Spent 3 days here with Mary and Billy and I have to say this was the most welcoming family we've ever stayed with, from the moment we arrived until we left we felt like we were at home, this is the kind of house where you feel you are part of the family, The breakfast was delicious and the dinners absolutely scrumptious, Mary and her daughters went above and beyond expectations in every way, We chatted and laughed at the tables and told stories, we gained an insight to island life for the family growing up through the generations. Ocean view house is as good as it gets if your looking for a friendly family in the most amazing location. Inishturk itself has some fabulous beaches and walks with views that have to be seen with your own eyes to belive what your seeing. If your looking for a magical break on one of Irelands unspoilt islands with a wonderful family then this is the place for you... 5 stars and more We will definitely be back soon Dave.…
In July'19 I've spent 4 days on Inishturk Isl.Mary and Bill are excelent hosts, nice clean room and a real irish breakfast, good for my walking all day long. Superb seafood in the Caher View Restaurant with outstanding views to Caher Island and Croagh Patrick! Friendly native people everywhere! Come on and make your own experience, you will never regret !
Great week's stay in Mary's guesthouse. We were made extremely welcome and felt like family by the time we were leaving. You'll need a good day's walking around the island to walk off the generosity of the breakfast. Beautiful island, a real getaway and Mary's warmth and kindness made our stay all the more special.
I spent two nights in this fabulous B&B and it was one of the best travel experiences ever. Home cooking (breakfast and dinner)to die for We felt like the family had adopted us we were so much at home. Superb value for money - definitely going bak.
Spent a night in Mary Catherine's B and B last week. My friend was a little seasick from the crossing but with the tender loving care of Mary ,she was perfect after a good nights sleep and we had a great day walking around the island. Mary and her family are wonderful hosts. We had comfortable beds and a great breakfast. First class.
We were not disappointed! Spent the weekend on Inishturk and we were enchanted by both the warm, genuine hospitality of Mary and her family and the island itself (the weather helped!). Mary met us at the ferry (even though the B&B is only a quick walk away and she's recovering from knee surgery which makes getting in and out of the car uncomfortable) and we were met with a warm welcome of freshly baked scones and tea. Mary went out of her way to be helpful and friendly and we felt like we knew her and some of her family members well by the end of the stay. Our room was lovely with crisp bed linen (you don't get that everywhere), wooden floors and great views. Nothing was too much trouble with a refrain of 'it's all part of the service' heard on a number of occasions. Ocean View House is ideally located with stunning views. We walked this beautiful island both days and will definitely be back. I cannot recommend this B&B enough. Hospitality adds so much to the enjoyment of one's stay and Mary has it in abundance. Well done....…
I've stayed in Ocean View on several occasions and have always found Mary Catherine, and her family, to be exceptional hosts. Rooms are pleasantly decorated with comfortable beds and breakfast is superb. I highly recommend!
Stayed here last weekend. Mary is a lovely host. Friendly and helpful. Her family were totally welcoming to my partner and I. Had dinner on the Saturday and Sunday evening. Home cooked chicken and veg and fresh cod caught locally. I would highly recommend this B and B. It's very relaxing and easy going.
I visited Ocean View on August Bank holiday weekend with my pal for a short break. When we arrived on shore, we were greeted by Mary (the owners) lovely daughter who drove us and our bags a few metres up the hill to the house. We were greeted by the lovely Mary and treated to scones and tea on arrival. We had a lovely twin room with en suite and TV and the most stunning view of the island. Mary and her lovely family couldnt have done enough to spoil us. Breakfast and dinner each evening was outstanding and we felt we were at home at all times. There was plenty of choice each morning and evening. There was a gang of fisherman staying in the house also and they, like us, were treated like royalty. They told me that they have being coming for almost twenty years and come once a year and always stay with Mary. We walked the island a few times over the weekend and visited the local pub and had beautiful seafood chowder. I can't wait to come back and have already contacted Mary to arrange my next trip next August bank holiday weekend.…
We returned to Mary C and Bill's B&B after five years when we had to cut our trip to Islands short for medical reasons. We travelled with 3 very young kids and we were made feel most welcome at the property. Our kids had a great time playing with Mary's grandchildren around the house and also in the local community centre. We were made most welcome and felt very much at home. The room was spotless and comfortable and quite spacious for a room for four. Mary met us at the pier and transported our luggage to the house. We followed on foot - it is just a 300 metre walk. After settling in and recovering from a traumatic ferry crossing we were served the most delicious tea and scones which set us up for some Island exploration. Mary also cooked dinner in the local community centre kitchen - the Caher view bistro - we were served the best meals of our entire holiday. My wife is still raving about the deep fried brie! Five years ago I first tasted Mary's roast beef and trimmings dinner and I could not wait to try it again - the second time was even better than the first! We would have loved to have stayed longer! Great credit goes to the entire Island - it cannot be an easy life with challenges that we all take for granted but yet there is a peace, calmness, sincerity, genuineness about the people of Inishturk. I found it to be quite a grounding experience! We will return but we won't leave it 5 years!…
