Being a group of 6 people, we spent a night at the Golderli. The purpose of our visit was a 2-day backcountry skiing trip in the wonderful Kiental. The guest house is pretty rustic but charming. It has a very nice restaurant with fur on all chairs. Dinner was extremely delicious and the breakfast buffet was at the top end...

If you have another option in the area, grab it. I suppose the room was clean. The staff were unfriendly. The walls are paper thin between rooms as well as the sound traveling between the floors. There is one washroom on each floor shared by 6 double rooms. Only 2 showers, in a damp, dark basement for all the guests....

So we stopped for one night during a walking holiday. The advertising is clear that this is a pension rather than a hotel. When we arrived we were told that the bedrooms did not have keys. This was ok however the reason in the case of our room was that the door did not close. The bed we had should...

Sometimes it’s good to do something different. For us, on a walking vacation from village to village in the Swiss alps, this was something different and something good: an isolated guesthouse in a beautiful setting off the grid (no WiFi, no cellular, no television, no electrical outlets in the rooms: we came prepared with an external battery and watched a...

This hotel is situated in Griesalp and it is a traditional inn with simple rooms and bathroom and showers down the hall. The hotel has a nice outside patio where you can enjoy a beer or wine after a long day of hiking. The hotel has a super nice owner and the food there was excellent.

We were through hiking the Via Alpina from Grindelwald to Kandersteg, and chose this as one of our overnight stops. The waitress who checked us in was very pleasant and her service was great. We stayed in the dormitory style room, which is in the basement, right across from the showers/restrooms, which didn't make for the quietest night's sleep. Cleanliness...

I stayed one night in this mountain inn whilst on a walking tour. The accommodation is basic with no en-suite facilities, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Being an old building the floors creaked alarmingly. Our evening meal was good but the breakfast was marred by the profusion of flies that swarmed around the dining room - none of...

Our room looked very nice and cozy, but mattresses were older than my grandmother! We fell into a deeeep position and there was no chance to escape during the whole night. The pillows were the same age and the shared bathroom as well. It looked all so nice but then it was just a very overpriced night in a very...

Very accommodating hosts as we arrived on a very wet day. Showed us the drying room and our rooms while making us feel welcomed amongst other visitors having lunch that weren't staying there. Rooms have what you need....bathrooms at the end of the hall. Apple strudel was the absolute best I have ever had and would go back for more....

We were here for only one night as part of a walking trip. If you won't to go "off grid" for a bit, this is the place! No Wi-Fi, no mobile signal, no TV, no power sockets in the bedrooms and all the middle of nowhere. Rooms are basic - a bed and wardrobe - but comfortable. No ensuite -...
