The owner of "Twin Peaks diving center" recommended the o Farrobo restaurant to us, and we're so happy he did! It can be a bit hard to find, but it's so worth it. It's a very small place, so you may have to book in advance to avoid disappointment. We had the steak for 2 both days we were there and it's one of the best pieces of meat we've had - and by far the best meal we had on Pico Island. I really loved the way it was served "family style" and plenty of food, even for our hungry teenager. Wines were also good, and you must make sure to save a little bit if space for the cheese cake - it's divine (and this is coming from someone, who's not that fond of cheese cake)
This aparthotel has very nice houses with different characteristics that are suitable for couples or families with children. Inserted in a recovered old village, it is located in a very beautiful natural area. The host Andrea is very kind and ready to assist in anything needed 24h. Highly recommended!
We spent 4 nights at O Farrobo and loved it. The room was large and spacious and it was in a great location to see the island. The owner brought our breakfast to the room each morning with hot crescents, other breads, cheese, meat, fruit, and fresh juice. It was a little difficult to find the first time and is outside of the main villages, but we loved the quiet and views. It is a short drive to the airport and to Madalena. The owners were helpful in making suggestions of things to do and we ate at the restaurant a couple of times that they run on the property. I highly recommend this property especially if you don't want to stay in a big traditional hotel.
O Farrobo is the right place to enjoy a calm and relaxing stay at Pico island. Located very the airport, Madalena and S. Roque do Pico. The old stone houses are very charming, but the best part are the super welcoming hosts. Andreia and Miguel were very helpful from the first moment, helping us contacting the car rental company we were having issues with, provided us with a great meal at 10pm in our room and a breakfast at 6am before our climb to Pico, amongst others.. great experience and totally recommend place for a pleasant stay in Pico!
I stayed for just one night in December, the lowest of the low season in Pico, and chose this place because it was close to the airport for my early flight the next morning. I didn't need much as I was solo, and I was leaving too early to partake in the breakfast, but Andreia was very nice and even offered to do my laundry. They live nearby so they are always available to get something if you need. While the owner, Andreia and her cute daughter are quite lovely, the highlight for me was Frou Frou the resident cat who lives on the property. Open the door for him a bit and he enjoys sitting on the mat just inside, observing the outdoors and standing guard over his domain. He is friendly, very affectionate and enjoys a good petting.
