The place was absolutely a treasure - one could not build anything like this without being a bit grazy or at least have the passion to build sonething unique and be ready to tackle all the hurdles that must lie on the way when building anything like this. First of all the building is an old school transferred from several hundred kilometres away. It has been rebuilt and refurbished with great taste to create a beautiful B&B and lunch restaurant. The rooms not only looked nice, but they were comfortable too. Also the surroundings was nice and peaceful: they have dogs, sheep, hens (and a rooster which luckily is not waking early). Next to Harmän Rati there is a horse farm (riding) and a short one kilometre walk to a nice park. The passion shows even better in the restaurant. They combine traditional food to organic ingredients (all except for fish is organic - and the sole reason for fish not being that is the lack of certified organic fish) and modern innovation. We really enjoyed the lunch - I would never have guessed that I would love pickeked turnip (swede)... The only thing to improve is that after the lunch the breakfast was a bit of a disappointment - far too plain for this place and clearly below average of Bed & Breakfast places that we have visited - we try to choose the best ones though (and this was one of the very best - I do recommend this!)…
Nice organic lunch buffet. Also vegetarian and soup options available. Buffet nicely laid. Tasty food and friendly service. They have an outdoor seating area too. Interesting dessert; pancake with turnip syrap. It was good.
Lunch buffet in a very nice old building renovated. Check the main dish in advance, it changed everyday, it is all about traditional tasty Finnish food. There is a salad buffet (please note vinegar found in many of them, in case you do not like) and there are the soup of the day and the main course, simple, good and very reasonable price 11,50€ We leave in Järvenpää and as many locals we go several times during the summer.
This restaurant was one of top3 in Järvenpää area...Something worst is happen during spring of 2016 at kitchen. The excelence taste of food was gone, poor salad buffee and one warm soup and main meal. I do not like new style, the old one was much better, sad to say...Not my fafourite anymore...sorry...
Very nice old/new log building. Lunch buffet served Monday to Friday. Nice selection of traditional dishes. Atmosphere good, the old school building has retained its charm. Suitable place for lunch on your own or with even a large group. The hotel seems to be a side business, the restaurant and related services are the main activity.
Such a wonderful restaurant of authentic Finnish food served in a beautiful original log house. The service is friendly, the restaurant spic-and-span clean, the surroundings are beautiful with a view of the lake and birch trees all around. Definitely the place to introduce to visitors from outside Finland!
This is very new location about 20 minute drive away from the Helsinki airport. Only 8 rooms but very clean and new, made in the old farmhouse style. 2 year old hotel which originates as being an old school decades ago and moved here a distance of 500 km or so. Ideal for someone who does not like to be in the city or wants to have a VERY good night sleep. They also offer lunch and the city of Järvenpää is only 5 minute drive away. Friendliest service ever. Many thanks.
This hotel is about 3 km to the south east of Jarvenpaa, and is in a building which was an old school and which was taken apart and moved about 500km south to its current location in the countryside. It has been fully renovated and is very nice. There is no reception and when we arrived we had to use a code at the front door to get into the building. The code which had been sent to us did not work and we had to ring the proprieters to get a code which worked. We found the ensuite room rather small. Perhaps more important there was a continuous machinery noise on parts of the upper floor where the bedrooms are, and this was audible in our bedroom and disturbed us through the first night until we got used to it. We were unsure whether the noise was from air conditioning or from a drinks chiller in the dining room on the floor below.. The breakfast was good and the buffet lunch was excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming.…
We had lovely Mother's Day at Rati. Lunch was super and atmosphere was familiar. Food is traditional Finnish food. Excellent taste. Worth visiting with friends and family. If you like blues music you must experience the PuistoBlues festival after midsummer in Järvenpää. Rati has nice terrace where you can hear the music also if you don't want to go to the festival area.
