Ideal place to spend a couple of days in Villa de Leyva. The owner, Maria Clara, will do her best to make you feel at home. Small, clean and cozy place located close to the main square, but far enough to avoid noise and crowds. Delicious Colombian breakfast included in the price. Beautiful patio with orchids and other types of flowers and plants.
We stayed at this hostel for to nights and it was really nice - the señora was really helpfull and we could use the kitchen for cooking! The rooms was nice and clean and good value for the money. There is breakforst at the hostel - really cheap but not a lot, so only for a small breakforst! It is really close to the big plaza - perfect location - and there is a lovely garden in the middle of the house! - Really recommendable!
I stayed here because Hostal Everest turned me away wit despite having a confirmed booking. I glad that happened. The place was very clean , quiet and comfortable. I guess they updated the bedding as the beds, we had three in our room were great. The kitchen was clean and it was easy to prepare meals in. The staff was nice.
We arrived in Villa de Leyva early evening on a Friday, so we had a bit of a difficult time finding a place with availability. Del Carmen thankfully could offer us a room all three nights, with a private bathroom, for a very reasonable price. They are very well-located, just a few blocks from the main square. The room and bathroom were clean, but the beds and pillows weren't very comfortable. The shower is electric so not the greatest. Lastly, the kitchen was filthy... but there are so many good restaurants in town so perhaps they don't feel there's much desire on the part of guests to cook for themselves? I wouldn't really recommend this place, so take my advice and book ahead if you're arriving to Villa de Leyva on a weekend!
