We stayed at Klitgaarden for three nights. This was our third visit to this beautiful, unspoiled corner of northern Jutland. We were delighted (and much relieved) to find that everything continues at the same high standard we experienced during our last visit in 2014. Skallerup Klit seems timeless: a quiet, picturesque and unique landscape, in the heart of nature, while on the Klitgaarden farm Svend and Karen are as welcoming and hard-working as ever. The accommodation is just as delightful, spotless and well-maintained, and Karen's breakfasts are just as generous and delicious. Ironically, this peaceful haven is quite a crossroads - staying at Klitgaared while we were there were families from Sweden and Italy: it's a friendly and interesting place. During this short stay we visited Skagen, Lonstrup and Lokken - towns which are full of character and art. These were easy journeys - the position at Klitgaarden really is ideal for anyone who wants to explore this fascinating area, and with luck acquire some splendid contemporary ceramics, blown glass or paintings.

Klitgården is a great place to spend your free time while the kids attend Dana cup. Quiet atmosphere in a rural setting near the beach. The hosts are outstanding. We have been here twice a d will love to be back.

We were four adults and two children (7 and 2) and we all enjoyed very much the place: the apartment, football outdoors, table tennis and football indoors, cute small animals and horses and the most amazing sweet couple as hosts. Karen and Svend did everything to make us comfortable like placing a Brazilian flag at our door, bringing fresh grapes from their garden many times during the day and preparing a delicious homemade breakfast on Sunday morning. For sure we'll return 😊

This was our first stay with Karen and Svend at Klitgaarden, but we hope it is not the last one. Personal, warm and friendly service, nice rooms and great food. When we left we felt that we had visited good friends.

I recently stayed at Klitgaarden with my husband, my toddler and my parents-in-law and we were all very impressed with Klitgaarden and the surrounding area. Karen and Svend are wonderful hosts, putting on a fantastic spread each morning for breakfast. It was a perfect set-up for us with a busy toddler who likes to get into everything. We could wander outside and show him the various animals around the farm ( such as cats, goats, rabbits & horses) as well as the numerous toys and swings on hand & horse riding. There was also a very impressive farm up the road which we walked through and thought would be another fantastic place to go with kids. There was also an aquarium and kids resort ( the latter a short walk away) where you could go for lunch & a swim. There's also plenty for the adults to do-nothing if you so wish, but long walks on the beach, Emil's woodshop, an amber store ( Ravgarden) quaint villages, cafes, a monastry, etc. This isn't a prescriptive list of things to do, but it all came as a really pleasant surprise as the reason why we decided to come to the area was due to the very positive reviews that we had read about Klitgaarden & it certainly did not disappoint. It's obviously a place that people come back to as we met people staying here who had been here several times before. It's that kind of place.
