My husband chose this restaurant as we quite literally haven't been for over 20 years. A traditional old pub log fires and cosy. Instead of eating in the bar we went upstairs to the restaurant big mistake especially if you have limited mobility steep stairs and the hand rail didn't go all the way up!!!!! Warmly welcomed bit disappointed there...

I stayed the night at the Hollybush as we have friends who live in Machen. The website says rooms from £40 but as it was the 6 nations weekend the price had been jacked up to £140 for a family room. The website says 'luxury b&b', premier inn style accommodation, furnished to an excellent standard. When we arrived the landlady...

Visited today with a friend. A beautiful setting and the pub has a roaring log fire. I had chicken curry and my friend had a steak. We shared a bowl of onion rings which are probably the best onion rings we have tasted. Both meals were lovely. The staff are friendly and efficient. We can't wait to come back again.

Had heard really good reviews on this place ! Sadly we were so disappointed ! I booked for my dad's 87th birthday .The table was booked upstairs for 7 pm. Bit concerned that there were no other diners there on a Friday night ? But we had a lovely table and the girls serving were lovely ! But alas that's...

A good selection of meals available considering it is Sunday lunch - orders are taken at the table so no going up to the bar for food and drinks - all are brought to the table. We always sit upstairs as it is much roomier and quite an attractive location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We visit here...

Lovely location and lovely Sunday lunch. Downstairs is nicer than upstairs. Staff were friendly to us This pub would be lovely if they replaced the dated carpet with perhaps wooden floor and the walls were freshened up with some paint.

I stayed here for three nights this past week whilst on business between Pontypool and Cardiff. I had 'The Snug' add it's far from that... spacious, warm and if I'd had a physical disability it would have been more than supportive with the height of bed and wet room shower. Although there's not a catered breakfast the cereals and milk...

We required a place to stay following visiting Cardiff and we didn't want the corporate chain hotel experience, and we were not disappointed. The welcome at the Hollybush was extremely warm and pleasant. The accommodation is literally 30-40 yards away from the restaurant, in an old cottage, and the room we were allocated was spacious and comfortable. The food we...
