Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Location was beautiful and walkable to the beach. The room was perfectly clean with nice linens and decorations. The coffee maker was a nice addition. We walked the beach and went to the local town. The host was kind and they made breakfast early for us to get on the road.

Room Tip: Most restaurants in town were closed out of season. We found a nice place a short drive away.

Stella Maris is beautiful B&B located steps from Keel Beach with the most amazing views of the Cathedral Rocks, Minaun Cliffs, and the distant Clare Island across the outer Clew Bay. The rooms are wonderfully adorn, clean and comfortable. The owners are very helpful and accomodating. Morning breakfast was outstanding. One of the best places to explore Achill Island and all its beauty, and meet the friendly local residents. Be sure to stay a few days.

This is the second time that we have stayed at Stella Maris. What can we say, it was just wonderful. The owner Clodagh is a lovely lady and nothing is too much trouble, we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast options are top class and freshly prepared each morning. I can highly recommend the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon - delicious. The views from our bedroom and the breakfast room are amazing. The beach is literally at the end of the garden and even in the height of August with amazing weather it was very peaceful with not many people on it. It’s a great place to chill and have a swim. The rooms are of the highest quality, you even get a posh coffee machine, which is nice. There is a lovely pub ‘The Amethyst’ At the top of the road (3 minute walk) which serves top quality food. If you are thinking about booking a room here, I’d say just book, you won’t regret it.

Check out my photos, and you will see how special this place is. It was our wedding anniversary, so we booked the junior suite - with amazing views out to the sea and the mountains. Expensive - but I would recommend it for something special. Breakfast was excellent - I would recommend the fruit pancake - it was superb.

There aren't enough superlatives to use on how wonderful this place is. We had the Junior Suite with an amazing view of the sea and the mountains. En-suite bathroom, tea and coffee, TV with remote and Netflix. Breakfast in the morning was great, cooked-to-order, along with a buffet table of breads, juices and the like. Located in the village of Keel, the house is on the beach, and has its own access to the beach (which btw is over three miles long!). Two pubs and two restaurants are within a 2-4 minute walk. All the sights on Achill are within a ten-minute drive. Magnificent scenery on the Wild Atlantic Way drives. There is plenty of walking and hiking opportunity for all levels. Clodagh and family are super people! Negative: there is only one ATM on Achill Island and it's in the town at the bridge to the mainland. It's only a ten minute drive, (one way), and a bit inconvenient, but this is just nitpicking the location.

We stayed in a triple room at the Stella Maris B&B for 2 nights, and we wished we had booked for longer. We had a lovely bright room with tea and coffee making facilities. The room was really clean and had everything we needed. We had a large window in our room which had gorgeous views of the sea. There is a shop, takeaway and a couple of bars within walking distance of the b&b. And at the end of the garden, there’s a little walkway leading you to the beach. It’s literally less than a minutes walk from the b&b to the beach. We got a breakfast packed dropped at the door each morning which set us up nicely for the day. The hosts were so accommodating and friendly. Would definitely recommend this b&b and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Stella Maris is a fabulous B&B and we would definitely return next time we visit Achill Island. The location is perfect and it has its own pathway down to the beach. Mary was a fabulous host and took the time to greet us by name every time we spoke to her, also gave some excellent recommendations about eating out. The rooms are immaculate with everything you might need. The complimentary breakfast pack was perfect and we really enjoyed the view from our room out over Keel. We stayed in the Junior Suite which was lovely. Would highly recommend Stella Maris. Thank you Mary!

We recently stayed at the Stella Maris B & B on Achill Island for the second time. It was just as we remembered it. Greg & Mary are wonderful hosts and their breakfasts are to die for. Our room overlooked the beach and it was wonderful. We'll ba back again!
