Detailed Reviews
We spent a few relaxing days in this resort with my family. We had two rooms. We had one of our dogs with us, which was not a problem at all. Hotel is located in the heart of nature. In front of the hotel there is a “tajch”, which looks like a lake, with green clean water. There is a small stony beach and a short stag, people were taking a cold bath. The hotel has enough of parking slots. Cuisine is very good, creative, tasty, but the prices are a bit exaggerated. there is a nice wellness, where you can find all you need to relax, swimming pool, massage etc. While we spent time there, there were outside reconstruction works, and that was to be heard in the rooms a bit. There is no air-conditioning. A fridge and safe are normally available in the room. rooms were nice and clean. Overall we had a pleasant relaxing time. Thank you.

+ Location is excellent in the middle of the Mountains, beautiful lake in front of Hotel.
Spa facilities on good shape.
Friendly and helpful employees.
- Room needs renovation - damages on the walls.
Restaurant area to be modified, complete Lay-out makes it not very Cosy more like canteen style rather than restaurant and Mountain View completely blocked. Also that was pity for such price range restaurant to get paper napkins and cheap cutlery.

This place is magnificent.I just went there for my second time and had 4 of the most peaceful days of my life! I had a one bedroom apartment which was spacious and perfect for my needs complete with a kitchen. The gym and spas facilities are first rate, and their restaurant is 1 of the better places I have ever dined at, with an innovative menu featuring all fresh products. The front desk people are extremely kind, bilingual and helpful.

This was our third visit in last 6years. We like atmosphere of Banska Stiavnica a lot and this hotel was our repeated option due to previous good experiences. Accomodation is perfect, rooms are nice and clean, but the quality of restaurant and bar declined. A la carte menu was significantly reduced, offering only few meals really. and also the service was not sufficient (really too long waiting times, also waiting for clean table be ready, etc.). The stuff is friendly and doing their best I believe, but some of them were obviously not experienced and generally, more of them would be needed. One explained that reduced menu is consequence of covid19 pandemic due to
which they are suffering from lack of qualified chefs and waiters… which is a shame. I do not think I would reconsider to come back.

We (me and family with 2 kids) stayed one night. The pool area with Jacuzzi is in good shape and kept nice and clean. If you are with family there is a nice kids play area. Rooms are spacious, bathroom in good shape. Beautiful surrounding with a great view. The receptionist was a nice guy. Greet us with a smile and helpful. The lady in charge of pool area and waitress in the restaurant also very friendly. Now the bad points. We booked on half board basis and was told there will be dinner buffet. The dinner ended a great disappointment. They didn't offer buffet as we were told the hotel is not occupied enough to offer buffet. We were given a menu card with 3 options for main course. The chicken snitzel was dried and the potato salad was too salty. The soup was ok, but surprisingly they served half of the soup bowl!!! We chose a piece of cake for dessert and it was super dry and I presume it was made month ago. Straight after dinner we had to go out to get something to eat as that dinner was TERRIBLE. As there are not many restaurants around, we managed to find a small pizza place 5km down the village. To be honest I wish, I booked breakfast only and go for pizza in the evening rather than wasting energy to have dinner in Slamandar. While we were in swimming pool the lady asked if we would like any drinks. We ordered 2 coffees. For a 4 star hotel, I expected some decent coffee. Instead we got terrible coffee which is from an instant coffee machine. Charging 2 euros per espresso is fine in a 4 star hotel, but not for instant coffee. The same at the breakfast, there was an instant coffee machine. Come on guys, can't you buy the cheapest bean to cup coffee machine? This was huge disappointment as I'm a huge coffee fan. The breakfast was quite ok, I wouldn't call it great breakfast as the hotel is a 4 star. I recommend the hotel but NOT FOOD. EAT SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE.

we came for fitness camp before new squash season starts. great food, nice and large room, perfect spa. small lake in front of the hotel was great relax after trainings in sunny weather. location is great for cycling and running. there is fitness room, which could we be little bit more equipped, but sufficient. service was friendly and they even made special light meals for us which we needed because of trainings. one advice, don't try to run up to the slope, it is really steep:)

We spent a long weekend in the hotel with my family. Already the booking was not that straightforward, the staff seemed to have problems with English communication (German didn't work either) which caused some problem when checking in. The language barrier remained, waiters in the restaurant also did not speak foreign languages but at least there was at least a menu in English. The language barrier seemed to make the staff kind of reserved towards us which surely did not help in creating the most pleasant atmosphere during our stay. Also, staff needs more training (if it is not obvious) that you don't shout from the other side of the restaurant to us to confirm our order. The breakfast was pretty poor for the category the hotel is pursuing. The quality of diner dishes was also quite unsteady, ranging from mediocre to high quality. In light of these the price/value ratio was surely unfavorable. To name the positive features: room was spacious and very clean. The kids playroom was excellent and well equipped. Location is stunning, there are a lot of sights and activities around. On the welcome card in the room they said 'Your satisfaction is our priority'. It would have been great to really experience this.

Hotel is very nice, our room was great too. Everything seems new. Food was great, plenty of choice. Kids club was great, especially thanks to the staff.
Comparing to other similar resorts, this pool area and spa was a dissapointment.

Salamandra is a true gem in the region. With large and well-kept rooms, amazing staff, well-attended wellness center and food out of this world, this hotel has everything. People wishing to explore this part of Slovakia should consider Salamandra as their top pick for staying.
I organized a large family gathering here, with over 30 hotel guests who stayed at least one night. My wife and I were among them. Despite organizing is all long distance, from Ireland, the communication with the staff was exemplary, and the hotel went above our expectations. From our experience and the experience of our other guests, I'm happy to report the following:
* Rooms: Quite large. We've had an apartment with a master bedroom and a secondary bedroom, a small sitting room and large bathroom. One of our guests reported that there was still plenty of space in a regular room with a double bed and two portable beds for their children. All rooms were very clean and well stocked.
* Service: From the reception to the bar and restaurant, the service was far beyond my expectations, considering my previous experience with hotels in Slovakia. The staff was always very friendly and quick to respond to our requests.
* Food: The hotel employs a celebrity chef who, from what I was told, often appears on Slovakian TV. The food was so good that it took me a month or so to get used to regular food in other hotels and restaurants. This is no exaggeration: even those family members who always complain about food were impressed.
* Location: This is the only sore spot of the hotel. The access road is very narrow, full of holes and very curvy. Meeting a car coming from the other direction can be problematic. This is especially troubling during winter season, as the hotel is right next to a ski slope with a lift, and many skiers come and go during the day. On the other hand, good drivers who can handle the road, will be rewarded with said ski slope in winter, a small lake with a private beach in summer, and several trailheads for hiking.
* Amenities: Even though I did not get to try the wellness center, other guests I quizzed were very satisfied with the indoor pools and massage services. The wi-fi provided for free by the hotel was very fast and reliable.
All in all, even though the hotel is slightly off the beaten path, it should be considered by everyone looking for a base while exploring the surrounding region.

We spent four days in this hotel and we had great time. Staff of this hotel was great and made our stay there briliant. We have two kids (3, 9 months) and hotel is really baby and kid friendly. All the facilities are well thought of and staff helped us with everything. Food was excellent and winelist also perfect. We booked Standard room as was recommended during booking and the room was spacious even for two adults and two kids.
We really had great time and we are definitely coming back to this hotel. This was ski trip, but we will try summer as well as the surroundings are very nice. Our older girl just loved it there due to the ski slope suitable for kids together with ski school. My only suggestion for the hotel is to improve wellness part (sauna). Pool is great.
