#26 of 65 in Villa de Leyva
The Plaza Mayor hotel is an establishment that offers all the guarantees to spend the best days in the town; with comfortable infrastructure for all guests, luxury location right in front of the main square, but with the privacy that the guest expects. One of the biggest attractions of our hotel is its upper floor "El mirador de la villa" the best place to see the Plaza de Villa de Leyva; a place with an exceptional view that offers guests and individuals delicious meals, tapas, fondue, wines, bar and music. With 32 rooms, the PM hotel is pleased to welcome people from all over the world as it has a trained staff to do it and with open arms to meet the needs of the guests to arrive.

This was our first trip to Leyva so I can't compare to other hotels in this town. The hotel main entrance is on the main plaza. We walked to the hotel from the bus stop, about 10 minutes. That is nice and convenient. The hotel staff is friendly and the concierge speaks english. Breakfast was actually vouchers at a very cute bistro around the corner. The room and bathroom were clean and nicely decorated in a rustic style. The terrace has the BEST view of the plaza. The hotel is old. It's an experience. If you want modern amenities, this will probably be disappointing. The room is noisy and the windows and doors open to the courtyard... and other guests. But if you enjoy the rustic experience and the colonial style, then you might not mind some of the inconveniences. The wifi is super slow. The hot water can be inconsistent. But overall it's not horrible. It is ON the plaza and comes with all the pros and cons.

We arrived without reservation in the evening. My wife had stayed here before and liked the location. The price seemed quite high, but since it was on the plaza I agreed to stay. The location was beautiful, and the patio on the third floor had a fantastic view. They had parking available. There were issues, however with the facilities. The bathroom was small and hot water inconsistent. The internet was a joke - basically unusable. I went to breakfast and had to hunt down staff just to get coffee. The breakfast was average. There was a bar next door, and the noise made it hard to sleep. If being on the plaza is important to you, then this might work. I just expected more for the price paid.

This hotel has the best location and view in town and it is nice with excellent staff. However, it has a lot of negative points which made our stay very unpleasant at times. Some heavy and noisy construction work was being done and there was dust everywhere for the entire 4 nights we were here. They did not even bother to clean up each day. So the only ‘common area’, which was necessary to use sometimes when internet in rooms was slow or nonexistent, was covered with dust. Even the breakfast area was. And they started banging walls at 7:30 am. No attempt made to mitigate for the inconvenience, perhaps moving the breakfast area away from the dusty section, or covering the work area with a dust trapping screen. It was all right there to see, in one’s face, with smell of earth and dust, on entering the hotel. One felt they could not be bothered to make things easier for guests. Apart from that, the internet was erratic at times and we were both bitten all over. No idea what it was, but I suspect bed bugs. And the owner’s dog disliked me and tried to bite me on more than one occasions. Breakfast is good, but could be better for the price they charge, and staff lovely and helpful but perhaps not enough for such a large place. They could not be nicer but the problem with the hotel is a managerial issue whereby they do not seem to care the inconvenience caused. Physically the hotel is lovely and commands amazing views from the terrace, in fact the best view in town of the most beautiful square, yet for a stress free stay to guests, they really need to sort out a lot of issues. They waved the price we were meant to have paid for a larger room, but this was natural considering all the inconveniences.

We arrived late without reservation and they were able to give us the Suite, on the last floor.! beatiful! It is a very big bedroom, with an incredible terrace, with full open view of the Plaza. The location is more than perfect. People were really nice with us, all the staff, and we even met the owner, she took care of everything we needed. Also, we were traveling with our 3 dogs, and she was very understangind and let us stay with our dogs. It was a perfect stay. THANKS! :)

Plus points - room nice and lots of hot water. BUT.... very overpriced and offering little more than an hospedaje. Internet close to non-existent, food at breakfast Poot the first day and we had to queue the second (and gave up to eat better elsewhere). Only about 5 staff running the whole place and not trained properly. Accused of stealing a towel at the end. Classy. Not.

Just on Plaza Mayor, you find this cosy hotel. Large rooms, private parking in the backyard, good breakfast and a large terrace overlooking the Plaza Mayor. Friendly staff and good service. The isolation for the rooms is non-existing, meaning that the rooms a bit chilly during the night, but this is more like the rule and not an exception. Very god wifi and a refrigerator to store food and drinks. I will be happy stay another time.

The owner is very rude with the staff and the clients. The quality of the food is terrible, and even though the hotel is beautiful and very well located, the rooms are humid, cold and plenty of bugs. I highly recommend avoid this hotel.

My name is Alan and I am an American from Memphis, TN. I stayed at this hotel on 9/7/18 and 9/8/18. I travelled from Bogota on a bus. It was efficient and economical. The hotel has the BEST location directly on the Plaza and just a few minutes from the bus station. The hotel was GREAT with large rooms (I rented 5 rooms for 10 adults). The rooms were clean with premium bedding and large showers. The hotel also has FREE onsite parking. The hotel served a delicious American Style breakfast with croissants.. The hotel has a restaurant and bar. It also has a HUGE terrace overlooking the Plaza. We took our own liquor and they charged a small uncorking fee. I saved the BEST for last. The desk manager was Diego and was GREAT. He spoke English, Spanish and I think a little French. All the staff was very nice and worked very hard to ensure a happy stay. I would highly recommend this property.

The location is great, also the facilities of the Hotel and the Terrace with views to the plaza mayor. No vegetarian friendly. The TV does not work. Cold room. No mini-bar. Too expensive for the service they provided!! The breakfast was really poor and not good quality. The service not the best. The restaurant in the Terrace has like 5 dishes... no hot drinks at night. Not a single vegetarian option in the menu.
