Generally, Hotel Cikada is a good option if you don't expect modern style. My room was relatively big and looked like 1970's style but there was a big and modern TV and comfortable chair. The room faced backyard and was therefore peaceful and relatively cool even without air-conditioning. The doors make a lot of noise which might disturb sleeping. Luckily people around me were calm enough and didn't move much during nighttime. The hotel seems to have quite many services. Especially families with children seemed to enjoy the swimming pool, and the weather was too hot for many to go to the small gym. One evening I borrowed a bicycle - heavy and clattering but free - from the hotel and rode around the town. The breakfast was poorly organised considering covid restrictions. Food was arranged in a way that people easily got too close to each other. There was not so much choice but it was enough to keep hunger away for a few hours. Besides, some plates were unclean.…
Our booking at Hotel Esplanad was transferred here due the fact that Hotel Esplanade is not open. It seems that it has not been open for a long time but is still bookable, which I cannot understand. Anyway our stay here was pretty enjoyable due the two main causes: their pool and the breakfast. We stayed here for four nights and were able to make day visits in various attractions and do some shopping. Our room was good enough for us although somebody would consider it a bit dull and old-fashioned. Breakfast was comprehensive enough for our needs although due the Coronavirus regulations bread was readymade. For a person willing to have social distancing the breakfast quay must have been a nightmare because the other guest didn't pay a dime for the regulations. Hotel has a small parking lot but I would recommend to park your vehicle by the street because it can sometimes be quite difficult to back out to the street ... especially if you have a large car.…
Nice view in suite room, take suiteroom, large balcony, two separet roms. Bedroom had 75inc tv. Dinnigrom only 40 Inc. And suites have seaview. Bathroom is large. And view in terasbalcony is superb. Only little minus is breakfast. Hotel is walking distant to citycenter 15min. Seamuseum is 10 steps from hotel parking place. Very good restaurant is 10 steps a cross the street.
Hotel Cikada (room 44) +Free Wi-fi, good enough to stream videos. +Free parking. +Towels, Hairdryer. +No carpet on the floor (I don't like it, even if it's clean). -Rooms are old and smells old. -No refrigerator. -No curtains when showering in the bath tub. -No aircondion, but don't need it in Scandinavia. -No 24/7 reception. -Breakfast starts late on Sundays, at 08:00, so never got the chance to try it. -The indoor pool cost money (maybe only after 16:00 according to my picture). -Didn't know where to leave the key during early check-out, so I just left the key at the desk at the reception before they opened. +/- Mariehamn is really small, it only takes 15min to walk from the west side to the east side, so all is close to the shopping street "Torggatan". We had booked "Hotell Esplanad" but they have closed the hotel for this year, so we got transferred to "Hotel Cikada" for the same price. Hotell Esplanad is 10min closer to the "shopping" area than this hotel. Hotel Cikada is located next to "Ålands sjöfartsmuseum" and the harbour. Hotel Cikada is 9min walk to K-Supermarket. The hotel was very close to harbor and easy to go with car. There was plenty of room for a car. The rooms were not fancy, but quite big...There was no dresser for small clothing and no place for towels to dry even the bathroom was big. There was a pool outside and inside too (we did not try this) so our towels were wet all the time. Breakfast was included but wasn't fancy either...But all in all hotel was worth the price, I can recommend this hotel.
