This is a beautiful and very well managed and maintained hotel. We had Room 203, a big double with a large enclosed balcony on the front of the hotel looking over the road. No noise problems as others have observed. A large bathroom and shower with lots of hot water and good towels. Good wi-fi and breakfast was fine. We paid about 930,000 COP (about $460 US) for four nights without breakfast. We felt the price was fair for the value of the room and hotel. The staff are very helpful and do make you feel a welcomed guest. We were here for four nights and found lots to see and to do. We enjoy walking around and the Festival of Lights offered three spectacular nights of fireworks, concerts including a fantastic 65 piece young persons' classical group and lots more. We had a day tour in a taxi for 180,000 COP (about $90 US) arranged through the hotel. A really lovely day with almost too much to see in one day. We came by taxi from Bogota arranged by our hotel for 700,000 COP (about $350 US) return journey with sightseeing on the way as we wanted to see Zipaquira and preferred the quiet old road through the countryside. Expensive, but we didn't want to take risks on the first few days of a three month tour. We stayed near the bus station and the buses looked very safe and secure. Had we not had all our gear and money with us, we would have taken the bus from Bogota. This would be easy if you left some stuff and most of your cash, etc in your Bogota hotel to collect when you returned there for a few days. I write all this because it is really hard to find any info about current prices in Colombia. There are many great restaurants here, but be warned that there will be very few open on other than Fri,Sat and Sun nights. It took us only 5-10 minutes to walk easily into town. Villa de Leyva felt totally safe and was a real relief after Bogota. Ecce Homo is a magnificent old Dominican church and complex. You can easily spend two hours there on your tour! Very special. Enjoy Villa de Leyva. The town is lovely and the people are muy simpatico.…
We really enjoyed our night in this cosy hotel. The place is a little away from the center but you can walk to the center in 5 to 10 minutes. Especially the staff was very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was great as well.
We visited in May and didnt prebook. We found the hotel easily. The owner Nora was very polite and helpful. She showed us three rooms before we paid. All that we saw were clean with ensuite bathroom. Our room was a twin room. It was spacious, clean, free wifi, tv, small balcony. Bathroom had good water pressure. Lots of clean new towels. You can tell that this hotel has been well cared for by the owner with small touches. We thought the price was reasonable compared to some others in this popular tourist town that are very expensive. The hotel is a short walk to the town square so it was peaceful being away from the centre. Nora also had a very useful map with tourist sights and this came in very handy. If visiting Villa de Leyva we would definetely stay here again.
An easy 15 minute stroll from the main square, worth the walk for this peaceful, relaxed, friendly hotel. The staff were always there to help, even with our limited Spanish and their limited English, nothing was too much trouble. We had a ground floor room facing the courtyard. It was clean and comfortable and we had our own outside sitting space with hammock. Good for enjoying a bit of down time after Bogata. We didn't see any of the other hotels to compare, but would recommend this one it has all you need for a short stay.
The hotel is not as fancy as others in town, but reasonably priced. Location is good if you want to stay a little away from the party area in town, but still a walking distance (15 mins walt to main square and la "calle caliente"). I took a room with a nice balcony over looking the street... not a good idea, as it was a little noisy. Staff was very kind and helpful, breakfast was nice (pretty standard).
