I got the room with mountain view. The view was beautiful. Room was very clean, decoration was good, bed was comfortable. I particularly like the tea. The breakfast was ok. The room was pricy, but I am grateful to spend the night at this peaceful and comfortable place on top of the maintain. I was luck to to be able to see both sunset, sunrise and the cloud.
First off, be aware that the Golden Summit Hotel and the Jinding Hotel are sister hotels, both atop Mount Emei in the scenic area, but from the looks of the lobbies, very different hotels. I booked my room through Ctrip, and my booking stated that I was staying at the Jinding Hotel, but on arriving there I was informed that my actual reservation was at the Golden Summit, so if booking online I would suggest verifying which hotel your room is actually in. Also, if you haven't figured this out already this hotel is on top of a mountain, it is not easy to get to, and requires a mixture of walking, buses and cable cars, or if you're fit and have a few days spare, a really long walk. This hotel gets away with its prices because of it's location, and luckily for me I had some good luck with the weather meaning that I'm happy to have paid what I did to stay there. However, there was no hot water in the shower, with the summit being 3077m it's chilly up there, so a bit of warmth to the water would have been nice. That's not to say that if I'd brought it up with management the issue couldn't have been fixed, but having just walked 30km up stairs I was not prepared for the language barrier. There was also a random wet patch in the middle of the floor and I think that there was something living in the bedhead as I could hear it moving, luckily I was by myself and there was a second bed so I was able to move.…
First from downtown Emeishan there is the 2.5 hour death defying bus ride up the mountain for 210 yuan (cash only) which is about $20 - note at some point you have to get off the bus you are on and buy a ticket to get back on that same bus to continue. Also for everything mentioned on the way up, you will need to make same purchases for the way down. Then you have to walk 1.5 meters up stairs which are slippery and bandit monkeys lurk about to steal your soda or whatever food you have. There are locals also selling trinkets and food. After that you take the cable car for 65 yuan up the mountain. Note the last cable car leaves at 5:00pm we got there at 4:57pm so it would have been nice to know this ahead of time. There are a few more steps to get to the hotel after that but if you made it this far no big In all honesty I was already sick when we started this part of our journey so by the time we reached the hotel I was ready to pass out in the lobby. I did scream a bit when they told us we were on the third floor and there was no lift but I guess they figured anyone who can make it that far can deal with a few more steps The panoramic room is not panoramic but had a huge window with a great view. Don't know about the heated floors (it was summer) but the bathtub was great with plenty of hot water for those sore muscles after your workout. From the hotel it's still a 15 minute walk up stairs to get to the summit according to my husband (I was passed out in bed) Overall, nice hotel. Maybe a bit more expensive but when you see all the porters and workers around the grounds carrying everything from towels and sheets or bricks and cement on their backs it is hard to complain. I think that if I had felt better it would have been one of the highlights of the trip. Just be sure to take plenty of yuan for the bus and cable car as they do not take anything else!…
This hotel is on the Golden Summit. First thing you need to know is you should bring only carry-on luggage. You need to climb 300 meter of steps from the bus terminal to the tram terminal. The windows of the hotel face west. You can only see sunset but not sunrise. Be sure to book for windows facing out. Otherwise windows face inside the building. Rooms are not big but comfortable. Restaurant is in another building across. Very simple rice porridge breakfast. Dinner dishes are typical Sichuan cuisine and acceptable. Having such a hotel at 3000m is still quite remarkable
The worst check-in experience. We booked queen room with panoramic view on Ctrip. The guy on reception refused to give us the key unless we would settle for a single room. He made us wait while he was checking in 20 other people who came after us, when finally we started yelling at him, because we didn't want to miss the sunset. He told us once again, that if we dont want to take single room, we have to wait. I'm sure its some king of scam, when they are trying to get more money from you, since the walk-in rates are much higher. I had to scream at him and finally he gave us keys to our room. The room was great. View was incredible and floors were heated (very helpful during cold months). The room was worth fighting for!
