law are both avid fly fishermen, so fished on their own with a guide. Each caught fish. My wife and I had never fly fished before. Nevertheless, we decided to give it a go and were...

They state they are "a premier New Zealand Fishing Lodge" but in my case they did not have a guide to fish with me and the owner "John" told me that I would not be able to fish on their river unguided! He is a total jerk, arrogant and a horrible host. He did not apologize or make an attempt...

I feel obliged to respond - not quite how I recall the circumstances. I note your booking was made by your friends who booked through a travel agent as you were joining up with your friends briefly during their stay at Stonefly Lodge. Neither your friends or their travel agent indicated your interest in booking a guided fishing tour during...

A first class or rather world class private exclusive lodge with eight guests and food as good as Paris, fly fishing for Browns that can not be equaled and hosted by attentive focused owners. Go!!! This is for the discriminating world traveler to savor a treasure. Hollands

We were in NZ for 30 days and we stayed un some amazing places but this by far was our favourite. The setting by the river was breathtaking. The rooms were comfortable and very inviting. I only took a bath (which I love) twice during our stay, stonefly was one of the two places- it felt like being at home....

If you looking for a special location with breathtaking views of the Motueka River from your bedroom, and anywhere on the Lodge, in absolute luxury, then there is no better place to stay. We visited many locations in the area and none even come close to this. John and Kate, the owners of this Lodge are one of a kind....

It is without hesitation I offer Stonefly Lodge my highest recommendation.  John and Kate, the owner/operators, are completely hands-on. They are driven to provide each guest his or her best experience. The service, the food and the lodge itself are the highest quality. My fishing guide put me over fish every day under difficult weather conditions. Stonefly Lodge is the...
