88 € for a night is ok if you get a tidy room and a good sleep. But if there's none, you think you should have chosen better. This is what happened to us. We drove from Helsinki to Kempele to buy a motorcycle and needed a place to spend a night. We arrived after closing time but it was ok, after reminding the stuff about our arrival, we finally got instructions and got in. The room was awful. Worn, broken, dirty. The bathroom was disgusting. Spider net, dust, dirt all over. At least the beds were good and linen clean. Unfortunately our neighbors were loud speaking ladies who spoke and spoke and the noise came through the ventilator and we could hear everything. Long trip behind so we had to shout them to keep quiet. Thank god they did but they woke up at 0730 and started to talk again. The breakfast was good and plentiful. Home made bread was a nice surprise. In the real life a place like that is worth 50€, not more. At least they should clean the rooms properly and fix them. I can give five stars to a hotel which is simple or modest but clean. This was awful.…
This is a place that I would not recommend for a holiday of a few days: it is large, ugly and very basic. I do think, however, that for stopping over for a quick and good night sleep when E.g on a driving vacation or why not when travelling on business (most cars in the parking slot were in fact large vans), this not that bad a choice: easy access, plenty of parking space, the room were clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast was ok and the price very affordable.
If you have a car and want to stay close to the Oulu airport then it´s a good choice to stay for the night. The hotel itself was a 1-floor style more like a Motel. We didn´t like the interior so much as it was pretty old and pale. Big minus for not offering a breakfast package for the people who are getting up early to fly (yes we were departing at 7am from hotel and there was unfortunately no option). Although I don´t see them marketing themselves as an airport hotel.. so don´t make the same mistake like us and expect it to be. No playing room or such for children. Although afterwards we heard about a pool and honestly we didn´t check it out. Still comes back to the point, good value for the money. Except our missed out breakfast.
Deserves proper one star review. Raija the manager is one of the rudest people. Certainly not fit for hospitality business with this attitude. Too bad Wouldn’t recommend. Sad place overshadowed by bad management.
The hotel is more a kind of decayed youth hostel which is not well kept. When I arrived, my room was even not cleaned. I got then another room, but it was not much cleaner. The bathroom is somehow odd as the shower is directly beneath the toilet with only a shower curtain inbetween so that the whole floor is then wet when you take a shower. The style of restaurant and chilling areas is also a kind of barock imitation which does not fit at all to the house. Only the breakfast buffet is really good.
What this hotel has is the location. I guess they don’t have much competition since they are able to keep the prices relatively high in relation to what you get. I was hoping for it to be a cheap, little cozy hostel. Instead, it was a building with arrays of outdated dorm-rooms along long, dreary corridors. Well, we slept alright, but in my opinion, the price was at least 20€ too high. The experience was also shadowed by extremely hot weather (30C+), which is a problem when the rooms are not equipped with AC.
It's OK for the one night. We were just traveling to North, and it was conveniently on our way. A bit odd, that the reception only works from 4pm to 10pm. Meantime you have to use your own key to come to the house from the back yards door.
Friendly staff, great location for travelling to Lapland from Helsinki (about 500 km so half way there). Rooms are ok, not spaceous but I have seen worse. It was cleaned well and yes some parts were old, but that is ok. All the basics where there, and what more can you ask, it is reasonably priced and breakfast was good.
We stayed for one night with my mother in a "allergic's room" for two, and it was just terrible. The room smelled like mildew and wasn't too clean to say the least. The bathroom was horrible, and the air conditioning was very poor. It doesn't help that the hotel had been "updated" with some new paint and furniture, when there's mould in the building, a layer of new paint is going to fix it. Otherwise, the whole concept seemed to be very stuck on the 1970's or so. The place needs a huge renovation in order to stay alive.
So we stayed here before flying out of the local airport as it was relatively close by. We arrived and the hotel looked empty, we managed to make our way inside to find the only people around were the kitchen staff who thankfully were able to give us our key. We went to our room which was small in size with 2 single beds. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean but lacked any facilities. The bathroom again was extremely small and the shower head was above the sink which made showering awkward, again however the bathroom was clean. The hotel is an odd place which is in desperate need of renovation. The strangest thing was the lack of staff, throughout the whole night there were no staff on duty so when we needed the wifi code to be able to check in for our flight we couldn't get it. We tried phoning the contact number but the lady seemed to think there was no code. This meant we had to drive to the nearest McDonald's to be able to use the free wifi for check in. Overall not the best experience and if possible I would say maybe pay a bit more for a nicer stay somewhere else. …
