We had previously planned to stay here, and when we arrived, we were made welcome, to a degree.... The Dutch couple managing the auberge were friendly, but enthusiastic they were not, everything was a bit of an effort, and although there were not many guests, the atmosphere was a bit forced. The room was OK, the food was nothing really...

Stayed for one night with the friendly and pleasant owners. Easy parking to the front of the premises and a nice room overlooking the fields and wooded hill in front. The room was pleasant albeit the beds were a bit uncomfortable and could really do with an investment in new mattresses. A couple of small lights did not work and...

Friendly couple runs this very pleasant inn in the Morvan. Delicious food. The husband created special meals for my vegetarian daughter -- including an amazing terrine of tomatoes appetizer. They gave us advice about activities-- there is a lake about half an hour away.

We have been staying here for several years on our journeys through France to Italy. The Morvan is a lovely area to visit, with lots of woods, lakes, hills and little stone villages. This hotel has comfortable rooms and a lovely garden. The food is all cooked to order and has a strong Dutch influence, not surprising as the owners...

We have stayed here twice while on our travels in France and both times it has been excellent. Very clean, very friendly, excellent food and service and a beautiful, quiet location. It is worth a visit to see the area and the wildlife and a stay at the Auberge will top it off!!!

As quite clearly stated, this is a 2* hotel, so rooms are small and basic, but perfectly adequate, and that is the only 2* quality of this hotel, everything else deserves a third! Excellent welcome in any language, delicious food, and great service, who could ask for more. We travelled as a couple, but hotel is great for families too.

Was on my way from UK to Switzerland via the D roads and needed a hotel in this area. I chose this Auberge on price and location I enjoyed my stay. I was welcomed on arrival at 8pm, given a good dinner and settled in for a good nights sleep The room was basic (this is a 2*) but had...

We have visited this hotel several times. It is run by a Dutch couple. The rooms are quite small but perfectly comfortable with all the facilities you need and pretty views over the small river after which the hotel is named. The location is by a road but in the country so when the combine harvesters have passed by it...

I saw this hotel in a hotel directory whilst on a trip in France with two friends and I asked the receptionist where we were staying to help me by phoning to book three rooms in The Auberge de la Chaloire for the following night. Alarm bells should have rung when this apparently simple task took some minutes. The Auberge...

We drove to Autun - in central Burgundy - to see the end of one of the Tour de France stages. It's a beautiful town with alot of history including some roman ruins. All accommodation booked out, but we saw this hotel in a brochure. Called them up and got the last room. Very charming and a quaint location about...
