David is an incredible host and so gracious to open up his beautiful home for anyone looking to get out of the city, or in our case also wanting a jumping off point for heading to Tobermory. Our room was clean, quiet and complete with all of the amenities you might want. We spent most of our time on the back porch enjoying the views and chatting David’s ear off. The breakfast spread was delicious and curated from nearby, local producers. David also insisted we take pastries on the road with us for the rest of our journey. Last, but certainly not least Harry the very sociable pup was such a treat to spend time with. As you can probably tell we loved our stay and can’t wait to visit again in the future.
David was super hospitable and prepared a lovely breakfast. The property was very beautiful, super relaxing atmosphere. The room was very well designed and the bed was very comfortable. There is a nice walk down to the river, great place for campfires. Will definitely be going back.
I’d never seen a spread like this for breakfast. Quiche , banana bread , cheeses, cereal, orange juice, grapefruit juice juice.smoked trout ....all kinds of jams. David you sure know how to spoil a person. Thank you for your hospitality and conversation. Love seeing Harry,(the dog) have such a fun time. Your home is very cozy and comfortable. I’m so glad we came across your place on the internet. PS: the sour dough bread you gave us was “unbelievable” ....thank you so much, give Harry a hug for us!
We had a lovely stay at the Traverston Retreat recently. Located in the heart of lovely, rural Ontario, this place is a wonderful retreat away from the hustle of Toronto or my home, Chicago.. The inn is quiet, comfortable and complete with wonderful Canadian antiques. My room was wonderfully quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was bountiful and full of variety. David was a great host (along with his huge, friendly pup Harry). I'd come back in a minute!
We loved everything about this B&B! Location, host, house, décor, breakfast...and even Harry the dog! David made us feel so welcome and we were instantly at home! A beautiful collection of early Canadian antiques makes this B&B very special indeed. And the name "retreat" says it all! A great place to unwind and de-stress. Thank you David...and Harry!
