W Maldives went above and beyond our expectations, from the amenities offered at the resort to the amazing staff who welcomed and befriended my husband and me. The resort was beautiful. Everywhere you look is a picturesque view that I could not get used to; from the clear turquoise water, white sand and gently swaying coconut trees to the beautiful water bungalows and beach front villas. However, what truly made this vacation a dream was the staff at the resort that befriended us. Special thank you to Bakaa, who introduced us to delicious Maldivian cuisine that was off menu; Shanin who always had our back with the restaurant reservations and getting us the best spot in the restaurant; Shareef who consistently checked up on us to make sure our place was suitable; Mark who always took the time to chat with us and gave us pointers on our fitness goals; Jessica who always greeted us for breakfast and made sure Tony got all the mimosas he wanted for brunch...lol!; Silva who always got us at the bar and made his first spicy margarita using Maldivian chilli; Karen who helped us in the gift shop and always was so friendly and last but not the least, Idu, best GM, who hyped up the pool party and got the guests mingling. Thank you W for the wonderful time off Tony and I could ask for! It’s hard to adjust back to reality after staying with you all!

Have been lucky enough to go to the Maldives a few times, but this was perhaps the best hotel, we have stayed in as yet. W stands out firstly due to its friendly service, each and every staff member, right from the hostess at the airport receiving us, to the superb GM Idu, top marks to them fanatstic restaurants, bars, spa, rooms. we stayed for 8 days, frist few on the beach, which were super and then moved to the over water villas. they were outstanding....W stands for Whatever , Whenever. This was so true, whatever we asked was responded to in 15 mins. Well done W team, we will back soon

Great location, amazing villas, special staff that takes care of every little detail. Tried the beach villa and the lagoon villa as well, both are great. We preferred the lagoon villa for it’s unique views and the hammock (my fav part of the villa)

We travelled to the Maldives for our Honeymoon, after having a small lockdown Wedding. We thought the W hotel would live up to the name, however it “DIDN’T feel like a W experience. Unless your paying yourself, the hotel doesn’t offer any complimentary boat tours, fishing cruises like most other resorts offer in the Maldives. Should I have known that prior I would never have booked to stay here. Its almost £400 a person not for getting the extremly high taxes they charge of everything (24%). Biggest let down, based on my stars i gave, was the rushed Welcome experience off the seaplane, having just landed at the Island, overwhelmed beauty, trying to take pictures by the sea plane and the jetty we were told “C’mon hurry up, let us introduce you to the team, save the pictures for later” I was shocked thats not what I wanted to hear. The welcome drink on arrival was very standard, other resorts off a much better selection. Another big let down by the W hotel, was the professional pictures we took, ofcourse we had asked the team if they can accommodate a late booking and have the pictures developed? They told us 1hr is more than enough time. Since we had a late sea plane out we had plenty of time in hand which wasn’t a worry. But..... guess what, from all the pictures the team loaded on the usb only a few pictures where to be found (approx 15-20) most which were repeated pictures. This was heart breaking to find out once we arrived back from our Honeymoon after 5weeks. When I contacted the hotel i was told, our photos had been deleted from their hard drive after 1month. It had our Honeymoon memories washed away let alone having a wedding we didnt expect. The hotel responded “we offered you a great deal for the photoshoot” however whats the use if most of the pictures where missing. The hotel has offered us complimentary photoshoot for a future visit. I dont think they understand how much we spent to stay at the W Maldives in the first place. Many people save up for a honeymoon for a once in a lifetime experience I think its only fair the W Hotel Maldives gives a few complimentary nights after the experience we have had. From a disappointing couple in the UK.

Booked the Extreme WOW Presidential suite for 6 nights. We have been travelling to various luxury resorts in Maldives since 2014 . This was our 3 rd trip to the Maldives alone in the last 8 months .Can’t help but compare the service level with Waldorf Astoria ,Maldives which was our best holiday thus far. I’m gonna put down a list of Pros and cons for a better idea. Pros : 1. House keeping was top notch and attended to every detail in our suite . 2. A big shout out to Vasantha (Sous chef) at the ‘Kitchen’ restaurant who went out of the way to make us comfortable every single day & whipped up some delicious stir fried pork & beef ! Ishara at wet bar for his absolutely delicious espresso martini ! Raj and Mark from the fitness center for being awesome & very accommodating. 3. Breathtaking views from the extreme wow ocean suite. 4. Amazing Privacy as our suite was tucked away in a corner of the resort . Cons : 1. No Man Friday / Mr Friday at this resort even for a Presidential suite ( Extreme wow ocean haven ) which is extremely surprising ! 2. No cycles in this resort . This is the first time we’ve encountered this, since absolutely all resorts we’ve been to have cycles which made our stay all the more exciting as I am an outdoorsy person. I failed to check this prior to our visit as this was a rushed booking & this was the only resort which had a 2 room suite available. 3. Overcharged on couple of occasions. One time was at this Fire restaurant where the main course ( 3 portions of rib eye ) was served as an appetizer for 1/4 the price & on another occasion the same dish was served as a main course for $200 each steak ! Never order off the menu dishes as they price them at whatever suits them! 4. Due to the horrible weather conditions , we couldn’t do any water sports for a few days until the day before our departure when the skies were partially clear, we were given a go ahead to seabob . We knew the rain forecast was at around 12 :30 pm for that day but was informed that the instructor was only available at 11:30 am . Barely 5 minutes into the sea & struggling to get a hang of the seabob , we were asked to get out of the water as the waves & winds grew stronger. We were charged for 15 minutes of sea bobbing when infact it was only 5 minutes ! When this was brought to their notice , we were told it’s a third party & there’s nothing they can do ! This sure did leave an absolute bad taste . 5. The infinity pool lights at the extreme wow ocean escape was faulty & was not working during our entire stay . As a result , we ended up hurting ourselves with multiple scratches and bruises from the hard cemented surfaces inside the pool . Use of tiles inside the plunge pool would’ve prevented this mishap. 6. Missing Pergola on the outer deck lounge which I believe wasn’t fixed since their last rains. The sunbed which was blown away by the winds was not replaced either. 7. The general manager made an appearance on day 1 and day 6 . Day 1 was a great welcome & orientation from the general manager & his team . On Day 6 , we were approached once again while having lunch & was told he would be arranging a special night for us as we were leaving the following day . To our surprise they was no special arrangements being made but infact slapped with a ridiculous bill at the Fire restaurant which left us in bad taste indeed! 8. The 2 hour private yatch ride was more like pulling a death defying stunt as we were sitting on pins and needles with our stomachs churning during our entire journey! Absolutely no communication or reassurance from the crew . Not doing it again ! 9. Overall, the lounges at this resort are mediocre and do not match up to their pricing. Also the fact that they have a few dining options & it’s below average ambience do make it less appealing for a second visit !
