Detailed Reviews
We stumbled on this beautiful hotel when looking for a place to stay before our wooden raft experience on the Dunajec River. The room was great, the included breakfast was delicious with lots of choices, and the service was outstanding. Oh, and the price was much less than we expected it to be.

From the point on the Dunajec river where the tourist boats land, there’s a short walk or horse and cart ride to this chata. Conveniently situated near the chata is the building where you can buy photographs taken of your group on the river for 4 euros each. Guests sit under cover outside at wooden tables where a set meal is served and musicians play “Goral” music to add to the atmosphere. We enjoyed the sheep’s cheese gnocchi starter and our smoked brown trout main course but the accompanying potato wedges were overdone and very hard. Souvenir stalls hope for your custom as you walk back to your vehicle in the car park.

Had a brief stop here after walking the Droga Pieninskie from Szczawnica. Location and climate of the place is of course fantastic, as you would expect in the middle of the mountains but the waitress was moody and uninterested and to my surprise they didn't serve Slovakian beer, regional or national. All they had was Staropramen or Pilsener Urquell, both Czech. As this place is on the border of Slovakia and Poland I would have liked to try a Slovakian beer. Anyway, it wasn't to be so I ordered a Staropramen and realised after a few drinka they had brought me non-alcoholic which in itself doesn't bother me so I drank it but fact is it was not what I ordered. If you're walking this trail and are passing by I guess it's worth it for a quick break but I wouldn't seek it out.

Chata Pieniny has a price tag of 60 eur so we thought the place will be up to standards, but there is no WiFi in the upper floors and absolutely no mobile networks coverage inside.
So if you want to check email or talk to your loved ones you have to go to stay in pub full of charter groups of drunk tourists.
There is no other common room or even benches/chairs where you can sit in quiet.
This place is completely unfit for couples/smaller groups, it is big and offers no cosiness nor decent resting experience. The building has about 4 entrances which are being locked and opened at the will of staff so you always end up looking for the right door to get out or in.
Every morning we were woken up by noisy tourist groups leaving the place or going for breakfast. Food is pretty mediocre and breakfast included in the price is apparently made of the cheapest supermarket products.
All in all, this guesthouse is situated in a beautiful surroundings but you are hardly going to enjoy any of it in this place. Unless you are into primordial fun such as pig-slaughtering and heavy drinking.
After our stay we really felt like we need some rest.
60 eur per night is simply ridiculous, you can get a decent room for less than half of this price in this region.

Maybe the weather helped as it was a gloriously warm and sunny day. We were cycling through the Dunajec gorge and stopped here for lunch. We ate outside but it was nicely shaded. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was tasty and filling and there a live band which created a great atmosphere. What more could you want?
I would recommend it and would like to go back.
