The staff, from skippers to servers, really know how to treat their guests with the utmost respect. Every question and request was treated with absolute priority. The activities were outstanding. Highly recommend the 3point snorkelling trip. An experience that you will never forget. Parasailing over the island will offer a perspective of both marine life and the island in its entirety! Nicole our island host, made our experience seamless from orientating us to arranging a doctor! The dining room staff deserve a mention, Imraan proudly serving fresh fruit at every meal! Suraj and Babul new our drinks order before we placed them! Slightly disappointing, of 9 island bicycles, 1 was in working order and as an avid windsurfer I was so excited to see the boards available however bitterly disappointed to find that only 1 sail was available as all others/masts had been broken and not replaced so unfortunately just didn’t work.…
Absolutely wonderful place! Resort very tastefully done and kept in immaculate state. Exactly what you expect from a Maldives dream vacation. However which made it even more special for us was the staff, they went out of their way from the first moment to make us feel special. Level of personal attention, genuine kindness and professionalism from especially Shaun, Abdulla and Duminda is absolutely unmatched! Mr. Najah, Mr Rettey, Boku and Mr. Mohamed Ali; you have trained your staff extremely well, they exceeded any expected service level and made our vacation even more special! Please take good care of them.
On holiday with my family in Maldives, we booked a massage at the Ocean Spa, Sun Siyum Olhuveli, Maldives. The therapists were Thulasi and Kayan. My wife and I were treated like royals. We typically book massages wherever we travel across the world, and I must say that this was the best ever. We highly recommend the spa and the therapists.
Best hotel ever, a piece of heaven, 8 days of day dreamings. I advice everyone to go there without thinking. A place where you can find the best friendly and helpful staff, food and services. A resort full of activities that are not expensive. I regretted that I booked only 7 nights, I don’t want to be back home now 😭. I promise to come back as soon as I can. Special thanks to Safraz Mohamed, chef Mohamed mueen and Sunny (from Malaafaiy restaurant) to provide gluten free meals for my wife everyday. I don’t want also to forget the guys who are in the fruit and ice cream bar. And all the staff there in sun siyam olhuveli who are working behind the scene. They make your dreams come true. ❤️❤️❤️
Well organized and amazing resort. Sure’d like to come back pretty soon. The room is amazing. The pool excellent. The restaurant was top notch. I had a good time with my wife. One of the best week of our lives.

My family and I have recently returned from Olhuveli having had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Nicole was a great help and really made our stay extra special, as well as the fab restaurant staff - Arif, Suraj and Prodip you were great! We saw some amazing sights and swam in the most beautiful seas! Even managed to swim with a big group of nurse sharks on the 3-point snorkel! Also did 2 scuba dives with the wonderful Sara and Eman which were truly breath-taking! Such a lovely holiday that we will treasure forever <3
After the long journey to get to Male we where greeted by the sun siyam transfer team who where very welcoming and efficient ,that was the last time we touched our bags until we got into our accommodation, after our 45 minute speedboat transfer which had s feeling of James Bond about it ,we where greeted at the resort by a welcoming party of a drummer and line of staff who donned us with a garland , we where allocated a personal concierge who walked us from the boat to the reception area where all our paperwork was taken care of so all good there, we where allocated a deluxe room no 205 the room was comfortable cool from the heat clean and fresh and had everything we needed for our stay, our room boy YASHIM was so nice and courteous a credit to the resort keeping our room spotless and clean he also provided us with a few surprises with his bed art , just in front of our room we where provided with sun lounges and fixed sun shelter on what felt like our own personal beach which was stunning Thank you YASHIM. The restaurants where literally 200yds away when you entered the restaurant you where always greeted with a smile and a courtesy welcome the views out of the restaurant where absolutely stunning facing out to the dive centre of white sand and turquoise water the food was excellent, a buffet style arrangement was used which can only be described as an Asian influence with plenty of curries and spiced food but with what I would describe as close to English food as you could get with an abundance of meats fish vegetables salads and pastas amongst other foods, fresh fruit was supplied via its own chef EMRAN who sliced and diced to your hearts content .the restaurant was set out into four large rooms where you could sit in any of them , we where served by our excellent waiters SURAJ BASUL and ABDULLAH who could not do anything more for you ,attending to your every need again excellent. Extra special meals could be booked for a charge at the Thai or fish restaurants through the lovely head of house SEAN who always had time to chat and ask if everything was going well Entertainment in the main bar was served by a DJ who was on every night between 9pm and 12pm some local entertainment was also provided with a drum and dance band which really made you feel that you where on a tropical island excellent.Day activities where mainly centred around water sports with plenty of snorkelling and kayak hire available or for paying activities there was the dive centre where yo could go snorkelling do sub aqua or go on the boat safaris. The beaches around the island where absolutely stunning beautiful white coral sand and the bluest turquoise water I have ever seen with an infinity swimming pool (Adults only)on one beach and several other pools which accommodated children.there where plenty of sun lounges available plus swings and hammocks in the water,The waters around the island where brimming full of marine life we seen black tip sharks sting rays rainbow fish and the manta rays on the dive centre dock at night, the views on the island of the beaches and water where a photographers dream to get your tropical shots.on the very minor downside there is no shop on the island where you could purchase a snack like sweets chocolate or bottled ,canned drinks it is all geared to use the bars and restaurants so if you require this bring your own This is not a rowdy beer fuelled elvis and blues brother act holiday so wouldn’t suit everybody but what it is a dreamy tropical island to chill relax and recharge those batteries other than that it was an outstanding holiday worth every minute of travel to meet the most friendly and welcoming staff for your own personal piece of paradise....Excellent !…
First off, I want to give special thanks to Malaafaiy Restaurant staff member Muzam, shuttle/buggy driver Sankar Jhon, and overwater bungalow room attendant Rashan Madhushanka for consistently outstanding 5-star service to our family throughout our 10-day holiday at Sun Siyam Olhuveli! We also wanted to give extra thanks to the following for helping make our stay extra special: Malaafaiy Restaurant staff (hostess Jasmine, cooks/servers Komang, Noval, Usman, Imrun, Saadhin, Nabah, Parwez Khan, Heron, and chef Mueen for leading excellent staff, quality cuisine, and very nice presentation with every meal); Sunrise Bar bartender Paolo for the best drinks and service at the resort; shuttle/buggy driver Faqrul & Jaal (likely misspelled); and of course our personal resort host Shamir. On to the review! Bottom line upfront- we had an overall very happily memorable stay in paradise at Sun Siyam Ovuheli, and I recommend it knowing well upfront that it is marketed as and you are indeed going to a 4-star resort. We’d like to return to this resort someday, but with the 37+ hour travel time between the Maldives from Southern California (and general unsettling behavior of a considerable segment of their guest demographic) we would likely try the southern Maldives the next time we find our way back to the island country paradise. Because our young family of 4 was there to celebrate our 15-year wedding anniversary and our youngest son’s birthday I had very high expectations and for the first couple of days was unfairly comparing Sun Siyam Olhuveli to 5-star and luxury resorts that we’ve stayed at around the world. Finally accepting that this is actually a strong 4-star resort, we had a great stay! We selected Sun Siyam Olhuveli for a variety of reasons, but the final points were price for an overwater bungalow in the Maldives that had a kids club / childcare option. Some key points: -White sand pristine beaches, crystal clear waters, and abundant wildlife (safe) at the resort was epic! -As a whole, the staff here are awesome. -Sun Siyam Olhuveli is a fairly large resort consisting of 3 islands (the 3rd still has bungalows under construction and is not yet open). There’s a lot to see and do (water activities, tennis courts, good gym, great beaches, excursions, rentals, etc), but there are only two shuttles/buggies that make the loop. Sometimes you’ll end up waiting 10-15+ minutes for a full cart, so we ended up usually walking (up to 1 mile or so from end to end). -You will only have one buffet dining option with the meal plan. There are two restaurants and which one you get to go to depends on the location of your room. We were assigned to Malaafaiy Restaurant, which was excellent with a large variety of options and themes per meal/day. There are 3 other sit-down restaurant dining options that cost extra, but it gives for a much better full-service private feel at added price. -Spa is wonderful! We had some of the best massages at the Ocean Spa (my wife wanted to highlight Abhi). Of note, their specials may sometimes be better than using your all-inclusive $50/person credit. -Kids club provided basic childcare, but it kept the kids (ages 8 & 10) occupied for 1-2 hours. Hours were generally 09:00 to 16:00-18:00, depending on the day. We didn’t realize until we got there that they close daily from 12:00-14:00 for lunch. There was also a surprise early closure for the day. Keep this in mind if booking a parent massage, nice lunch, quiet time, etc. Items I wished I knew beforehand: -Trying to receive an e-mail / WhatsApp / social media DM / internet call response from the resort before arrival is very poor. I didn’t reach out very often, but I estimate their pre-arrival reply rate (if they even reply at all) is less than 40%. We didn’t feel like our reservation was confirmed until we actually checked in to the Sun Siyam resort booth at the Maldives airport (we were thinking of a contingency plan). Also, unfortunately there is not as much detailed information as one would expect on their website either. -If it was just the wife and I, then we could’ve gone for the half board package (breakfast and lunch), but we selected full board because of our kids. -You can upgrade to the “Diamond All Inclusive” plan for $96/adult while you are there, but they will only allow it to end on your last/check-out day (you can’t add it on temporarily in the middle of your stay). Alcoholic drinks range $8-$12 and on the all-inclusive plan we’d never heard of the well liquors or wine brands that are included. -The majority of guests were Indian (1-hour flight from India) followed by Russian and then some European. Not too many apparently from the US and other parts of Asia. My wife and I have traveled the world extensively (40+ countries), but we have never been to India or have regularly encountered native Indians en masse. Coming from a western country (USA) and having been to different Asian countries 10+ times, but not India it was a huge daily culture shock for us on many levels especially during the buffet dining times, and also if we were doing an activity together like playing pool, traveling the resort, etc. Unfortunately, after a couple of days all four of us felt like we always had to be very attentive, on guard, and not completely at ease during these times every day (just search “Indian tourist behavior” so you’ll be able to mentally prepare). As a result we ended up spending most of our time in our overwater bungalow or secluded beach/lagoon (which was still great), and recommend in-room dining or one of the sit down restaurants if it’s in your budget. Overall, we had a pleasant experience at Sun Siyam Olhuveli. We met graciously wonderful staff from all over (especially Bangladesh, Bali, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Samatra) and we wish them all the very best!…
