Adequate price and great location to be away from all the noise but yet very near; it was absolutely relaxing not mich to do in the hotel but very hospitable and friendly.. Good breakfast!! We rented bikes near the plaza and we did a 5 hr trip...it was so exciting for all of us... We had lunch at tomatino it was very pleasant... A very great sunny day... If you enjoy bike riding its a perfect excersize and so pleasant in this weather that it will be memorable so we finished riding went to the hotel took a short nap of half hour and then went to dinner and back to the hotel with a perfectly full stomach and so satisfied of all the view that we fell asleap at 10 pm...

1) dogs barking continuously (and someone whistling every 15minutes for their wandering canine) until late at night 2) roosters crowing at 1 am 3) road traffic (including racing motorcycles) until after midnight and then early in morning 4) karaoke bar next door playing an odd mix of music (often stopping, joltingly, in mid-song), with very strong amps - so we dug out our premium-quality earplugs, buried our heads (because the two streetlights kept the room well-lit), and tried for a little sleep. and there were other detractors: - no fan and no screens on windows (so we couldn't cool the room down, since there were mozzies). - shower temp never got more than tepid (odd since it was a demand water heater). - bed was typical colombian hard (kapok) mattress. not to be entirely negative, the breakfasts were good and the hostess spoke a little english, enough to give us directions to the bus terminal and to the two fossil sites. it's more like 20 minutes from the plaza, on torn-up sidewalks

Response from Elizabeth R, Director General at El Pozzo Hotel Campestre
Responded 31 Aug 2015
Dear Mr Trujim, thanks for yours suggestions. We regret that you have not had a good stay in our hotel, but keep in mind that to be located in a rural area is normal to hear barking dogs, roosters and sing the song of birds. I want to explain that you visited us during the kite festival, why there were festivals and music everywhere and clarified that close to the Hotel there is no bar or karaoke, it was a private party which even when we called several times police could not control the noise. In our rooms we do not use fans as the weather of Villa de Leyva is between 14-20 degrees, which warrants no air conditioning. The very reason for the high occupancy of Villa de Leyva during the festival makes motorcycles and trucks funcionesn late into the night and is something outside the hotel. I appreciate all your suggestions and I will have very into account to improve our services again

Located 15 minute walk from town main plaza. Beautiful 11 room converted mansion. Very quiet and very safe. Rooms are not big but has balcony with hammock overlooking farmland. Only noise is farm animals and crowing roosters in the background but to be expected in the country. No problem checking in at 10:30 pm & checkout is 1pm but they were nice to allow late checkout till 6pm since hotel was not full. Management and staff very nice as most Colombians are. Bicycles for rent at $12.50 each for full day. Make sure you call ahead to reserve bikes so they can prep ... inflate tires, oil chain, etc. Clean rooms, hot shower...very nice hotel for good price. Ask hotel staff about the Adobe house attraction down the street... entrance charge is $1.50 each...adobe house owned by architect is amazing...you get to walk through entire home unescorted.

I stayed here with my family (4 of us total) this past July and it was fantastic! Definitely consider staying here if you visit Villa de Leyva. Its about a 10 minute walk from town, but the walk is extremely safe and actually quite nice as a way to see the rest of town (besides just the square). As a plus, there's also a couple of great panaderias (bakeries) on the way back! The family who runs the place is extremely nice and accommodating. We went during a time of year that is relatively quiet in Villa de Leyva, and it was nice to have a beautiful place to return to with great gardens and even ping pong and billiards! The room was clean and very charming (not a lot of water pressure in the showers, but there was always hot water!). The breakfast was delicious, usually eggs made to order, some delicious fresh juices, and fresh fruit! Also, you must try the hot chocolate! Its amazing! The owner of the hotel was extremely helpful in helping us plan out and arrange transport to a couple of day trip locations. We ended up going to the pottery village of Raquira, the nearby Augustine monastery, the town of Sutamarchan (known for its Longaniza sausage), and the Villa de Leyva winery all in one day.

We stayed here over a weekend for 3 nights and since this was the end of our trip, we were really looking forward to relaxing. We took a taxi from the bus station ($2) when we first arrived and then back in the evenings after dinner. It's a short walk from town and the Casa Terracota. We rented bikes from the hostal to go to Museo el Fosil, although if you bike on the main road it's a difficult bike ride up a few hills. Better to take the dirt road past the Casa Terracota. Our room was on the second floor right above the reception area. The room was comfortable and clean, although the bed seemed to be too big for the room. We had a hammock on our balcony and there were nice views of the countryside. A good breakfast was included in the room price. The family was very helpful and even offered to pick us up from town at night if we didn't want to walk back. A few negatives that we experienced- there is hot water in the shower however there isn't really much water pressure. Being in the room over reception meant that it was a little noisy. This also serves as the common room. Since it was a weekend, their children were around playing and screaming, so it didn't make for the most relaxing time. In some ways, it felt like a homestay. A few reasonably priced restaurants we enjoyed in town-La Ricotta, Santa Lucia Cafe, and La Milhoja Bakery/Coffee Shop (the foodcourts are overpriced).

It took a while to find the hotel which is about 1.2km from the central square just outside of town and is rather well hidden down a small side road. Because of its location it is very quiet and peaceful with just the noise of the frogs in the large pond at night. The room was clean and pleasant with a balcony overlooking the pond. Breakfast was good and served by a very pleasant host.

This place is a really quiet place, you wake up and see animals in the farms nearby, at night you hear the animals and insects singing in a symphony, the house is colonial style, this is a family owned business and they have pay attention to every detail. breakfast is good but, same choice every day. price gives you a good value. The owner connected us with Brigitte, (311)450-6976 she gave us a tour through the local attractions at a good price and no rush or pressure, while telling us all about what life is for the locals, she is very honest. The hotel is very conveniently located close to the clay house and the Muisca museum, and a walk to other attractions. As well the hotel is couple of blocks from the historic area and around 5 or 7 blocks to the main square, and 4 to 5 blocks to the bus depot. You can walk at night amongst the locals and have couple of beers on the way in one of the "tiendas" I do recommend this hotel with closed eyes.

We went to Villa de Leyva from Bogota, so we were looking forward to getting out of the city. El Pozzo is about a 5 - 10 minute walk down a quiet road from the main plaza in Villa de Leyva. The grounds are well kept. Elizabeth the manager was friendly. The main house has a TV room and our private double room with ensuite was super cute, clean and quiet! They had some facilities that we didn't have time to use (ping pong table, volleyball and basketball courts). Breakfast was included. I would recommend staying here.
