Rooms are big, only has fan in, no aircon, mosquito nets for all beds, food is good and its a lay back lodge, don't be in a hurry. During load shedding remind them to switch geyser on if power comes back on. There is a fridge in the room also. Located in quite area.
I stayed for a night at the lovely Thorntree Guest House in Kasama, Northern Zambia. A quaint house with lovely colonial features and homely decor. I was greeted by the smell of roasting coffee beans. I hadn’t made a reservation but I was warmly welcomed and took up residence at the cottage (very private and can easily accommodate 6 people). Basically you get your value for money. Amenities are basic but the premises are clean and safe. There’s no aircons but fans are available. Showers has good water pressure and warm water. The staff is super super friendly and all the meals are prepared from scratch - flavorful and warm (allow for enough preparation time, roughly 1.5hrs). The grounds are magnificent and the pets are equally cute and welcoming. Overall it was a relaxing stay and I got satisfactory service.…
The lodge is an old building that has been run for many years. The rooms are well equipped and good value, especially the large family room. The rooms do not have air-con but we stayed at the hottest time of year and it was not a problem as there were fans in the rooms. The meals are also very good, but they do take quite a while to be ready - order early. Service was a bit slow in general but the hotel has a good location, nice gardens and so it is easy to just enjoy the scenery while waiting. We would stay here again.
Thorn Tree Guest House and bicycle tours is amazing! Claire and crew are great hosts and take care of all the logistics. Everybody knows Claire, so any problems, issues, requests, etc. are resolved quickly.
Friendly hosts and feels like home away from home. Spent 3 nights and had a fabulous time around. The meals are delicious and the cook is friendly. Dont forget to buy the coffee, it's one of the best around.
