What a joy, Gabi & Florent! (Regards also to Paramo Chris who also patrols la hamaca!) The road from Bogota was long, with Egan Bernal wannabes racing to Boyaca on 6th Aug. Better to stop in rainy Tunja, get some Glasgow weather again to stave off heimat. Tunja's grainy, and folks were mighty friendly like many in Glasgow. An intro to Colombia (not that Los Rolos - y Rolaquitas - weren't, but gotta get out to da country) I don't digress much: hop on a minibus to Leyva. Was to travel 2 months through this wonderful diverse country, with many wistful memories. Leyva laid it on first. A template, if you will. Do the glees flood back as you type? Yes, yes. Once once. The door is like a horse door, where you can open the top hatch. Do a horsy kind of shake-the-mane-kinda-noise to be let in. Ach, dinny fash: this is a safe and happy place. Your bed is right there after cyclitic Boyaca, two hours to get from central Bogota to the north terminal, interminable traffic & Bernalistas with punctures. Leyva has a huge & happy square with kites & people who can strum music to your ambivalent songs. And Once Once has a long garden when you get back. Stay here before your travels take you through more of this lovely land. No fake tan.…
First time in Villa de Leyva and was recommended Hostel Once Once by a friend and am so happy I followed this recommendation. Of all the hostels I’ve ever been to I can clearly state this one has the best mattresses, sheets, and even comforters! Everything is spotless clean, customer service is friendly and top notch, price is right, WiFi works great, hot water, great location a few blocks from the main central plaza, the works. Will be coming back for sure, highly recommended!
