A wonderful oasis in the jungle - everything done with tender loving care. Lolo and her team were sweet. Kind and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The jungle stunning. We arrived stressed from travel mishaps but the warm welcome soon settled us and we felt right at home. Breakfast was lovely and Lolo couldn’t do enough to ensure our every comfort.
Absolutely perfect! Laurence is a very attentive and helpful host, and the place is wonderful, beautiful, calm and extremely clean. The beds are very comfortable, we slept well and the food was excellent, natural and tasty. We absolutely recommend.
Our son and his fiancé held their wedding at Mikado Natural Lodge in April, 2022. Set in the tropical jungle just outside of Tamarindo, Costa Rica, this newly constructed, pristine property was the perfect location for the event. A welcoming common area, inviting swimming pool, well appointed guest villas and inviting tropical foliage throughout the grounds ensured guests would enjoy a uniquely beautiful experience. Thank you to Lolo and staff for making this a dream day for our family!
We just returned home from our wedding in Costa Rica at Mikado Natural Lodge - the first wedding there! Lolo was AMAZING to work with! She was professional, easy to work with, and was happy to send photos & videos to us as we planned our day. Lolo and her staff went above and beyond to provide great service and detailed landscaping to ensure the venue looked even more beautiful! We appreciated the privacy and intimacy of the property which we wouldn't have gotten in Tamarindo. The bungalows were modern, stylish, and well maintained. Our wedding guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to! I highly recommend staying at Mikado as a part of your vacation, or using the venue for an event. Thank you Lolo for hosting us!
Beautiful and pristine accommodations in lush surroundings. We stayed in one of the private bungalows and were visited by howler monkeys just outside our terrace. Lolo was a wonderful host and took care of us during our stay. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and went above and beyond to help organize exciting activities. Breakfast was served poolside and we enjoyed dinner prepared by the private one evening. Everything was delicious and so fresh! We will return for another visit for sure! Thank you Lolo for your exceptional hospitality. ❤️
This is a wonderful place with beautiful cabins and Lolo cooks great food (the included breaky is something else). Beware though it is not for everyone. We had the place to ourselves-HUGE plus for me but some people like crowds. Also, the roads up are dusty and dirty. A car is a MUST-it's far from town. There is not much to do at this resort except rest read and enjoy the LOVELY pool SO I suggest to do it at the end of your trip rather than the beginning,. We also ate at Lolo's husband's restaurant in Canafistula and it is very good but took about 20 mins to drive over. If you are looking for peace and quiet and to relax.....this is the place. We could hear the howlers in the distance and we saw them in a tree down the road as well. The rooms (small cottage) is beautifil.
Five star reviews are well deserved. In the hills away from the noise and crowds, the bungalows are beautiful, clean and modern. We had such a great stay and our host Lolo and her family took such amazing care of us. Delicious breakfast every morning and if we opted to stay at the lodge for dinner, Lolo would shop locally each day for the menu. It is an easy 15 minutes or so to beaches. If you want to arrange things like horseback riding, massage, etc Lolo will take care of it for you. Do plan on using Google Maps or Waze to find the lodge. Thank you so much Lolo, we look forward to seeing you again
Mikado lodge is a wonderful hilltop retreat, and proved to be a great base for our two week trip to Costa Rica. The lodges and pool are well designed giving a feeling of space and tranquility. However much you love the beach being able to retreat up to the hills with the cooler air and quiet is very welcome at the end of the day! Lo-Lo has done a great job of building a comfortable and relaxing adobe. Lo-Lo is also a distinguished chef, and uses her years of running European restaurants to provide excellent dinner menus, as well as lovely poolside breakfasts. Mikado lodge lived up to its five star reviews. Thank-you Lo-Lo. PS GPS or Waze is pretty much essential in order to explore Costa Rica.
The 360 deg view was phenominal. The restaurant is all local and fresh food, the service was great and the little girl and boy who help their mother makes you feel right at home. You have this exhale and relaxing moment you arrive
There is such a plethora of accommodation in Costa Rica; high end resorts, eco-resorts, beach resorts etc. Sometimes it can be confusing as to which type to choose. However, if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle in a peaceful, quiet place then Mikado Natural Lodge is for you. The lodge is family owned and the owner, Lolo, works hard with her team to ensure that your stay is relaxing. This is not a large resort, there are only 6 bungalows, but the setting and peace are wonderful. We had had a busy time on our road trip in Costa Rica and stayed here at the end of our trip for five nights to totally relax. This place delivered that in spades. Essentially a high end bed and breakfast, with the option of Lolo cooking an evening meal for you, the accommodation here is comfortable and clean. The bungalows are stand alone and secluded from each other giving you privacy. They are well appointed and clean with fantastic AC and WiFi. The bathrooms are ‘semi-open’ but with netting to stop any bugs getting too friendly! There is a deck for you to sit outside and the jungle is all around you. The Howler monkeys are very vocal here and there is wildlife around (an iguana ran last me when I was sunbathing on a lounger!). There is a lovely pool ‘with a view’ and Lolo’s dog is lovely too!nWe ate at the Lodge on 2 evenings and also twice at La Finca in the nearby village which the family also owns. Be prepared to drive on gravel roads to get here but it is well worth it for the peace. For those keen on beaches they are accessible on the gravel roads 10-15 minutes away. Thank you Lolo for a great stay.…
