Unfortunately, we were not satisfied with this hotel, and we don´t recommend it at all. Services were really poor, and the food was horrible (there was a very small selection and dishes were disgusting and other guests were complaining about it too). Wellness is too small, and it should be renovated, as well as bathrooms in hotel rooms. The hotel doesn´t meet the quality standards of a 4-star hotel.
We looked forward to this experience. Communication prior the stay was very good and we appreciated the summary e-mail a few days prior check-in. The room was large enough, same with bathroom. Although we feel there was empty space in both, it did not feel too tiny. We were impressed how the ruins of castle were turned to the beautiful hotel. 45 minutes castle guide was enriching. Spa was small (short pool, jacuzzi for max. 6 people, infra sauna for 2, Finnish one for max. 6) and only a few places to chill. However understandable due to place where it's located. Lower restaurant was absolutely amazing. Grilled veal liver was absolutely amazing and definitely recommending. All the other meals were amazing too. Breakfast was average, pancakes were good. Dinner on 2nd day was solid, nothing exceptional unfortunately. Regarding to the areas of improvement: eco tissues in the bathroom were great and the direction to use more ecological products is great. We though did not understand one-use plastic cups in wellness area :-( Inconsistency of providing information: massage opening hours: we got 3 different answers within 5 seconds from 3 people at reception. When we checked in the room, we found out we got incorrect information. Also, Sphere club discount question: we asked whether it's applicable because we spotted Sphere magazine in the room. Firstly, we got the answer no. Then the receptionist said she will check. When we came back, we were told Sphere card is applicable and we appreciated that. During check-out, the discount was applied however the comment from the person who originally said Sphere discount is not applicable and then told me to put into the comment during the reservation was rather weird. Firstly, she is not aware and then I should have put into the comment during making reservation? Overall, we enjoyed the stay, if a few things could be improved, it would have made even a bigger difference.…
Been trying to stay here for ages and finally found a time when it wasn’t full. Checking was quick and my room was on the 2nd floor, really big with twin beds, 2 small arm chairs and a desk to work from. Nice large flatscreen TV on the wall & mini bar (which was really noisy so got turned off). Breakfast was a good choice from cereals, pastries, toast to fried, scrambled, boiled or poached eggs, omelettes, teas, coffees juice etc etc and plenty of it. We had dinner one evening and a good selection of seasonal food to chose from at a reasonable price and very good quality. Would recommend eating there if passing. Would have been good if the dragon bar was open but as there was only 6 of us in the hotel I think they thought it was not worth it. Very interesting to see what the hotel was like In ruins before being rebuilt to its current state and to see some of the history & artefacts around the hotel. Would like to stay there again in the spring summer months so we could sit outside on the patios. …
We have been for the special Halloween stay and it was immaculate. Hotel really made great effort, there was lot of animations and all the dinners perfectly thematic.. We loved the hotel premises and definitely would come back again!
What a venue! We had our wedding at Viglas Castle, we were there for two days and everything was absolutely perfect! From the moment we arrived Hricova the wedding manager was there to greet us and assist with all the guests check-ins to the time we all had to leave, everything ran smoothly and all the staff were so very helpful and friendly. Our honeymoon suite was beautiful and the staff did a great job making us feel special, and all our other guests were very happy with their rooms. The wedding was absolutely perfect, we could not have asked for a better day, could not fault one thing but that food was outstanding! Well worth travelling from Australia to stay there and we are already planning to stay next anniversary. Thank you So much Hricova and the Viglas team!
Not far off of highway. There is parking at the castle. Staff at reception was friendly. Hotel is an old Middle Ages castle that was restored 2009-2013... really amazing! Rooms are spacious, bathrooms are ok. Not a lot of counter space for the ladies. Restaurant is tasty and Stanislaus is really friendly and fun!
Nicely renovated castle hotel from ruins. Nice room, helpful staff, excellent ala carte breakfast and dinner (delicious tartar steak) with perfect and witty service. Consider offering an individual tour of the hotel.
Beautiful rooms, hallways and Saunas. The breakfast was also yummy. Beautiful historical area with walking trails and nearby sites. With the weather we were just missing a treadmill and elliptical. Free parking on site. Definitely ask for a tour to see the chapel area of the castle. An amazing venue for a ball or wedding, and other events. The use of space is amazing.
The hotel is situated in old historical castle renovated just few years ago. It has few interesting features, nice decorations, and wall paintings, very nice two restaurant in the old knightly style. the wellness and the pool is in the underground, which is interesting, however it is quit small, without special place for kids. Food was also nice, buffets with various possibilities and tasty menu with specialties.
Hotel geared towards incentive trips organised by companies. The building itself is nice and it has some lovely historical details (the architecture is interesting), but the bedroom was bland (looked like a Premier Inn hotel room). On the positive it was quiet in the night and you could therefore sleep well. Nice swimming pool (with a swimming machine) about 10m long and a nice sauna. Average food at dinner, average service. The breakfast/dinner room could be nice (vaulted ceiling), but it is decorated in a gaudy style and has no windows (ie no sunlight). The hotel is difficult to find (SATNAVs don't know it and there are no directions on the road) - it is hidden away and even when you are close to it there are no signs on the hotel itself. Not worth the price and it is away from everything so that you have no choice but eat there at night (and the food is not great).…
