The Seafield Hotel & Spa Resort offers spacious rooms and a prime location near the beach, which guests appreciate for its accessibility. The cleanliness of the hotel, especially the spa area, frequently receives commendations. However, some guests have experienced issues with soundproofing in rooms, disturbances due to noise, and a shift from a peaceful to a boisterous atmosphere. While the spa facilities are often lauded, challenges with booking and value for money are noted, particularly with unexpected charges for breakfast and room rates. Service quality appears inconsistent, with reports of both friendliness and disorganization.

From the minute we stepped inside this absolutely beautiful hotel we were made feel that they were delighted to see us and so pleased that we'd decided to spend time there, and from there, things only got better and better. From the reception to the restaurant, the bar and even the cleaners, we were made feel that we had been friends for a long time. It was sooooo nice !!!
If the hotel itself had been average and we would still have returned, but, no, the room was lovely, with a view of the sea, spotlessly clean and everything that was needed. The spa was, quite frankly, the best I've ever been in (and I have visited hotels all over the country with my work). It was beautifully lit, extremely tranquil and had absolutely everything from a pool, outdoor hot tub with jacuzzi jets, massage jets, ice room, bucket shower, steam rooms (2) and sauna. Changing rooms had shampoo, conditioner, hairdryers, body lotion, bags for wet swimsuits (and a spinner for drying them out first).
We ate in the bar and the food was delicious and

We had to cancel our large wedding due to restrictions and were trying to find somewhere new. We chose Seafield as it is where we got engaged (which they were also extremely helpful with.) We only had 3 weeks to pull the wedding together and Seafield far surpassed our expectations. Fran was brilliant with the planning. She was prompt with replying to emails and catered to all of our requests in friendly and professional manner which allowed us to get excited for the day. Fran and the Chef set out an excellent menu which catered for the coeliac/gluten free and vegetarians in our guests (everybody said how delicious the food was on the day). Seafield were accommodating with the rooms, giving a slightly early check in to those who really needed it and the bridal suite was stunning.

On the day all staff were really helpful, letting us help with the set up where we wanted to and also taking care of things that we didn't have time for. Patrick was brilliant in guiding us through proceedings on the day. He added lots of lovely tips on the ceremony and reception which added an extra significance to the day and really made it feel special even though it was only a small wedding. He is definitely the most knowledgeable man on the ins and outs of weddings we have ever met.

The two servers, Sophie and Caroline, were polite, friendly, and extremely professional. We requested that they wear facemasks due to some more vulnerable people in our wedding party and they did so without hesitation. They were charming to all of our guests throughout the night, as well as keeping the baby entertained at times. They are a credit to the hotel!

The facilities in the hotel were brilliant. The ceremony in the Daillin Suite was beautiful with lovely views, The library made for an intimate setting for a small wedding party and the Tara Suite for dinner was perfect for our meal and a bit of dancing after. The spa facilities are excellent and we also enjoyed a lovely sea swim at the beach the hotel has direct access to. The Wifi was also excellent which allowed us to livestream the ceremony to our family and friends who couldn't be there. On top of this, the whole wedding was very affordable for us which was important as well.

A huge thank you to Fran, Patrick, Sophie, Caroline and all the staff at Seafield for making the day so special and memorable for us and all of our guests. I would highly recommend Seafield for a wedding (and proposal). We wouldn't change a single thing about the day!

I stayed one night in December for my partner's birthday and overall was a very nice stay.

Restaurant:
Dinner was included in the package. Fine dining restaurant. If you like this type of food, it's delicious but some people came and left after seeing the menu. Not everyone's cup of tea. The bar also does more a more casual menu and there's a casual restaurant also attached. Service in the restaurant was excellent, the women in there are very good and friendly.

Bar:
The bar is lovely and we got some really nice cocktails. Big TV screens too for sports lovers. Really enjoyed our drinks here :-)

Spa:
Thermal suite and outdoor pool was lovely although very busy (indoor pool very quiet). Steam room wasn't open so that was disappointing. Bring flip flops - we weren't told this when we signed in and only found out when we were at the pool. We added them to our room bill there for €2.50 per pair; you can't wear your spa slippers that you get in the room. Outdoor pool is the main attraction and it's worth it. The only downside is that it's small and that's where everyone wants to be but i'm sure if you go at the right time, you could have it to yourselves. :-)

Room Service:
We didn't order food but I called the bar to ask for an ice bucket and was told that they don't do ice buckets (I've never come across this before). I was told they only do 'Ice Bags' and there was a charge of €6. I said I would come to the bar to collect it and was told it wouldn't matter, the charge was for the ice bag (really?!!!). So although i thought this was the strangest thing i'd ever heard, I had a bottle of Prosecco warning up and needed ice! So, I said that's fine, add it to the room bill. And then I was told no, they couldn't add it to the room, that i would have to pay by cash or card. (This was also weird as I had already added flip flops to the room bill earlier that day in the spa). I didn't have cash on me, so I gave up. Too much hassle and no customer service. Get some ice buckets; I'm sure i'm not the only one who's every called to request one. It's a standard request.

Honest review from well travelled guests:
Very good highlights are the spa and the beach walk, which, in themselves will bring returning customers.
The hotel is nice but in need of some TLC based on the first room we were taken to, which was small for a spa hotel and tired/grubby.
However the major let down was the organisation, efficiency and general attitude of the staff.
To summarise this point, on arrival to the hotel we checked in and were asked to sit in the lobby until our room was ready. It was available half an hour later but was not up to the standard expected due to the size and cleanliness. We immediately rang and asked for a room change of which we were advised it would be possible. The expectation was that it would be a fast room change as we were asked to stay in the room and wait for a call. One and half hours later of sitting in the unsuitable room (two hours in total from check in), and three further phone calls from ourselves we were taken to the new room, which was satisfactory. There were no apologies or excuses for this long wait just a number of different staff not dealing with the issue within a reasonable time.
We got room service on one of our three nights of which there was a large bone in the chicken on the pizza which my husband choked on. We were offered a refund on the pizza price however it was up to us to chase this down as we were advised the next day at reception they did not deal with restaurant issues.
On the final full day of our stay the room was still not cleaned by 4pm, therefore we had to request this from reception, again no apology or excuse. When it was eventually cleaned it was sub-standard and had obviously been done in a hurry due to the state of bed, unwashed cups, un-vacuumed floor and unclean towels left in the bathroom.
We could understand this if the staff appeared under pressure but anytime we saw the cleaning staff they were chatting to each other or in slow mode.
Overall this hotel has so much potential if there was better customer service and this does not mean more staff (as there were certainly a lot walking about), just staff who are competent at their jobs and complete them efficiently.
One last point ... we would have liked to have raised all these issues further with the property as opposed to online but when at reception we got no confidence there was any interest in our issues and did not want to waste our time waiting even further for no gain.

I had heard great things about Seafield Hotel & booked the dinner, bed & breakfast special for myself & four friends. We were very disappointed & did not enjoy our experience.

The spa area was too full; we were unable to enjoy the pool & jacuzzi as there were so many people there.

For a twin room with two occupants, only one shampoo, one shower gel & one shower cap were provided, which was not sufficient for two guests attending the spa & staying overnight.

Finally, as outlined to the manager, we were incredibly disappointed that one of our party had to leave the hotel after dinner & drive back home to Dublin as her room was uninhabitable due to a broken window. She notified reception of the broken window at approx. 4.30pm & had to follow up with them again when we returned from the spa at approx. 6.30pm. At this point, she was advised that the hotel was full & she could stay in an apartment on site. However, due to Storm Jorge blowing outside, and that she would be separated from the rest of our party, she did not choose this option. No alternative solutions were offered, such as setting up a camp bed in another of our party’s rooms or providing an apartment that two or more of us could share, such that she wasn’t by herself. She was then advised that she would have to check out there & then if she did not want to stay in the room, that she would not be charged for her room & that she would not have to pay for dinner. We appreciated this gesture. The manager further offered a reduced rate on her next stay, if she chose to stay again.

We understand that the hotel was full on the night in question; however, the lack of alternative options was dissatisfying. As the problem was identified early in the evening, it should have been possible for a solution to be reached, which meant that our party did not have to be separated.

Having read other reviews for Seafield Hotel on Trip Advisor, I can see that the hotel were aware of the broken window in room 102 for several months, prior to my friend staying in this room. We were assured by the manager, Brian, that this was the first instance of this problem being reported, which is clearly false based on the Trip Advisor review and further compounds the problem. If they had known this far in advance, then alternative arrangements should have been made for my friend, especially as we had booked our trip at least 6 weeks before our stay.

We will not be returning to Seafield Hotel.

Where do I begin!! My pregnant wife and I had heard good things about Seafield, so we decided to treat ourselves to a two night stay after organising granny to mind our toddler. Our Initial welcome was lovely but that changed as we were about to settle in our room. The headboard had the previous occupiers hair gel still on it, cigarette butts peppered our ‘balcony’ terrace, previous occupiers coke can perched from the artificial divider between like a defiant daffodil. I spoke with reception to express my concerns as we did receive a mail prior to arrival to ensure the protective measures Installed to ensure our safety and to maintain a high standard of cleanliness during this pandemic. I showed her the pictures also, and she assured me that it would be sorted immediately. We left to go for a stroll. When we returned it had been clear that the cleaners had returned. They completely missed the balcony again. I spoke again with the receptionist. The cleaner arrived with her manager and we were told that it was the wind that had put the coke can and cigarette butts on our balcony. When they were leaving the room they said in a snarky tone “Is that it?” As if we were in the wrong for mentioning it. This was not ideal as we were left feeling unwelcome here. The room itself it tiny compared to other hotels that offer similar amenities and there was a ceiling light and table blocking the balcony door. We had our meal in the greenroom restaurant which was only ok, this was included in our deal, but the pricing vs the quality is definitely not value for money. There is no temperature control in the room and it got very stuffy overnight (we could not open the door to balcony as it was not secure from the neighbouring rooms on the floor). I had three hours of sleep on the first night and my pregnant wife woke up in a pool of sweat on both nights. Which has left us feeling tired upon our return to our home. On our second day there was a power cut in the hotel, the entire hotel was plunged into darkness as there is seemingly no back up generator or emergency lighting in the corridors to ensure safe egress. I’d hazard a guess that this is not in compliance with the regulations. The fire vent in the stair core (lift was out of order from power cut) opened in the power cut and ensured that the 3rd floor stairs was saturated and slippery and was the only stairs we could use. Not ideal, but there was a staff member there with a mop which I suppose helps. My wife emailed the manager early in the morning on our last day as she was very upset as she could not sleep with the heat in the room. We have not received a response from the manager. They did offer a €50 refund on our stay and wanted to speak with us in person, but we refused as we just wanted to leave and we’re not there to try to get money back, all we wanted was a place to unwind and particularly during COVID-19 a place that was clean. This was not what we received and it is very disappointing. I hope this helps people when they are looking for a place to staycation as I know there are far better hotels out there for a similar price point.

I recently stayed for two nights with a friend for a two night pamper stay which we were really looking forward to, on arrival the lady at the reception desk was very friendly and let us check in straight away which I thought was a great start to our stay.

When we arrived to the room I thought the room was very average nothing special about it very dated as I heard a lot about the hotel before I arrived it was a bit of a disappointment, the room was quite dusty there was only two towels in the room and also no bath robe or slippers provided, to be honest it looked like the room was half cleaned and the cleaners forgot to come back and finish the room. I also spent extra for a balcony room but in order to access the balcony the door was a tonne weight and very stiff as we could barley open the door.

I rang reception asking for a bath robe and slippers to which I was told they would be brought to the room as we wanted to use the facilities - they arrived 4 hours later which I was annoyed as we could see the hotel was not that busy as we had checked in on a Sunday and it was then to late to use the facilities.

On the Monday I spoke to the manager on duty that day expressing my disappointment with the cleanliness of the room, no bath robe or slippers provided and only two towels provided he apologized and said he would get the cleaners to clean the room straight away. Again after the cleaners had been in the room there was still no difference no bin liners in the bin and also hairs in the shower and bath.

We then went back to the room and was locked out of the room for over 20mins as the access control lock on the door would not work and we had to wait for the maintenance man to arrive to change the locks. Eventually we made it to the spa which was lovely and the massage was fantastic.

The heating in the room was also not great as we found the room quite cold
The food was nice but overpriced - we also ordered room service which we were very happy with as we were not waiting long for it to arrive.

Checking out of the hotel I thought we might have been asked how our stay was to which I would of said the above but we were not asked so this is why I am now writing a review.

I was hoping to treat my sister to a pamper night in the hotel as she was unable to come the two nights we had booked, but after this experience I think I will research another hotel as it was a great disappointment as I had expected so much more.

Overall was not happy with my stay here. For the money we paid for our stay the service was very poor. There was no room service due to Covid and was told you needed to go to the bar for anything you required. Understandable given the circumstances but every time I went to the bar I was told "we cannot give that to you". The bar tried to sell me a bag of ice? Seriously!
For the large size of the hotel there is only one lift and because of Covid only one couple could use it at a time so you could end up waiting for the lift constantly during your stay. The spa had most facilities shut, you were only allowed 45 minutes and we were not told that you needed rubber flip flops on our visit to the spa which than ate in to our 45 minutes.
There are two restaurants in the hotel and only one restaurant had its servers wearing masks which made no sense at all and made us feel very uncomfortable to the point where we had to leave the restaurant mid service.
Breakfast had way too many people at one time and people were sitting too close to each other and the 2 meter distance was certainly not been followed which made us feel very uncomfortable and ended up in us having to request to be moved multiple occasions. Breakfast was not great. Servers got my order wrong on multiple occasions and it was just eggs on toast.
We asked reception what there was to do in the local area and their reply was "nothing" we had to figure it out for our selves. We also had to chase housekeeping to clean our room and on one occasion we had to do it ourselves and hand it to the cleaners. Note this was at 4pm in the afternoon.
One of the nights a couple in the room next door got into an hour long screaming match including banging the walls. We called down to reception but it was allowed to go on for an hour before someone one came up to deal with the situation.
The location and overall decor of the hotel is nice but the money they charge and service you receive is no way at the same level.
Don't think I will recommend or be returning. If someone from this hotel could get in contact to discuss I would be happy to.

I had my most disappointing hotel experience in Ireland to date at Seafield.

We suffered a multitude of bad experiences that overall caused us to have a very unsettling and unhappy visit.

We paid €270 for the room for the night, which is short of a disgrace for the level of service and quality received at the hotel.

Lunch in the bar and grill was poor and the drinks were severely overpriced. One of our group received their food late and subsequently ate alone when the rest of us had finished our meal.

When we checked into the room and tried to call concierge and in room dining, these calls went unanswered - on 3 separate occasions. It was impossible to get through to anyone from the room. They are also not operating room service.

Be aware that the pool booking is for 45mins and if you arrive down in the slippers and robe provided you are told you must purchase flip flips and a price of €2.50 or you are not allowed enter.

At dinner in the restaurant, we ordered 4 fillets of beef (again, grossly overpriced for the quality received) 2 were ordered to be cooked medium and were served pink and undercooked and therefore had to be sent back to the kitchen. Once again, this resulted in 2 of the party finishing their meal ahead of the other 2, which was extremely disappointing and ruined our meal. I also much be honest here, the food was unsatisfactory, which a wide range of unsatisfactory tastes.. I was expecting a much higher level quality of food than what we received.

We then retired to our room to have a couple of drinks on the balcony and receive a noise complaint. The night porter is extremely rude and I have never been spoken to in such a manner as a guest of a hotel. Without a shadow of a doubt, the worst encounter I have had in a hotel.

We decided to check out and leave early this morning.

It was a terrible decision to choose Seafield Hotel for our night away, especially having spent almost €1k for one night with lunch and dinner between 2 couples. An alternative 5 star would have been much better.
Definitely do not recommend.

Yesterday my mother, aunt, sister and I visited the spa in Seafield for the day, we booked lunch in advance for 1 o’clock. We were 15 minutes late for our reservation by the time we had showered and gotten changed after the spa. The lady at reception informed us that there was a reservation at 2 o’clock, we would only have 45 minutes now. That was fine.

We decided to order 2 Brie sandwiches and 2 ham sandwiches, specifically requesting that there be no mustard on one of the ham sandwiches, with 3 sides of sweet potato fries and 1 side of the tender stem broccoli. We placed our order about 1:25.

At 1:50, 3 of the sandwiches arrived. Both ham sandwiches had mustard on them so it had to go back to the kitchen. The waiter informed us that the chef had made a mistake on the fourth sandwich and made a ham sandwich instead of a Brie one and was now making a Brie sandwich.

Only two of the sides arrive with the two sandwiches (discounting the ham sandwich that incorrectly had the mustard on it).

We wait and waited for the remaining two sandwiches. When they finally arrived the Brie sandwich was inedible. The Brie on the sandwich was not melted whatsoever, unlike the other Brie sandwich my mother ordered. It was unappetising and inedible. The chips (pictured) were cold. In fact, cold food was a running theme in all our sides as well. My tenderstem broccoli was also like warm.

I had to remind our waiter of the final side of sweet potato fries we never received which was delivered hot but was just another error compounding a utterly disappointing and unenjoyable lunch.

It was half two by the time we left, and that was not a result of lounging over our food but rather due to the incredible delay and drib drab way our food was served.

The sandwiches were €15 each, and the sides were €4.50. A rip off given how underwhelming the actual sandwiches were. The spa cafe area felt completely forgotten and has no atmosphere.

The staff were all very accommodating and apologetic and did not charge us for the Brie sandwich and two sides. However that could not make up for the poor service and cold food we received. We will not be dining there again.
