Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent three wonderful days at your property and couldn’t praise you high enough. We stayed in the Castle on night 1 and the lodges on night 2. The atmosphere, genuine friendliness of the team, the food and total ambience was first class. The wedding was amazing and the following two days were also a huge part of making the experience memorable. Many many thanks

Had an amazing stay with a wedding group at the castle. The hotel did an amazing job managing the whole event. Skye was a great server and Mick the bartender makes a GREAT dirty martini! :) We happened to run into him at the pub down the road later on and he gave us a true Irish experience!

Our stay at the castle was as perfect as they could make it. The grounds and castle are beautifully maintained. The staff was eager to help and provided great service and recommendations. Breakfast was great. The restaurant was amazing and the bar and hearth area were lively and fun. Great experience and worth every penny. Well done!

You will not find a more amazing experience than Kilkea Castle. We came as tourists and left as family. The service is as good as it gets. If you are looking for a relaxing few days in Ireland, say no more. Make sure to do the Falconer, is is worth every penny. Can't wait to go back.

Our stay was perfect from the very start! Christian helped us with our bags and parked our car for us, the front desk reception staff was lovely, and Andrew in the castle bar was fantastic. We scheduled a couples massage and they let you in to the spa 1 hour before your treatments to enjoy the sauna, steam room, hot tub, and ice bath. Our couples massage was perfect, and they made everything so relaxing and comfortable. The rooms in the carraige house were spacious, SO comfortable, and had everything including a fan. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and we got to choose from a pre fixed menu with plenty of options. The 12:00p check out was perfect after the spa. They really thought of everything!

This is a magical place, beautiful grounds and amazing interior that is both stunning, historical and comfortable. The staff really set it apart, everyone was wonderful, welcoming, helpful, and really enhanced our stay. The meals were all excellent, and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for and entertained 3 generations of our family (including 4 and 1 year olds, who felt like princesses). Only regret is that we didn't stay longer! We hope to be back again someday soon.

A beautiful Castle in amazing surroundings. So peaceful and the food was perfect. The staff were so friendly. I would so recomend to anyone if they visit Ireland to stay here. The Castle itself was exceptional, the views spectacular and we had a lovely walk before breakfast along the river.

I booked the lodges for a couples night away. The rooms are very basic and do not feel like a hotel or 4 star stay. We moved into three different rooms. The first room was flooded with white light, was the third room on the bottom floor of the lodge and I couldn’t feel relaxed in there. The second room was filthy, stains on the toilet, dirt in the corners of rooms, stains on the walls, hairs on the floor, dust on the phone and mirror (we were given a free lunch for this which was very nice of the receptionist, who was lovely to deal with) the final room had a cosier feel but the shower didn’t work which we only realised late in the evening and there was some hairs on the floor as we noticed with all the rooms. The cleaning standard is poor at the lodges. The dinner in the clubhouse and the lunch were nice. The breakfast in the club house was poor. Cold food, dry stale pancakes. The small plates out for guests to use were all dirty. The spa cost an extra 50 euro total for two of us to use which we knew before going but reflecting back is quite expensive when you are already staying in the hotel. In conclusion I would not book the lodges for a couples weekend away. The castle itself is a completely differently experience the lodges are very very basic.

We had a super 24 hour break in Kilkea Castle. We went for an in-house historical play which was excellent. We enjoyed dinner the steak was top quality. Loved the carriage room. Breakfast in the castle is special because of the setting. Then we treated ourselves to time in the spa that thermal suite is hard to leave. My therapist had me float out the door to meet my husband again. He drove the short journey back to Dublin. Thank you to all the great people who work in Kilkea.
