Stayed at Mt Fuji Hostel Michael for 3 nights before climbing up Fujisan. The location is pretty convenient and close to Fujisan station which you could go by bus from Shinjuku or by train. Clean and tidy hostel, we had party of 13 and we occupied their biggest dormitory of 10 persons with bunk beds. They have Japanese style tatami....

In terms of location, comfort, and overall quality this is a pretty decent place to stay. The dorms are clean and have curtains so you can have some privacy and the receptionists speak excellent English. The place also has a great view of Mt. Fuji if you're lucky and have a clear day. The only 'problem' with this hotel is...

Okay, good points: good price, nice Mt Fuji view from the balcony, clean, good location, friendly staff, plenty of tourist information about the area, free coffee and tea. Bad points: the bunk bed room is too small, a bit inconvenient; no kitchen, but they have some appliances like toaster, water boiler, microwave oven; bicycle rental is very expensive; the room...

So if you're looking for a great place around Fuji, this is it. It's not close to the lakes, it's more in the center of Fujiyoshida, but I wouldn't see that as a problem as transport in the area is great (and you can rent a bike, the hostel offers rentals). It's close to a train station (Gekkoji) and walking...

This hostel, a five minute walk from Gekkoji station, is cramped. We stayed in a private room (western style) and there was not enough room to swing a cat. We have been travelling for 5 months and have stayed in a whole range of weird and wonderful places but nowhere as claustrophobic as this hostel. However, the tatami room looked...

I enjoyed staying here the rooms were small but clean with windows which could be opened to enjoy fresh air. Located between two railway stationsit is an eady walk with luggage. The communal area is small but has a view of Mt Fuji. There are 2 bathrooms a washing machine, dryer and Internet. There is a bar and cafe downstairs...

We stayed there during a roundtrip in Japan and I did visit Mt. Fuji. The hostel is easy to find and access from the Gekkoji station. It has restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It is a good base to explore the Mt. Fuji. The hostel itself is in a good shape, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a 8 bed...

We stayed here two nights while visiting Fuji. We got a room with tatami mats and slept on the futons. This is a great little hostel. It's clean and well presented. Toilets are good as are the showers. Staff are friendly and the free coffee is definitely appreciated. Only about 10 minutes walk from the station and similarly to town...

Our stay at Michael's was great. It's situated very close to Gekkoji station (about 5 minutes), and even closer to a 7eleven and a bigger supermarket. Very convenient! The guesthouse itself has a nice vibe. We stayed in a 2 person tatami room, which had a fridge, airconditioning, beds and a small table to eat at. Supercozy! The walls are...

The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. They did point out some key places, like a delicious ramen shop and where to obtain bus passes to Mt. Fuji. The hostel had all the basic amenities that you would expect. It is a small cozy hostel and I think it may seem this way because there was no common area,...
