We picked this property for its beautiful grounds and especially the enticing, good sized, covered pool. However, despite the friendly and attentive staff, we couldn't get past the fact that we picked this property precisely for its generous pool, covered to protect our relaxation during Colombia's rainy season. But the pool was unusable, as the water is unheated. There are visible elements of a former solar heating system, but the hotel operators don't own the actual property. Word has it that the owner is not making the capital improvements to restore heat to the pool anytime soon. Funny enough, there were some locals who used the jacuzzi. It was heated to about a balmy 80. Then the jets were turned on which injected cold pool water into it. They frolicked like giddy school girls with their glasses of wine in a luke warm jacuzzi. Different strokes!…
This is a beautiful hotel located about 1 mile from downtown. It has very nice rooms and common areas. Including a covered pool, sauna, pool and billar tables, barbecue and beautiful open and green areas. The personnel in charge do whatever is needed to make you feel confortable and like home. They are extremely kind and warm. We even had a special dinner just for us. I’m planning to go back soon. If you go to Villa de Leyva I truly recommend this place.
