Clean, comfortable, well appointed, most hospitable hosts, great location and good value for money. Lots of attention to detail. I believe a good bed makes for a great stay and Alae most certainly delivers that. Clean, crisp white linen and a comfortable king size mattress made for one of the best nights I have had away from home. Decor may...

Great location, within walking distance to Clarens square. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. There is a communal fridge and microwave available. We enjoyed our stay at the foot of the mountain

When travelling between Cape Town and Durban it is worthwhile to go off-track and visit Clarens, the jewel of the Free-State. Comfortable and affordable accommodation (R600 - double, with breakfast!) is always a prerequisite when travelling. There are as many "B&B's" in Clarens as eateries to choose from. We have never been disappointed with our stay-overs (4) @Aspen. The friendly...

Maurits and Alae were excellent hosts. The rooms are spacious with excellent views from the patios (especially the Writer's room). The whole house was kept cosy and warm during a very cold weekend, with the fireplaces being lit in the early afternoon. The breakfast was excellent and the service great!

My friends and I had a reunion in Clarens during May 2016 and we booked the Aspen Guesthouse. From the time to check in, you are treated well, and the guesthouse has 4 well furnished rooms in the main building. The owner/manager is very hand on and friendly. Each room has its own character and has all the comforts you...

Very happy with our choice. The house is well decorated and the room was lovely. The bed was comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The owner was very friendly and the breakfast was very good. Certainly would return.

The guest house is easy to find and the welcome was warm and friendly. Our room was very warm and comfortable with a magnificent view of the mountain. The guest house was astonishing clean, the floors positively shone. The break fast was served quickly consisting of all the usual cereals and frittadas, unusual but an excellent way to begin the...

A beautiful place a beautiful view and awesome owners. Guests feel at home. Breakfast is lovely. The best in Clarens. One has free access to the cosy lounge area, and coffee and tea at any time. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We have visited Clarens as a couple and with family on a number of occasions over the recent years. We have stayed at a different venue each time and this was our first stay at Aspen. Fantastic. We will never stay anywhere else again when we go to Clarens. The rooms are comfortable and homely with their chairs and blankets...

The lodge is nice, but has one big disadvantage. You can hear the neighbours showering, talking etc... We woke up several times because of the thin walls. The breakfast was very simple, but ok.Garden is small, but location nice.
